Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Are there multiple save slots on this game?
Not from what I can see. You also can't choose to save whenever, so be sure to have 10+ minutes to play it or you'll have to start over again.

You can't save whenever? That's funny, because you can. Just hit start and save it and suspend play. I just tested this. Saved it, shut it off, turned it back on, hit continue, load from save point (there's also a 'load from chapter'), and it took me exactly to the point that I was at..

This game isn't as much fun as I thought it would be. It's really linear (well, obviously), nd your choices are very limited. You just hit a button when you find a difference in the testimony, I thought I would be able to actually point out the difference but he does it himself most of the time. Sometimes you'll have to present an object.

I was also hoping that I could debate the stories without knowing the truth, but before each case, it shows what happened, the murder weapon and who killed who. Kinda a downer, you guys could definately hold off on purchasing this for a while.

I can't judge the full game just yet, but I can't imagine the main points (knowing who really did it, pointing out discrepencies (sp?), etc) will be much different.

It also kinda sucks because the stylus isn't required for the game. You can push A to advance menus, you can hit the R button for the Court Record, etc, but there's no actual need for the stylus, so there's really no reason this couldn't be released on the GBA. You can apparently use the microphone as well, but I haven't found the need to. Maybe later in the game.

Actually, I just noticed that I lied. When you have to present evidence to someone, you have to touch the evidence button. Other than that.. kinda lame, I wanted to yell "OBJECTION!" into the microphone. Maybe they'll make a sequel with double the amount of cases (5 isn't that much..) and where you actually have to go with a story and you won't know the truth to begin with.

EDIT: And the sophomoric humor is kinda annoying. The last name of the guy in the first trial is Butz, first name is Larry, so obviously there's a joke where someone gets his name wrong and says Harry Butz. Now the detective in the second case's name is Dick Gumshoe, then it makes a joke that Gumshoe is an odd name.

Oh well. It's still kinda fun.

Thanks for the reveiw Scorch. Went to GS to see if they got any in. They did and while I was going to pick it up I instead got SSX: On Tour. Didn't have Trauma Center ethier.
I dont think Capcom has underproduced too many of its games this generation?
Capcom + undeproduce should never be used in the same sentence

This is actually a remake of the orginal, which is a GBA game. From what I heard it is the new case that really use the stylus. As for swqual, they are making the fourth game for DS. As for the names, in Japanese they are sort of a pun. In the US version they just made up new jokes.

DAmn my EB wont be getting it until tomorrow. I can't wait. I been playing the hell out of trauma center but i need to switch it up a little. Finally good games for the DS!!!!

Well SAR E, I was making an assumption.

Don't know why that one dude picked up SSX over this, esp. after wombat said it sucked.

I'm gonna pick up either this or Trauma Center tomorrow. Probably Trauma Center if EB has it since it seems kind of hard to find, even though I feel like I should get Phoenix Wright first just because I'm in law school.

Get em both. DO IT!

Generally law games aren't my thing (yeah right, like I've played one before), but this game has got be intruiged. Is it that good?

May pick it up when it's released in Britannique...

I want it, but I'm currently still playing Castlevania AND Truam Center AND Tactics Ogre KOL, so my DS is working overtime. I just hope I can snag it while it's still available!

People that have spent a good amount of time with this now, is it a good pickup at $30? It's not quite DSly unique for me to be flocking to it, but I could really go for an adventure game.
the last couple of weeks have been great. Trace Memory, Trauma Center, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
You're not kidding. I also want to get Castlevania and Lost in the Blue. I'm very excited about my DS.

Yes.

I got mine today directly from Capcom. I ordered from the website for the stylus, but ended up getting a T-Shirt, the japanese accessory pack (stylus, screen cleaner, and wrist strap), and a Capcom catalog.

Damn, that stuff is really, really cool. Had I known it was available I definitely would have ordered from Capcom.

Just finished the first case (with Larry, clock, etc) and I'm really liking it so far. It's point and click goodness, pure and simple. I do agree that I wish I could direct the argument a little more, but this is still presented really well and the style is irresistable.

I think the zaniness factor needs to be multipled by about ten. Like when you yell objection, it needs to be ludicrously overblown, like an anime show making fun of itself. Slow mo, extreme close ups, etc. I realize that doing that sort of thing could get old quickly, but if it were done well it would work out. There does need to be a voice element to the game - perhaps a bit of training in the beginning for "objection" and "hold it" and "take that" or whatever.

I shouldn't really speculate when I've only played one mission though. Meh.

I'd say to get it now. In a few months it might be gone. I can't imagine Capcom making a big run with this game.

Im going to try to get the capcom goodies off Ebay or something. They are pretty sweet.

I just finished the 3rd case, its intense.

played through the first case today, getting it tomorrow. Reccomend everyone else follow suit.

Sorry for the pun. Seriously, get this game, support good DS games that use its features!

The first case is a decent sample, but it's really more of a "tutorial case". I just finished up the second one and it was much more dynamic and drawn out (in a good way). I'm enjoying it thus far, but as others have said I would have liked a little more "room to manuver" although if it was it might become quite easy to get thrown off track and frustrated. I also don't see a high level of replay value as of yet... unless there some cool unlockables or bonus missions. I'm honestly cool with that though, as point and click adventures by their very nature tend to lack that kinda thing. Still it's extremely entertaining.

Yeah, I have to smile when people complain about the linear nature of this game. I've not played it yet, but just about every point-and-click adventure is linear. I'd take linear over wandering around without a clue as to what to do anyday :)

Anyone who owns a DS has to buy this title immediately. Stop whatever you're doing and go buy it. NOW!

EDIT: edison, what size shirt is that? I hope it's at least 2X, but they probably did that XL shit like everyone else does.

got it, love it. Damn funny translation and the cases take longer than i thought they would. I totally recomend it

Being totally sold out almost everywhere around me, I opted to get this one when I went into a Gamestop that had one in stock. 1/2 way through the 2nd trial. It's a blast so far. I highly recommend it. Maybe not a whole lot of replay value, but certainly one to let friends play who may not be able to find the game or who don't have a DS (almost a crime now with the wave of games coming!)

Just beat the fourth episode. Whew that was a biggie. The ending made me kinda sad  rofl

I need to find the picture from the ending, with Gumshoe, Harry, Phoenix, Maya, and Edgeworth. If anyone can find me it I's appreciate it.

picked this up yesterday. i've only played through the first episode, and even though it is somewhat of a tutorial, I really like it :)

finished Castlevania last week, so right now I am attempting to juggle both this game and Trauma Center for play time :)

go DS.
Has anyone gotten this game at EB? Their website doesnt show any store instock
No, but it's in-stock on the site and in-stock B&M at three locations near me..

It's only in-stock at one EB near me, and it's one that I have no idea where it is (that is, it doesn't normally appear in the list of the 3 or 4 closest to me).

why do they always make shirts so huge...I wear small shirts. Whenever i get one of these "gaming" shirts, i put it on and I feel like i'm wearing a dress. And the shirt never sees the light of day again.

You are hilarious. Thanks for the good laugh.

just finished up Chapter 3 the other day, and I will say that I am enjoying the game a whole lot. it reminds me of the old Carmen Sandiego games I used to play on the PC. I wish the game utilized the DS touch-screen technology a little more, but what it does offer is really fun. I've yet to scream objection into the microphone haha :)

Chapter 3 was exactly what I wanted from this game and everything that I knew it could be. It didn't tell you the killer (good move), it let you discover the clues without already knowing the conclusion.. it was great. I'm just sad that I only have 4 and 5 left to go, I wish there were 10 or 15 cases.. oh well. I really hope that Chapter 4 & 5 are similar to Chapter 3.

Chapter 4 is like 3, but definitely a harder case.

I haven't gotten into 5 yet, but I'm really glad I picked this up.

yeah this game is great. I hope they do the series in the US. I guess if enough pple actually purchase it they just might. I wish i woudl have gotten the limited edition set. The stylus is pretty funny. Oh well. Definately a must buy game!! I just hope that this game gets enough good reviews to warrant the rest of the series.

Chapter 5 is epic! You do fingerprinting by sprinkling powder and blowing into the mic for it to go away. You also have to search for traces of blood. I've been working on this case for a long time. It's crazy long. I'm finally wrapping it up. (probably another 3+ hours since I have a few witnesses but I think I have it figured out)

And of course, Chapter 4 immediately lets me down by revealing the killer right off the fucking bat.

*sigh* It's just not as fun when you know who did it. I still love the game, I just really wish I was in the dark, just like Phoenix and Maya are.

I assure you, you will not be disappointed in Chapter 4. And I won't say more because I don't wish to spoil it.

just got the game.

mother fucking awesome, it's everything i expected and then some.

hopefully Capcom will let the US have some more Phoenix Wright soon.

just mother fucking awesome.

Saved me some typing there. I finished the game yesterday, and I have to say I haven't enjoyed a game as thoroughly as this one from start to finish in a long time. After the marathon that is the fifth case, I'd expect to be tired and ready to move on to a new game. Instead I sit here wishing for a quickie expansion pack or something.

It's ridiculous that even though the game was very linear and I'd usually know what was coming, I'd still get a rise out of every time a revelation in the case was presented... the upbeat music starts playing and the witness freaks out...

Speaking of the music, does anyone know where I can get the songs in mp3? I heard there was a soundtrack released in Japan for this game.

a soundtrack comes with the Limited Edition of the Japanese version, which is already kinda hard to find.

Yeah, I couldn't take it anymore. Tracked down a copy of the GBA version and ripped the songs, converted to MP3.. they're a bit rougher since it was on the GBA, but they're the same songs.

So is Chapter 3 much better than Chapter 2? Because I'm on 2, and it's starting to lose momentum. Too much boring text. I loved the first case -- it was funny and exciting. Chapter 2 is getting annoyingly wordy and there is nothing going on.
