So Major Nelson had a thing to say.

Announce a console without actually showing a console? That's one approach

Nintendo did that same thing at E3. Not that it's a bright idea per se.

EDIT: Maybe it's shaped in a way that clearly doesn't allow optical discs to be used, and they didn't want to tip their hat that everything on PS4 is going to be digital. Probably not, but just a thought.
And where the fuck was The Last Guardian?
I was so certain this was going to be a launch title for PS4 and being a no show pretty much puts this one as dead. Even if it does release, being last gen will kill a lot of momentum with the PS4 coming this year.

I must say that Sony absolutely nailed this conference and E3 will have a tough act to follow. My only WTF moment was the Myst game called The Witness lol. All this power and they make that? Obviously a nod to indie devs as a business move, inviting them to the party as well.

Oh and I thought they were going to drop an absolute bomb with Blizzard, only to see it was Diablo III. Newsflash Blizzard, nobody cares.

Most of the juice is probably going to be announced at e3.

This conference was meant to generate interest in the console throughout the year.

To be honest none of the games they showed perked my interest at all except for Watch Dogs.

The most interesting thing for me was the twitch.tv type of streaming services available and the revamped cloud technology. This is really cool and it's nice to see a glimpse of the future.

Vita remote play looks great if they can deliver what they are claiming.

Nice little teaser before e3 Sony. :D

I'm not sold. The graphics were pretty and some of the games looked good, but I can wait a couple years. My PS3 still has lots of use left in it.

Something tells me MS won't make the same mistake. At least we got to see the revamped controller which looks good.

IMO Nintendo gave the other guys too much information and time by announcing in 2011. Sony has effectively marginalized the Wii U (even more than it already was) with that controller, Vita play, etc.
Are people really ecpectimg Sony to lay out all their cards on the table at day 1? Come on now...
Well they certainly spent a lot of money to hype nothing outside of release date.
Is Diablo 3 really a system seller? It's already been beat to death (no pun intended) on PC. No one's to say it can't be announced for 360/720 as well.

Decent first party titles shown with multiplatform stuff shown. Meh.

They could have at least said the price and shown how the console looks.

Waiting for them to repeat the broadcast. Since it's next gen, it'd better be able to handle the new HD. 1080P is so 2010.

I don't have many gripes with the conference but was very disappointed it ended without Uncharted 4, I figured that would be a big launch title to bring people in and would fall in the every other year title. I know 2 Naughty Dog titles in a year is probably a bit much though so maybe I shouldn't have expected it.

Lots of nice ideas and forward thinking regarding the system.
We're sure to get a lot more details leading up to the holiday, and especially at E3.

Hopefully these ideas work. If so, I'm in.
Games were too early for me to judge. The Capcom game and Watch Dogs are the only interesting ones to me. But I know it's incredibly early, and I was looking at shitty streams.

Where's the direct feed?

I am excited for the new consoles but I am also realizing the things I care about are not the things that are being focused on. ALL of the social stuff is not what I care about and even remote play does not interest me yet (it is a cool feature though). At this point I am happy with what I have and maybe summer/holiday 2014 I might be willing to buy the PS4.
it's bad for sony to be having a system out in 8 months and no price
yes because we totally didnt find out the Wii U's price until 2 months before launch

I missed much of this, but caught some of it in Gamestop, as they had it playing when I walked in. Forgot this was happening.

Did they lay the "no more used games" bullshit to rest yet?

Okay, I am pumped. Day 1 for me, assuming these are all launch releases:

-Top SKU console
-Destiny
-Infamous: Second Son
-Watch Dogs
-Knack

Also very interested in eventually grabbing Witness and Diablo 3

To me how a console looks is the least important thing. I dont buy it for decor. The main objective was to be in peoples mind.

So again, pretty much everything and leaving little for E3? Its a smart move. Dont give Microsoft news that they can capitalize on. No specific date means Microsoft doesnt know if they will release first, no price means Microsoft doesnt know what price point to beat, and look of system...eh, not really sure there.

I may boycott it on morals alone with the bullshit of this event.

Naughty Dog has never continued a series from one generation to the next, plus they've already moved past Uncharted. I highly doubt there will be an Uncharted 4, especially not from Naughty Dog.

these 2 post have too much logic for people to grasp

Unfortunately, I don't have a good gaming PC.

No exciting exclusives means they're setting up a silver platter for MS.

I'd prefer them to start a new IP on the PS4, but I wouldn't like them to abandon Uncharted. :(
it's bad for sony to be having a system out in 8 months and no price
They can't announce the price because MS hasn't announced it's console yet. It would make them uncompetitive.

No price is a business move. They're not going to tip their hand to M$ this early rofl.
Announcing a console without actually showing it. Okaaaaaaaaaay.
We got specs, which if they deliver on, looks very promising.
Unfortunately, I don't have a good gaming PC.
You still on Windows 3.0 or something?

No Uncharted 4?! Die in a fire Sony.

Nothing for me in this conference. Final Fantasy and Diablo are exciting but those will be multiplat so whatever. The social features and video sharing looked great but I have a feeling Microsoft will match or exceed whatever Sony brings to the table. Other than that it was a bunch of games I don't care about. Yawn.
They can't announce the price because MS hasn't announced it's console yet. It would make them uncompetitive.
Yeah MS will 1 up sony on this one and show the console infront of everyone and not just a controller.
No exciting exclusives means they're setting up a silver platter for MS.
Which, again, could be saved for E3.....

Giving Microsoft a silver platter would be giving them everything up front so they know Sony has no more bullets in the barrel come E3.
Can anyone answer my question? Did they mention anything about the "no used games" rumor?
They did not. I think it's safe to put this silly rumor to rest.

i agree with some people this 2 hours for me was meh. Alot of games that was talked about and showed was nothing worth buying a ps4 on day one. Yes im sure i will buy it day 1 because im a geek and need the new tech. With that said seems like just like wii u it will be a slow first couple months.
Yeah MS will 1 up sony on this one and show the console infront of everyone and not just a controller.
Or Sony cam steal Microsofts thunder at E3 by showing their console too. Right now, Microsoft has no thunder.

I really hope none of you go into marketing.

Well, they had the gaming world at the edge of their seats for this, and ended up showing... the same old sony first party exclusives with no selling power and a bunch of multiplat stuff. I think it was a buzzkill rather than building momentum. Guess we'll see.

Rumor was that MS was ready to launch the Xbox 720 last year but didn't because of the Kinect selling decently. If that's true, hopefully they'll have some AAA titles that will launch with the console.
