PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

Can anyone recommend a good hard drive for a PS4? I would like to switch to an internal 2TB drive (does SSD affect anything?), but don't really know what to look for or if there are any good deals on them coming on BF. Posted this on the BF deals thread, but figured this would be the better place
This one is 2TB. People in the comments said they were able to remove it from the casing and install it in their PS4's easily. Im thinking about picking it up myself. im not aware of any BF deals.

These same drives have been up on Newegg and/or eBay for $79.99 recently, so if you want to save a few bucks, just keep an eye out.

And be sure to test the drive's functionality prior to removing it from the enclosure, because doing so voids the warranty.

Typical Xbot dribble, you never hear PS4 fans saying this crap, I wonder why that is? If the script were flipped and the Xbox was the more powerful console can you imagine how much more unbearable these clowns would be..
not really i paid for a gaming pc for a reason if i ever wanted to play games in high end settings it's the best way to get it

Cool, I'll definitely be on the lookout. I still have a decent amount of space left so Im not in a rush. Thanks for the heads up.

So you answered your own question, there are perks to console gaming that the PC does not offer, and the people who want those perks may also want the best experience available. So it's high time you quit throwing the lame ass "if you care about resolution then get a gaming PC" garbage comment around.

I hate to sound like negative, but what's up with the crap messaging? I Kept trying to send a friend a screenshot and I repeatedly get a "This message cannot be sent" followed by "The connection to the server has been lost".

Yeah i dunno, messaging does that to me too sometimes. Most of the time it works fine for me but a few times i cant send a message for the life of me lol.

This is the exact drive I used. Installed the 2tb in the PS4. Then put the 500gb(original ps4) drive into the enclosure. Now I have the 500gb external hooked up to the Xbox One. Before I upgraded I had about 40gb free so it was definitely time. That was back in August I believe. Now I have about 1.2TB free on my PS4. To give you an idea, I own 20 full retail games(discs) and have all the free PS+ games since launch. I also purchased about 6 or 7 digital games.

Agree about Far Cry, it's very familiar if you've played *and enjoyed* 3. Graphics look great except one part at the beginning the view from the weeds looked quite last-gen, but overall that's been my only gripe so far

For GTAV I've decided to stick with 3rd person view for driving cars. Everything else in FP. Also, the touchpad for swicthing weapons quickly works great. It sucks for FC4 because its too sensitive IMO.

The game is not winning the praise that was expected. Dragon Age Inquisition on the other hand is exceeding expectations.
FC4? I see a lot of people praising the game so far.

I went ahead and completely switched to 1st person just to see how far they took it. Pretty impressed to see that even when jumping from a bike at 100 mph you shoot down the rode and the camera rolls around and around....just fuck awesome. The little details, walls and well just about everything looks great. Oh and the city really feels crowded.

Ugh the Keys to Kyrat experience was so good and now I'm disappointed knowing my brother won't be picking up the game for awhile due to having Dragon Age around.

Damn Ubisoft getting me all revved up like that.

can't you just use shareplay... or does the keys experience only work and shareplay does not?

Sony's commercials have been spot on thanks to their new marketing partner. They've had nothing but great commercials since the launch of the PS4.

(Edit) Although I'm kind of surprised Driveclub didn't get a spot in the commercial. I know it had launch issues, but I've heard it's a pretty great game issues aside.

Damn, my buddy who I sent a key to cant join me. It says "this feature is currently unavailable try again later". We were like fuck it lets play some GTAO and thats borked too now it seems. Frustrating as hell.

My brother had that happen as well. The problem he had was the game wasn't fully downloaded. It's stupid because he thought it was downloaded but once he clicked the options button over the icon and hit "Information" like I saw online it said it wasn't installed.

Have him try that, I think the full game install is like 21GB's and takes a couple of hours.

Alright, I'll tell him to give that a shot, thanks. Oh, and it looks like Rockstar got hit by these LizardSquad fools.

I have Amazon credit to get a couple of games and I have a few in mind so I wanted to get some CAG's advice who might be playing them. I'm thinking about getting GTA 5 V, Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age Inquisition.

I held out buying GTA last gen, haven't watched/read much about the campaign or about online purposesly to not spoil anything. How is the muliplayer? Does it have a decent sized online community on PS4? Also Far Cry 4, how is it's multiplayer? I was hoping for gun vs gun but the new faction seem interesting.

I'm waiting until Black Friday/Cyber Monday to see if they might drop $10 off each of these. Anyway which 2 of the 3 would you get first?

I haven't played the competitive multiplayer component of Far Cry 4 yet, but I'm absolutely in love with the story mode. It's in my top 3 for best games of the year, and it might end up being my GOTY overall.

I hope we see some nice BF sales on the PSN. I have some credit to burn.

If you've never played GTA then you're in for a treat, looks beautiful on the PS4 and the new first person mode is a great addition to the series. The MP is very fun especially with a couple of friends. Although, It has been kinda buggy for me with connection issues.

I havent played the competitive MP in FC4 yet but the coop is really great. You can liberate outposts and hunt together. The SP is a blast too, its very similar to FC3. I dont have DA yet but I've heard nothing but great things about it. You really cant go wrong with whatever you choose.

Thanks for the info!

Yeah I tried not to spoil GTA for myself, I don't know the story or anything just seen review scores(no details) & the characters in commercials. I figured it would've released even earlier on next-gen that's why I waited and with the added extras it seems the longer wait was well worth it, I was just hoping everyone hadn't played it last gen and the online was dead now.

I loved FC3's sp, online not so much but I was a big FC: Instincts/Predator mp/map editor fan. I may get GTA and Far Cry 4 now and wait on Dragon Age for a month.

I've griped about wanting more games to play then 3 I want release the same week! :)

I've picked up all 3 of the games you listed. Here are my impressions:

1. Dragon Age Inquisition- Haven't started it yet so I will not comment yet.

2. Far Cry 4- Looks great, controls are responsive and fluid, and is just a ton of fun. If you tried 3, you'll easily get into 4. *Plus, not sure if I'm remembering correctly or not, but the world seems to be much bigger and has a lot more side treasures to hunt*

3. GTA- Graphics are vastly better than the previous generation! Gameplay remains fun, and if you enjoy cruising the city there's a ton more songs on the radio stations.

In summation, I'd say that any combination of the 3 will make you a happy dude!

Those Shangri La missions in FC4 are so dope, if they dont make a follow up to Blood Dragon or something similar using FC4 engine, im gonna be one sad panda.

Ugh my life is getting consumed by Far Cry 4. It's just that good.

I ended up buying a White Dualshock 4 controller from Best Buy's early sale since I'll probably get Little Big Planet 3 down the road and it'll be nice to have extra controllers around.

New Arkham Knight gameplay trailer...

Dont know if you have Towerfall, but thats another great couch coop game that I recommend. It will definitely put that extra controller to good use, it did for me lol

My dad was asking me about that game and was all pumped up to play it. He saw a commercial somewhere and started asking questions right away.
