Explore more of the hidden shadows of the Sith with this sequel to the hit game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Starkiller, Darth Vader's apprentice, returns with over-the-top Force powers and embarks on a journey to discover his own identity and to reunite with his one true love, Juno Eclipse. With all-new devastating Force powers and the ability to dual-wield lightsabers, Starkiller cuts a swath through deadly new enemies across exciting worlds from the Star Wars films -- all in his desperate search for answers to his past.

Second Prize - The Godfather II (XBox 360 or Playstation 3, Winner's Choice)

2hz61ig.jpg

The Godfather II game goes beyond the film's story by setting players in the world of organized crime in 1960’s Florida, Cuba and New York.
After being promoted by Michael Corleone to Don of New York, players expand to new cities, as they build up their families through extorting businesses, monopolizing illegal crime rings and defeating new families in an effort to become the most powerful mob family in America. To help players manage their empire, The Godfather II introduces "The Don's View" -- an innovative strategy meta-game that allows players to oversee the entire world as they grow the family business. Using the Don's View, players will be able to build, defend and expand their crime rings, while keeping an eye on the movements and plans of the rival families. Players will also learn to master the business of organized crime by building a family of Made Men, hiring crew, handing out orders, and promoting their best men up the ranks.

Third Prize - You're in the Movies (XBox 360)

e00het.jpg

This is the game only, no camera included. Get ready for your close-up. You're in the Movies brings the cool factor to kitsch as you live out your dreams of becoming a scream queen, zombie or kung fu fighter. This game is the first and only game of its kind to literally transport players into a magical world of cinema mixed with the hilarious world of improvisation. Using the Xbox LIVE Vision camera, players’ actions are captured and placed into short, riotous films. Performances never end up on the cutting-room floor, and are never the same.

Fourth Prize - James Bond 007: From Russia with Love (Playstation 2)

2qxvyip.jpg

James Bond 007 : From Russia With Love will be the first game to put players in the universe of the classic James Bond films. Set in the original 60's Bond era, the game features movie-based missions as well as original, action-intensive sequences, a broad and deep variety of gameplay, fully-integrated vehicles, social multiplayer experiences, gorgeous women, and classic, upgradeable weapons and gadgetry with modern mechanics.

Ugh, I still can't believe $30 is a deal for MW2. Looks like I'll be waiting a bit longer, hopefully it'll drop when Black Ops comes out. If not, I'll live without it.

And about the positive/negative experience, I'm pretty sure this is the place I got LBP for $20 last year and didn't have any problems with it being slow or anything.

Don't you hate always having to play last year's CoD? I bought the Prestige Edition for a relatively low price awhile back, and still need a playable copy.

Is this the OFFICIAL retail 360 250GB HDD just without the transfer cable, or is this some type of refurb?

Edit: Just checked the site and it IS NOT the OFFICIAL MS HDD but some type of refurb/custom one.
If it was official, I'd be all over it. But i seriously doubt it is since it's new and $50.
The same boat, we're in it.
Are there risks associated with using a non-official HD if it's still new?
Some people say there is a chance you may get banned by Microsoft but I don't know if that's true. Additionally, third-party HDs won't let you play BC original Xbox games.
I'm all over it if it's official so please let us know, drfrielgood!
"This is NOT an official Microsoft brand hard drive."

It says it on GDD it's not an official one.

I would have gotten this if it was though. Oh well.

If the person who formatted the HDD on the computer properly and adding the right partitions, then yes, you can play BC original xbox games.

I had one off ebay of the 120gb for a long time...up till I got the slim, and it is now in my sons room...it works perfect and is BC...

The problem is there is no way to know the quality of this one compared to the one I have because they crank these bad boys out like candy in china....

if anyone is on the fence i say build your own 250gb harddrive. that way if something goes wrong you will still have an undo.bin file to use the drive as pc storage

I really wish some people would think before posting 3rd party junk like this on CAG. :shame:

Added a note to the OP and OP title about this being a 3rd party / non-MS drive, so it's at their own risk to use.
The picture in the OP is hella misleading.
Why is it misleading? That's what it looks like when it gets to you... Just because it's not official doesn't mean it has to look different...

Third party junk? I've got a third party harddrive in my 360 and it's fucking great and cost less than half the price that Microsoft was charging for the same size. You should know better if you're going to be a moderator. :shame:

I think shrike is just saying that it's not an official drive, and to just be careful. Personally, I've never seen anyone get banned for using one (modded drives, yes, but not these); my brother got one of these awhile ago, and it's working great for him.

The only difference is, as pointed out already, you can't play any original Xbox games on these (I tried it out on my console before I gave it to my brother).

Also, the picture is accurate. The only way to tell the difference, is besides the text being slightly different, under the bottom, instead of the official Microsoft Seal / Symbol, you'll either have it blank, or some other sticker in it's place. They still work fine, regardless, but still; I can see where Shrike is coming from.

It may cost less, but you always have the possibility of being banned. Sure, it might not happen to everyone, but it's not guaranteed it won't happen to you.

I think the reaction was more towards the fact that it originally wasn't advertised as a third party HDD. I assume if it was, the comments would have been different.

My friend has been using a 3rd party 120gb from hong kong for almost 2 years now with no problems (hasn't been banned), but it's never 100% guaranteed.

I am sorry but someone please correct me here if I am wrong. I could have swore that selling BOOTLEG items was expressly prohibited on this website. If this is the case, why in the hell is this guy being allowed to advertise his selling of blatant bootleg items?

And for anyone who wants to argue whether or not this is a bootleg item, lets make this simple for you. It is not an official Microsoft item. Microsoft has not licensed the rights to anyone to make a 3rd party hard drive for thier system. Therefore, this is a BOOTLEG item plain and simple.

I dont buy from this place specifically because they are always so misleading. You may have some great deals regardless but when something is a knock off or an import it needs to be advertised as such, including in the thread title.

For someone else to have to come and waste their time editing your titles for reasons like that is a joke. If you can't do it right don't do it at all.

This is truly some lazy shit on both fronts. Friel probably should have noted in the OP that this is a third-party product, but he does give this information on his storefront product page. It's not ideal, but if you can't do the due diligence and read up before you purchase something, that's your own fault. It's not like he's advertising official hardware and shipping something different.

Additionally, he's always been just fine as far as customer service is concerned. If you bought this not initially knowing that it's third-party, I can practically guarantee you that he'd accept it back and issue you a refund.

While he did initially make a mistake, it doesn't necessitate this nonsense. I'd personally prefer he "does it at all" because I've gotten some pretty good deals from his site. Speak for yourself.

Yes you can, you have to manually get partition 2 off of your hard drive with the transfer cable.

And people saying you get banned from this are retarded, the third party hard drive problem Microsoft had was with Datel. No one has ever gotten banned for only having a 3rd party hard drive, it's a WD drive and not bootleg either.

Some people are fucking ridiculous (that's not directed towards you, legendkiller)

Let me make this more clear for you.

The following comes directly from www.Dictionary.com:

Main Entry: bootleg
Function: verb
Inflected Forms: boot·legged ; boot·leg·ging
transitive verb 1 : to produce, reproduce, or distribute without authorization or license

Now, since it has already been stated, and the OP and Thread Title had to be changed by a mod, that these ARE NOT official MS produced or licensed hard drives, that means one and only one thing. THEY ARE BOOTLEG ITEMS. Plain and simple, cut and dry. They are no different from the crap that the chinese sellers on Ebay are selling which everyone is quick to call bootleg. Explain to me why these are so different?

Oh, I know it's possible, I'm just saying, unless you actually go and mod this drive yourself, that they aren't BC from the get-go. My brother doesn't play original Xbox games, so it doesn't matter to him anyway, so not a big deal; but sorry, should have stated that more clearly in what I wrote.

@Spyder187: The term "3rd party" is better suited. It's like saying you bought a USB cable for your iPod. You didn't get Apple's, so you got either a Startech, Belkin, or Griffin wire. That's a third party cable. It works the same as the official one, but it's not official. Honestly, there is no difference in quality; just brand name.

If you consider this a bootleg, then you should have to consider all forms of non-official releases (even such things as a simple USB cable) as bootlegs as well.

Thanks for that lesson, do you own one of these drives to say something about the crap coming out of china? Have you purchased one and opened it to see what kind of drive is inside? I would assume not, they aren't no name brand hard drives inside since you need to use either the actual drive that microsoft uses, or a western digital.

If it could ban your 360, it is surely bootlegged.

Here's from Dictionary.com, it's the first definition rather than the 4th which comes from a legal dictionary and isn't even the legal term of it.
boot·leg   [boot-leg] Show IPA noun, verb, -legged, -leg·ging, adjective
–noun
1.
alcoholic liquor unlawfully made, sold, or transported, without registration or payment of taxes.
2.
the part of a boot that covers the leg.
3.
something, as a recording, made, reproduced, or sold illegally or without authorization: a flurry of bootlegs to cash in on the rock star's death.
–adjective
6.
made, sold, or transported unlawfully.
7.
illegal or clandestine.

What's illegal about this? And take into account that now you can have usb storage on the 360. Do you HAVE to buy the microsoft branded thumb drives? No. Microsoft got their lawsuit with Datel thrown out IIRC.

Actually, no that is not a correct response to the identification of bootleg. That is the definition of 3rd party. Belkin, Startech, etc have all gone to the original designer of the USB cable and gotten direct permission to reproduce this item. They arent making "Apple USB Cables" they are making USB cables period. These USB cables can be used on any device that usues a USB cable.

The difference here is the fact that this hard drive design is SPECIFIC to a Microsift Licensed item. No oter type of item uses the hard drive as it is configured for use with the Microsoft 360. Yes, inside the actual hard drive may be a western digital which may be in fact the one Microsoft actually uses, but thats where the similarities end. You can just buy a western digital hard drive an put it on your 360 can you? No, it had to be connected to other hardware to it could interface with the 360. That is what makes it a unique item. Microsoft has not licensed or given any other company permission to manufacture the cases and other hardware needed to attach the hard drives to the 360 units. That alone is what changes this from being a subject of 3rd party crap to actually being a bootlegged item.

This is not me being nit-picky with words here, this is actually a matter of corporate law. This is something for once I actually do know quite a bit about per my area of study in college. I dont really care if you guys buy the things and use it, I just dont get the double standard on here of regular users not being allowed to buy, trade, or sell bootleg items vs this company being allowed to do so.

I can totally understand the confusion on this matter as most consumers don't really know the difference between 3rd party items and bootleg items these days due to the web being flooded with so many of either type. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a 3rd party item as they 99% of the time work just as well as the OEM items at a fraction of the cost. The difference is that bootleg items offer you the consumer no recourse if they cause any types of problems and most of the time the proceeds from them go to support very shady causes.

I used the 4th definition due to it being the legal definition for a reason. However lets go with what you posted.

3.
something, as a recording, made, reproduced, or sold illegally or without authorization: a flurry of bootlegs to cash in on the rock star's death.
–adjective

That right there once more by definition posted from you shows that this item is in fact a bootleg item. It is being produced without express permission from Microsoft.

As far as the usb drive situation, that again is an entirely different matter. Usb drives are a universal item that are all the same design and work the same way. The difference here is for the hard drive to work on the 360 it has to be reconfigured to not only fit the system, but if I am not mistaken you also have to do something to the actual memry system to make it work.

You really are trying to compare apples and oranges in this situation here.

Last year when the new update made 3rd party memory cards useless, Major Nelson responded to questions on his blog and said that hard drives that were not Official Microsoft hard drives would not be banned. Nobody has ever been banned for that.
Last year when the new update made 3rd party memory cards useless, Major Nelson responded to questions on his blog and said that hard drives that were not Official Microsoft hard drives would not be banned. Nobody has ever been banned for these.
Yeah, I've been looking at tons of message boards trying to find someone who claims to have been banned for a 3rd party hard drive, I haven't found any. I'm starting to think everyone is getting up in arms over something silly and trivial.

To be clear on one thing, I never said anything about people getting banned or anything like that over these things. I am just bringing into question the issue of buying, selling, trading bootleg items on this website and the rules against it here.

I myself have never heard of anyone being banned for using these bootleg harddrives, only one fool I know got thier warranty voided due to telling a MS rep over the phone they were using one when they called about thier system getting a RROD. That was his own stupidity for telling them that though as I dont know if they have any way of knowing and you dont send in your HD for a console repair anyways.

Is there any issues with using a third part hard drive? I've got 2 360's that could use an upgrade in space...this could be helpful

Just an update on my experience so far with GameDealDaily.com...

I purchased a Bad Company 2 VIP code from them when it was the daily deal at $5.95. My VIP code was already in use. Buyer beware. I'm still waiting to hear back and get a valid code or a refund.

Edit: After PMing Drfrielgood on here, I finally got a new legit code. If you're trying to get in touch with him, try PMing him here.
No one was giving him a hard time lately...but a lot of times it's normal around here on CAG to put X.XX Shipped!
i have brought this point before

he will avoid this and may not even quote neither of us.
i also hate it that he has time to change the heading and post his sales and space to put Gamedealdaily.com on the header but not enough space or time to put the damn shipping price

this is the only CAG thread on the front page that is actually "misleading", every thread will have a shipment price on the OP and if not, many CAGs will attack the OP for creating a thread with a 0.01 game without the hidden 8.99 shipment.
