PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

I've heard Pro Evo has been pretty poor in recent years, but I'll definitely try it out for free. I'll grab Puppeteer also and I always grab the Vita games in case I ever get one.
you really should get one if you can swing the cost. I had some reservations about it too at first but now I'm thrilled to have mine! *especially for persona 4 and on-the-go pinball!*

He wants to punch people in the face because their expectations of the $4 and change (or less if they got plus on a deal) they spent for PS+ for the month of May are beyond unreal. I'm quite disappointed in the Vita offerings especially when EU got Muramasa Rebirth, also not a fan of the Soccer game, but I'm still more than content with what is being offered here. Stick it to the Man is a $15 game and Puppeteer is selling for around that too so the value is there. Of course I'll be too busy playing Child of Light, Transistor and Watch Dogs to even care anyway. :)
ps plus is amazing deal for free games you get. ps plus is pretty much reason why i don't trade in my ps3 for a ps4 at this point. I can't wait for watch dogs sadly im out of town until that friday so have to keep my self fromreading anything about it until i get it.

PS+ makes it so I barely buy games on PSN anymore as I am always afraid they will be free the following month. Most people called Puppeteer and pretty much all PSN exclusives pretty sure we will see Second Son free when it hits the greatest hits or is sub 20$

Welp, one of my sticks is starting to peel again, Im not even gonna bother replacing it. Its officially my BF4 only controller now, haha. Speaking of BF4, the "rubber-banding" issue seems to have been resolved. I might have to jump on premium now, its sucks when all your friends are playing the new maps and you cant join them.

I dont remember anyone really saying bad things about Puppeteer? In fact I remember a lot of people liking it.
I started it recently. It's alright. It has TONS of dialogue and cut scenes between levels for a platformers. And there's some stuff people don't like such as button prompts in boss fights and what not.

It's a pretty standard platformer with more flair in the presentation than most I guess I'd say. With checking out if you like platformers. But skip if you don't or are sick of them as it won't convert non-fans.

I'm just saying three games for $60, even without it (which I am sure they will) that's $20 a game, compared to the recent re-releases that is a pretty good deal.

Nearly a one year delay, wonder if they really did have some serious issues, or they simply lied when they said it was coming at launch.
the original game director could not commit the time since his kid got really sick. It all became public due to famousmortimer's (former Neogaf insider) rant about the recent Sony exec turnover. It really blew up on GAF.

System update is out that adds light at dimming and some other stuff. Dimming is a bit disappointing as it's just high, medium and low and not that much difference between them.
Yeah. i was very disappointed with the controller light dimming. I'm still waiting on an update that adds notifications when friends sign on. A basic feature on PS3, 360, and XB1.

I was hoping for custom wallpapers and better organization options for your games/apps :whistle2:(. Sharefactory is awesome though, I created a short BF4 montage and it was not hard at all, it looked really cool with all the transitions.

wonder why on OFF option? No reason for the light if you aint using it for move right?
Some games use it--turns red when health is low etc., and it goes different colors to show whether it's player 1, 2, 3 or 4.

But yeah, I don't get why there's no off option either. Gold I got the decals since I game at night a lot and my tv screen is glossy.

Well yea, like in shadow fall goes from green to red, can tell that on the game screen as well. Its superfluous at best.

Infamous uses it too. Gradual blue colors when on the good path and gradual red colors when on the bad.

My OFF option is a 4" piece of electrical tape. The lights are LED and have a negligible effect. The rumble function is the main culprit for the relatively short battery life.

more annoying is the glare on the tv, like you i doubt they decrease battery life that much.

Are people still seeing the lightbar reflected on their TV even when set to dim? I also noticed that they made the trophy pictures bigger when you click on specific ones, they were so tiny before so Im happy about that.

Dunno, I havent messed with the setting yet, will try it out tonight and report back.

Mine is a good test case, plamsa tv so its glass screen and I sit kinda close to it and its about eye level. Need to get a wall mount just never took the time to mess with that. If it was mounted/up a little higher prolly wouldnt even be an issue regardless.

Thanks, I have custom decals on mine so I cant try it out for myself. I think that was the biggest issue people had with the lightbar.

Anyone else pick up Child of Light?

I tried the demo yesterday and got hooked and bought it. Warning if you do that, exit out of the game after buying the full version, otherwise it won't save or unlock trophies. I had to replay like 3 hours, kind of sucked but I'm loving the game so it wasn't too painful to replay.

I'm having more fun with it than I've had with a game in quite a while. Great graphics, fun battle system. Fairly simple, but still enough strategy involved with the timing meter etc. to keep in interesting.

Remote play on Vita works great as well since it uses few buttons and thus you don't have to mess with using the touch panel or anything.

Testing of the battery life and the new lightbar settings:

http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/05/04/ps4-1-7-dualshock-4-battery-life-increase-by-dimming-the-light-measured-for-all-settings/

  • On “Bright” setting, the controller ran from 8:48 PM to 7:47 AM the morning after, clocking 10 hours and 59 minutes of battery life.
  • On “Medium” setting, the controller started its work at 5:25 PM and ran out of juice at 5:25 AM, for a total battery life of 11 hours and 42 minutes. 50 Minutes longer than the “Bright” setting.
  • On “Dim” Settin it ran from 9:41 AM to 10:02 PM, clocking 12 hours and 21 minutes of battery life. 81 minutes longer than the “Bright” setting.

SHAREFactory was fun.  Put a bunch of Madden clips together, added music, transitions.  They could do more with it, but it was fun....easy to use.

I think my video was better than ESPN highlights ;)

I loved TLOU and would be super stoked for any sequel.

Sure, the first wrapped up nicely. But there are a lot of stories they can tell in that world. Be it Ellie and/or Joel years later, or new characters.

I'm one who loved the gameplay as well as the story/characters so that helps with my interest for a sequel as well.

I'm fine with a The Last of Us 2 as long as it is new characters and new setting. No need to keep focusing on Joel and Ellie. They know how to right compelling characters...so give us new ones. Works perfectly in the world of TLoU.

After looking at the list more closely I would have to agree. No way you can fit all that info in a 90 minutes presser.
Not to mention some of them are ridiculous... UC 4 gameplay? That game is probably being remade from scratch if all the departures are any indication. That game is two years away from release at least...

some are believable, like the Order and GTA V to next gen... but the Last Guardian, TLOU 2 and Uncharted are very unlikely

This seems to be causing an issue for many people. And if true...is kinda shitty:
