FWIW, I sent an email asking if they would ship this game in an envelope or box, since I was worried about the P3 box being crushed during transit. I received this reply:

A box set would not fit into a bubble envelope. It would ship in a box with
padding.

I do re-call ordering DMC Aniversary box set from amazon and it being a little smuged on the sides, but thats what you can get with shipping, enstead of buying it from a store.

Little of topic but how do all the shin megami tensi games work as far as a series? Are nocturne, devil summoner, devil saga and persona are they tied together somehow?

They are all in the "same" universe, but each game is different and stands on its own. Think of them like the Final Fantasy universe where each game is different, but the magic and chocobos are the same.

They are all individual stories. You can expect the same kind of atmosphere, for the most part, but you don't have to play any of them to understand another (with the exception of DDS1 & DDS2).
 
Persona 3 is now backordered. Just got the email, it "should ship within 30 days." Son of a bitch.

Oh well, I can always buy a copy at Circuit City (to further fuck those shiteating fucks) and just return the copy Family Video sends me.

I was wandering about doing that, but have you guys tried it before? I'm wondering if for some reason there would be a different bar code or some weird stickers or different shrink wrap on the box and they won't accept the swap return.

And what if it takes FamilyVideo >30 days to send you the game, don't you only have 30 for returns?

I used to do it all the time back up at college. The only games store in walking distance was EB, so I'd buy stuff full price from them, get the cheap copy in the mail a few days later, and return the cheap copy within two weeks. I don't think they ever figured it out.

Big box stores are much more flexible in their return policies than, say, EB.

Also, assuming you have the money, you can always pass the buck by buying another copy at, say, Best Buy and returning that copy to CC. That gives you another thirty days to return the Family Video copy to Best Buy.
 
Is it familyvideo.com email policy to say the item is backordered when it is preordered?
that would seem more likely the case, all the more because of the manufacturing delays
 
Yeah, I think the backorder case with Persona 3 is because its a preorder and not even out yet. FamilyVideo has said that my order has been backordered since mid July (before its original release date). On the item's page itself, it says:

Availability: This product will be in stock and ready to ship on Wednesday 15 August, 2007.
 
Has anyone got shipping notifications on P3 yet? The website has been updated such that the game 'usually ships in 2 to 4 weeks'.

I'm wondering if I should try my luck and see if I can find it in town somewhere.
 
I seem to remember the Gamestop website stating that the ship date had been pushed back from 14th to 18th due to manufacturing delays. Something about the artbook I think.

Well, I got that automated voice call from Gamestop yesterday saying that it would be in this afternoon. (I haven't gotten around to cancelling my old preorder yet, will do tomorrow.)

Really? That would explain why no GS's within 200 miles of me have any copies in stock. But their site still says it ships in 24 hours and Amazon has it in stock.:whistle2:(
 
The site as of yesterday had that printed along with a pre-release of the 14th. Atlus made the Official statement awhile back after the delay saying it would indeed ship the 14th of August.. So I would go buy Atlus and not by Gamestop..

As for Vinny that is because some stores did not get the shipments yet or they are not entered in the system.. Pre-orders always come first so if you check back on the site tomorrow any stores that got extra copies of the game will have them up..

EB/Gamestop site always has the 0 in stock more on the way thing on the release day of something unless of course it's Madden 08' because god for bid the irritate the die hard Madden fans...
 
Hm. Well there was a note stating the game had been delayed (they still had the release date set as 8/14 btw, they just also had a note that said it was pushed back). It isn't there anymore, though. I guess circumstances changed or EB/GS was just wrong.

Now I just wonder if Rosenqueen is going to ship my copy of P3 now or make me wait until they get Growlanser in stock. :roll:
 
Why don't you just make a new account and save $2 more? I can understand if you don't feel like taking the time to make another account though.

I think others had problems getting the return customer coupon to work.
 
I pulled the trigger and ordered P3 yesterday. I have not received any email from them yet. It was my first order with them, so it's a new account. Anyone used a comcast email address and received email from them?
 
Thanks, OP! I've ordered from Family Video before, so the coupons won't work for me. Still, I'm saving $10+ dollars on what seems to be a critical darling of a game (and one hell of an edition what with the CD and art book - woohoo!), so again, much appreciated.

Same here! Have you emailed them about reducing the price? When I emailed them, they said to "send us a reminder email once you receive your order." I guess that means the actual order, and not the order confirmation?

Anyway, it's shipped, can't wait to get it!

I also got an e-mail saying that Tales of the Abyss is still backordered, despite being in stock when I ordered it, but I'm guessing that they had a flood of orders at the time.
 
I'm just worried they won't get more in stock and cancel our orders, though I doubt that'll happen. I really want this game now so I may go get it later with EB/GS credit.

Back in stock (ships in 1 business day), ordered for $38 shipped. I don't really want to spend that much, but it's better than $50 and it'll be tough getting this new for $12 cheaper anytime soon, I'm guessing.

Can you imagine if FamilyVideo puts you on back order for Growlanser? Then they find out they aren't getting more copies cuz it's a rare, one print game?

Not worth the risk on certain games. But I will use them for all my 360 needs.
 
I wouldn't freak out until my "in stock" order ships before the people who are backordered. Which we probably won't know till Monday.

I'm in the same boat, ordered 8/10 and still backordered. I'm willing to be patient, but if the "in stock" people start getting shipment notices and the pre-orders are all stuck on back-order, that'd be seriously messed up.
