PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

Maybe it's the scarcity of the SO bundles but when I sold my game on eBay I sold it for $49.  Not much less than a physical copy.  Go figure.  The buyer was from the UK though so there's that.

They can't hope to go as low as Microsoft is, but they aren't that desperate and don't need to be with the current sales of the console. I expect the Grand Theft Auto 5 bundle will really push sales as despite being a remake it's still a game that sells really well and I think a lot of people will want to upgrade to the next-gen version.

Realistically speaking Sony's bundle is valued at $330 including the cost of the games ($50 GTA 5, $30 TLOU).

Microsoft's bundle is valued at $270 including the cost of the games ($50 ACU, $10 AC4). However several retailers will offer even lower priced deals, but I expect those will be in really limited supply.

Do you guys think the Xbox One prices are as advertised "temporary price cuts" and that they'll revert back to $399/$499 in January or do you think they'll keep them as price drops?

I know in the past with the 360 they always ballooned back up to MSRP----but it seems like a really silly way to kill any momentum they build in November and December.

Don't even remember 360 having temporary price drops or any system for that matter.

Just wouldn't make sense to bring it back up...is it going to go back to $350 with it's first "permanent" price drop?

I can't see it being good business to raise the price after January. I don't fully understand their game plan with the price drop in mind. If they drop the price after January then people aren't going to be purchasing the system knowing it was just recently considerably cheaper, and they're going to need some momentum in February/March since the only currently announced exclusive coming out is Screamride.

I don't know. I'm not sure if saying "Just for the holiday's" was a way build up sales, but I can't see them raising the price going into next year.

It also looks like LBP3 will be a digital code. Im happy about that since maybe someone will sell them on the cheap somewhere like the Unity/SO ones haha.

Yup! Sony knows to sell units. XO on the otherhand bundled a broken game with their BF units. Ouch! Probably wished they produced more SSO bundles that faired well

They did the last few years. Black Friday Bundles dropped too like $200 bucks with two games the last few years.

True, there's a ton of negativity surrounding Unity at the moment so it could have a negative impact on that bundles sales.

I've ran into one crashing issue with Unity and that's it. While it is rough around the edges I'm enjoying the hell out of it. It's becoming my new favorite Assassin's Creed game.

No way MS raises the price after the holidays. It will be $399 vs. $349.99 until Sony announces a price cut at E3.

I dont think most parents are aware of whats going on with that game and will still buy it for their kids.

These same things were being said back in March/April when they lowered the Titanfall bundle $100 and in some cases $150 and they did eventually go back to full price. However they also did announce the Kinect free bundle shortly after so it gave the illusion of retaining that price. I think it will be harder to return to $399 this time, but then again $50 isn't as dramatic of a difference so who knows.

I don't think MS will raise the price back unless they either "win" Nov. & Dec. or come extremely close. If PS4 outsells it by large-ish margins yet again then there's no way they go back to $399. I actually wouldn't be surprised at all if that's their game plan, just taking a wait and see approach to the whole thing.

As for Unity, I too am enjoying it quite a bit. The story & variety is fine and I haven't ran into any substantial bugs so far. If they issue a patch to lock the frame rate at least around 30-40 FPS minimum then my only complaint would be fixed. The new engine is pretty remarkable, the frame rate just kills it sometimes. I would think it is an easy enough fix, and it's far from a "broken" game.

After listening to this week Beyond, they were talking about No Mans Sky at the event in December. I was thinking, wouldn't it be awesome if they announced a PS4 exclusive beta for it at the end of Dec? They could have the beta run during the Halo beta on XB1.

Isn't no man's sky an exclusive title?

last night i was playing the binding of isaac and today when i turn on my ps4, the game is completely gone. wtf

thank god ive been uploading my save via the cloud.

Well im close to done with AC Unity and its really not a bad game. The story is pretty bland though and feels a lot like the very first Assassin's Creed in that regard. The Multiplayer is pretty found though. Will prob finish this up this week and trade it back in but will pick it up for sure again when it gets cheap to do the other stuff.

Man, I really wish you could delete/hide stuff from the library. I got demos, betas, and games I no longer have up in there. :whistle2:(

^ You also have games that are already on your dash there too. I think the library is a cool idea but they need to let you hide the stuff you dont want. As it stands now, its useless.

Sure, here it is next to the LBP2 CE plush. LBP2 one is better but the new one was free so lol Sorry for the crappy phone pics.

So I picked up GTA, WWE, and FarCry today. And still have Unity and COD both still sealed. Have the day off work and the house to myself, finally some me time. Think I'll check out WWE, then hit up GTA or FarCry. I'm going to have a couple Keys to Kyrat that I won't have anyone to share with. So if any fellow CAGs want to send me an invite, if your on after I settle in, maybe we could play some Co Op.

PSN= bleedingwicked.

honest question, why buy 3 more games brand new when you still have 2 sealed? wait for black friday sales and you could have picked up probably all 3 of those for cheaper.

Those 3 games are not on sale on Black Friday. With Best Buy GCU and $10 certificate he didn't pay close to retail for those games.

I don't know if they ever answered this, but can you give a friend multiple Keys to Kyrat? For instance could I just give one friend all 10 once they run out so we could continuously play together?

All is right with the world, PS4 is back at #1 on Amazon and the Xbox bundles are dropping like rocks.  Guess it is true that price drops only spike sales temporarily.

GTA is looking real good on the PS4. Im gonna beat the whole game again on just FPM which is amazing. Also, the DS4 gets a lot of good use. Hearing phone convos and police chatter on the speaker is awesome. PS4 is also the definitive version going by some screens.

I think people are underestimating the PS4 this Holiday. I was too at first when MS announced the price cut but i think sales will be close and I wont be shocked if Sony manages to pull out a win.

All digital is such a waste, once you buy it you are stuck with it forever, no selling or trading.  You usually pay full retail price for the game and miss out on deals like GCU and $10 certs or buy 2 get 1 free or the various other deals out there.  Other than convenience I don't know why anyone, especially CAGs, would even consider going all digital.

After it was all said and done I paid about $36 each for most games in the past 4 months. I still have Sunset Overdrive that I barely started. There's just too many games that I was excited for and not enough time to play them. Now I'll be good for awhile and I still have about $90 worth of points at BB.

You can only give 1 key per person. I was curious if you can receive multiple keys from different people myself.
