PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

How many annuals surpass expectations and bring a new experience each time they're released?

Then ask yourself how many annuals get released where people bitch about one aspect or another and regret their purchase with some sort of claim like "last time I buy "X" on release"?
The issue isn't so much that it isn't outperforming last years game but that it is performing better on the Xbox One. It makes little sense since last years Black Flag ran at a higher resolution and performed better on the PS4. And when it's actually performing worse than the Xbox One version it starts to raise red flags.

Aren't we speaking on performance issues?

unity is even running like poop on pc that says something. With that said im not sure why the game is getting hate for frame rate issues. it's something that 100 percent can be fixed with a patch. im really enjoying the game.

Ubisoft games usually run like shit on PC because they really don't care about the PC market.

assassins creed is the most milked franchise out right now. CoD's and sports games come out once a year. theres 2 AC's coming out this year and we all know they are going to port Rogue to the new system in 6-8 months.

i played ac 2, found it insanely boring and never played another one since.

The games are hit and miss, but I've enjoyed a lot of them. It sounds like outstanding bugs aside Unity is very good so I'll hold judgement until I play it for myself.

I hear the game looks great but the variety of missions and side missions are very watered down and there is like no character progress and the story is uninteresting.

More so the yearly releases, don't think you can honestly say any AC game sucks unless you're just not a fan of the franchise.

Well ive played all of them (didn't beat IV but beat the others)

One was boring, 2 was great, brotherhood was great, Revelations was ok but felt like DLC, III was pretty damn boring but IV was pretty fun.

For me it goes 2 > Brotherhood > Black Flag > Revelations > 3 > One as far as best to worse. Black Flag bought the series back up but the 2 before that really started to bring the series down.

As I said I'll hold my judgement until I play it myself. It seems like some people on GAF are enjoying the game and the characters in it despite the fact that several reviews have mentioned the characters and story being crap.

I've enjoyed most of the games in the series with AC3 and Revelations being the odd balls out.

well i meant more its what ive heard from people and not so much just reviews. Ill play it my self and see how it is. Just now im going in with low expectations

Yeah, can't comment on Revelation or ACIII since I skipped out on those.

Took a break from it.  ACIV was pretty good outside of the pirating requirements.

I love the series.. hence my avatar.. I'm really disappointed to hear all the reviews of Unity.  But I'm so glad that Rogue is getting great reviews.

Right around my bday. I'm okay with this. They can take as much time as they need to make sure the game works day one.

if they can get more networks... it will be one of the cheapest cable only options.
More networks means higher cost. Adding ESPN alone would cost over $8 a month.

If it were a la carte pricing, I would definitely take a look at it, but I'm not paying for channels I don't want to watch or support.

Maybe, but to use it, you would still need Internet access. So its not whether its cheaper than cable by itself, but is it cheaper than the difference companies charge from upgrading Internet to Internet + TV.

Sorry if there's a support page on this, but I couldn't find anything Google searching blindly.

Does anyone know if you can transfer over those extended PS4 warranties you buy on PSN? I'm thinking about trading in my system and then picking up a bundle on BF (Maybe a White one if I can find a deal), but it's important to figure out if that warranty can be moved or not since I spent $60 on it.

^ Hmm, you're probably going to have to call Sony and ask them. Sony also won this months NPD again but I think their run will come to an end next month.

I'm pretty sure it's tried to your PSN name and System Serial, so I would say you can not transfer it. But if you sign in on another PS4, I would think it'd show up as purchased. What makes you want to trade it in? Especially just to buy it again.

TRANSFERABILITY:
This Service Plan is not transferable to any other product or person.
I recently upgraded to the white destiny ps4 and traded in my launch ps4 with the playstation protection plan. Sony wouldn't allow me to transfer it to the new PS4, they are currently processing (4-6 weeks) a partial refund for me.

I have a feeling they willl pull an upset and take next month, nothing will stop the Sony train. Also, PS Vue seems nice, but it cant be more then $30 for me to jump in.

I'm surprised there isn't a FAQ page. I searched Google for the better part of 5 minutes trying to find out what's the backward compatibility of the PS4 controller on the PS3 regarding the analog triggers. It took me switching a few key terms like analog to GTA5 to get anything. I should've have been surprised the the PS4 registers as a regular controller like any other like the PS2 to USB, just with bluetooth. Sony updated the firmware just for bluetooth. :wall:

The reason I write this is because I am not satisfied with the PS3 controller's feeling of cheap plastic.

I dont see that happening. maybe the power of GTAV will make it closer then Im expecting but they wont win it.

Well, remember as far as the 10 million SHIPPED comment goes they did just put out 4 new skus at the same time so that is a big factor into the extra units being shipped to the retailers.

and the fact the it's the holidays and they want them overstocked. I went in to my best buy and they had a two story pyramid of Xbox ones.... So yea it is easy to ship a crap ton, but why won't MS ever give us actual numbers sold. When was the last time they did that even?

13.3 million PS4s sold, 10 million Xbox ones shipped... so then what 8 million sold? That is quite a difference if near that?

Now dont take it as me saying its not selling well because I'm sure it is. Just dont read to much into the 10 million shipped number since there are a lot of factors behind it.

MS PR spin as always with that shipped number. Also, if you're having problems with shareplay like me and thought games were being removed, fear not.

BF deals officially annouced. I like the contrast of both bundles, one aimed for adults and one for the family. It also looks like LBP3 will be a digital code. Im happy about that since maybe someone will sell them on the cheap somewhere like the Unity/SO ones haha.

Yeah those bundles offer some great diversity for the holiday season. Looking back I'm kind of surprised Microsoft didn't do a family focused bundle since they could have throw in a physical copy of Minecraft.

I do like that LBP and Lego bundle more because they're not remasters that most people played already, I think that might turn people off a bit? That being said, I feel they should've added a PS Plus subscription or some PSN credit to both since MS still comes way under in price.
