Persona 4: Released and Ready 2 Play! Metacritic Score -- A Whoppin' 93!!!

Yeah, I've had a couple of cheap deaths like that too. One was after I had been grinding about 1.5 hours and some villain cast one of those instant death spells. Really kinda pissed me off.

As for the shuffle, I also miss the P3 shuffle because like you said, you could rake in the $$$ or the xp. At least there's the "second chance" drawing that starts in the second dungeon. Some of those bonuses are good.

And that damn fox charges WAY too much to heal.
Received my first game over screen about 4 1/2 hours in against a regular enemy. Critical hit on the main character for 95 points of damage. o_O
The Attack was SUPER EFFECTIVE!!!

So...addicting. My sleeping schedule is totally messed up now due to staying up really late in the morning to play and sleeping in the evening. I look and feel like this :drool:. I still like p3 a lot better, but that can change since im not that far into p4 yet.

Game Informer gave the game the lowest score I've seen yet - 8/10 and 7.25/10.

The review was a bit hobnobby though. They had a few good points, but mainly harped on the PS2-era graphics (what'd they expect?!) and grinding.

Stupid Fallout 3 and my wife is playing Prince of Persia keeping me from playing this game. Ugh.

Persona 3 was my favorite PS2 RPG topping Suikoden V, and some of you guys are saying Persona 4 is better, huh?

Damn gotta get to this.

I think I still prefer some of the characters from P3, but I am loving this game after I was able to actually ...do.. stuff. I had like 5 hours clocked before I felt like I was playing.

I also got my pack today, too. Teddie looks great, I'm mostly happy.. but I gotta wonder why all these promo shirts are always XL? They're so huge I can never really wear them.

A XL person can't fit into a S or M. But a S or M person can wear a XL, even if they are swimming in it.

Think of it as a crummy and unrealistic One Size Fits All type of deal. xD

whoo! P4 in the house today!!

but... I'm hella scared to pop it in!!

coz once I do that... it's over... it's so over...

dang I really wish they could make a new Battletoads game,

but like so instead I tried to name my main character Battletoad...

but they wouldnt let me coz it has too many letters!!! >_<

so I had to settle for Batltoad

btw I heard that in Britain they dont pronounce their T's,

so they say like "Bha-uhl-oad"
do you guys have an extra artbook?
i got fucked out of mine.
Your pre-order book? Where did you order from? If it was from GS, just go to another store (call ahead first of course) and ask if they have any extras.

Thus far, I prefer P3. The blue/black was a much easier color scheme to visually handle than the orange/yellow/brown. I also miss my camera - only panning left and right makes it much more difficult to sneak up on Shadows. Granted the shadows seem to be alerted to my presence even if I approach from the back.
It's too late for me. I said goodbye to my social life already. My new friends are Chie and the group.
I'm in the same boat and somehow that comforts me... at least the characters are more interesting than the majority of people I run into on a daily basis.

Is it just me or has it been much harder to get the player advantage in battles? The enemies overall seem to be harder then P3. I'm still stuck on Yukiko's shadow. I may have to resign myself to grinding. ugh.

I'm loving all the improvements they've made. For example it is much easier to equip your allies now. The story is pretty interesting too. You just have to sit through the 3 hour prologue first.

I was at level 15 when I finished that part. The
"prince" that she summons is weak to ice, so every time Chie came up, I would use mabufu, then guard (to avoid fire attacks). Getting Archangel and leveling him up to 12 is a good idea as well so that you'll have Media.

I like the fact that getting knocked down doesn't take away your turn, but am a bit annoyed that they've allowed the extra turn if anyone's weakness is exploited (in P3 it had to be everyone).

It was from GS.
I live 16 miles away from LA, and I called all stores in my area, and a few in LA.
None of them had any.

Just nabbed Persona 4 today, never played 3 but played and loved Nocturne and 2 of my best friends went berserk over 3 so, lol. I am about 1 hr and 40 minutes in. The prologue is killing me, but I can already feel the crack starting to come, lol, and I am really enjoying the story.

It is a lot tougher to get the player advantage when trying to sneak up on the shadows. It seems like its more random than any sneaking skill or anything, cause I've had the little buggers facing me and got the drop on them anyway. On that same note tho, I've also been on the receiving end of the drop, cause there's been several times I've hacked at them with my sword, but the shadows were given the advantage anyway.

I do agree tho, that storywise it is better than P3. Also, I think I like most of the characters too. Cause in P3, I think the only characters I really liked were Junpei, Mitsuru and Yukari.

I thought Mitsuru was a bitch.

I also like these characters. The soccer guy looks like hes too old to be in highschool though. I'm looooving it so far.

I finally beat Yukiko's shadow. I leveled up enough to get mabufu and used status effects plus guard more often. It seems like status effects are actually useful in this game.

Right now I'm being overwhelmed with all the stuff to do during the day. I haven't even tried getting a part time job yet. Which stats and s.links should I focus on?

You definitely want to get knowledge up because passing the exams are actually useful now since it gives you points in all of your school based s.links.

Yeah, Knowledge, then probably Courage and Expression, since several dialog choices early on have prerequisites for those.

Try to at least get a level 3 Knowledge before the first midterm exams. The best way I know is to go to the library to study on rainy days.

Check out this P4 theme that someone made for the PS3. Found it on the atlus forums.

if you don't like the icons and just want the bg's use the ps3 theme extractor which can be found at:

I also hear Knowledge is the first thing you should work on. The least important is Diligence. Once you get it to level 3 you can pretty much leave it alone.

Wow, beat the third dungeon the first day it was open while it was raining. Used the Hermit S. Link to heal twice through it but I didn't really think I'd actually beat the boss.

Only cost me 10k the first time I healed my SP and then 15k the second time. Not bad once you get your S. Link for Hermit up there.

Wow @ Voice Actors
The voice for Yosuke is the same as Pharos / Ryouji Mochizuki? That's pretty fuckedd up. Any other re-used voice actors I should notice? lol

So on rainy days should I take the beef bowl challenge or go to the library? Right now it's kinda hard to come up with 3000 yen every time it rains. Maybe I can start working at night more. Dammit but that's when I study...

To anyone leveling the Hermit S. Link and plans to get it to rank 10. You should
purchase the Huge Fish from the shopping channel in June when they offer it (the other option isn't really worth it). Your next chance is apparently months away and it's a rare fish to fish up (but rain increases chances of getting it).
that was quick, OOS
Yep, I don't think their new ones sent from Atlus, just re-stocked from canceled orders.
Burns get out of there, I'm trying to get rid of mine, don't need more competition.
Then why'd you just order another for 'keeps'? ;)
I'm so sad that I haven't had the time to pick this up yet. How long does EB hold a preorder for?
I believe they hold your item for 48-hours.

After that, anyone can walk in and buy your copy.

What S-Links are you guys working on first?

Tip: You should always bring the corresponding Persona with you while hanging out with your S-Links. ex. if you decide to go to your sports club, equip a "Strength" class Persona. They'll level in about half the time. This is something I would often forget to do in P3 and missed maxing out about 4 of my S-Links bacuase of it.

I'm level 32 on July 9th and about to go grind for materials and such in the other world as it's raining and I thought I'd try the second optional boss.

Social Links:
9 - Hermit (Have the rank 10 quest complete but need expression up one more to 5)
8 - Chariot
8 - Priestess
7 - Magician
3 - Heirophant
3 - Justice
3 - Sun
2 - Temperance
2 - Strength
1 - Empress

Fool & Star, two of the auto's I can't really control so I don't see a point in posting their level.

Characteristics:
4 Knowledge
4 Expression
3 Understanding
3 Courage
3 Diligence

Since this is my first playthrough I'm taking it kindof laid back. Mostly want to max my characteristics for the next playthrough since they carry over.
What kind of stuff do you get from the monsters that show up when it's raining?
Special monsters show up (usually rain is somewhere in their name) in normal fights. In the third dungeon I fought one of the few that are in there and got one of their uncommon drops (no, they don't have multiple... it just doesn't drop any often). It turned out to be:

Zero Kosode (Female Armor)
- 108 Defense
- 3 Evade
- Effect: Evade Spells (High)

Normal armor from the area's materials were something like 120 defense and 10 evade or so with no special effect.

Usually the stuff that you get from rain-only enemies have about the same stats as other stuff in the dungeon but their effects are usually pretty awesome. This isn't always the case though 'cause I also got a weapon that had like 50 hit despite having a heck of a lot more attack than what I could currently get.

I'm pretty sure you don't actually have to equip a corresponding persona type. You just have to have one with you.
