PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

Do you think there's gonna be a Uncharted 1-3 remaster? I just ordered a ps3 and all the uncharted game but, i've beaten all of them but 1 and would rather just wait if there is gonna be a remake.
My money is on there being one. Naughty Dog would be stupid not to try and release one with how TLOUR did on PS4 and trying to build the hype even more over UC4

I'll wait then. I'm falling way behind on games. I have around 5-6 games on my shelf that i haven't gotten more than 60 minutes into because all i want to do is play fifa at night. I do have a week vacation at the end of next month though so i might burn through them.

I doubt we'll see an Uncharted Remastered Collection for quite awhile. If they were working on one they would have announced it by now and it would have been set up to come out before Uncharted 4 does. The fact we haven't heard anything yet and Uncharted 4 is supposed to come out this year makes me doubt we'll see a collection.

They will announce something at E3, have it release in the 3rd quarter, UC4 will come either 4th quarter, or even first quarter next year.

For anyone here that has installed that drive into their PS4, has your system started to emit random beeps ? Mine has ever since installing the new drive. Had been researching information online and found some other mentions of the problems on a few other sites. Most seem to assume its due to the extra power requirements of the larger drive.

Just wondering if this happened to anyone else and if they found any solutions.
yep mine seems to do that occasionally. Definitely not normal read and writing of a harddrive

Also Uncharted 1 & 2 are both on PSNow. If you wanted to play them, you could just subscribe for a month.

What time is the PS Event in NY tomorrow? Wonder what kind of news we will get.

So I picked up a PS4 last night and had a question maybe somebody can answer for me. I hooked up my Generation 1 Astro A50 headset to it and I noticed that the sound would only come out of the headset not the tv. Am I going to have to go mess with the settings everytime I want to listen to sound through the tv? With my Xbox One the sound would come out of the tv and headset.

Master Chief Collection wasn't officially announced till E3 last year and came out that holiday.
But there wasn't another Halo game already coming out in the same year. I don't know, I just think that it could give some people fatigue if they release three Remasters and then not even a couple months later release the newer game. I think they might just release the games on PS Now and use that as a substitute for awhile. Maybe sometime next year announce/release a collection after Uncharted 4 has had some shelf live.

I love Uncharted myself, but some people who might have bought Uncharted 4 may just get the Remastered Collection and hold off on UC4 for awhile or the Multiplayer crowd might just play the older games and skip out on UC4 for awhile.

Chat only in the options, not full.

Not gonna try and stream videogames especially on mediocre internet
You might be surprised. My internet is garbage and ps now worked really well when I had the trial. It might be worth the 7 day trial, if it's still available.

Under settings there should be an option for audio from both HDMI and optical.

Questions:

1. I'll have 25Mbps down and 2Mbps upload speed soon, is this good enough to stream PS4 games? (I live in a rural area so it's the highest speed here.) I'd imagine it's not recommended but I'm trying to figure what quality it might show on stream, and if it stutters.

2. Also do you need anything other than a PS4 account and YouTube/Twitch account?
Are you wifi or plugged in?

My PS4 has hard locked on me twice in 2 days (Once playing Binding of Isaac & once w/ Saints Row 4).  Getting a bit worried but hopefully it'll be fine today.

I don't know about Binding Of Isaac but with Saints Row 4 hard freezing is a known issue. It's happened to me about 4 or 5 times already.

Had a hard freeze a few days ago with AC: Unity, lost my internet while on a single-player campaign mission, and right when I was about to complete it. Ubisoft's always-on connection strikes again.

My controller is broken. I've tried resetting it with that little button on the back a few times. The whole thing frequently becomes wholly unresponsive. Buttons, sticks, d-pad all stop working every few minutes.

I know Sony does repair/replacement for worn out rubber on analog sticks, but would they actually fix my broken controller? Sadly, I have no need for a second PS4 controller, so I'd be unable to play during the potential repair.

It depends on what the issue winds up being and how long you've had said controller.

It's worth a shot I suppose but if I were you I'd just buy a new one.

It's the controller that came with my launch day PS4. There's no reason I should have to buy a new controller after barely 1 year. I keep my stuff in great condition.

I get what you're saying but most things fall out of warranty after 1 year.

You can always ask them and see what they say but I think they'll probably charge you for it unless they can effectively chalk it up to some kind of hardware malfunction that they're aware of. I myself am not aware of any widespread issues that sound like what's happening with you, though they could be out there.

Not that i'd recommend it but maybe take a knife and make it look like the plastic has worn out and just tell them that's the problem?

The Order looks like borderline garbage to me, I've thought this ever since I saw the first gameplay videos at E3 last year.  Now it has apparently been confirmed that it's 5 hours long with almost 1/2 of that being unskippable cutscenes.  The hype is far too great for it to live up too, it is suffering from the early system exclusive overhype train, similar to what happened to Haze on PS3.

I hope I'm wrong and it turns out great and the people who have been so hyped for it are happy with their purchase but to me this whole thing smells from a mile away.

I'm not over hyped right now for it, and I feel most people are taming their expectations. Game had a bad start but supposedly the last three times it was shown the game was a lot better. The key right now is games are slow so I can enjoy a game like the order.

The 5 hour run was a speed run with almost no deaths. The platinum takes roughly 9-15 hours depending on how good you are. I think that's fine to me. I'm not good enough to speed run.

The length isn't even the biggest issue for me its the actual gameplay I don't find very interesting.  Too many QTE's and cutscenes for a game of that length for me personally.

I have mixed feelings on The Order also. But with Reward Points & GCU, I only paid $7.48 for my preorder. I still have way too many games to play though.

I am hoping The Order lives up to the hype. The graphics look great and from the little reviews that are out the story is pretty good. The short gameplay length isn't horrible to me if its good. I beat the story in Infamous Second Son in about 10 hours and I loved it. My Best Buy reward points don't post until the end of the month so I'll get to read all the reviews give me time to decide if im getting it now or waiting for a price drop.

On a serious note, it's not going to be a bad game.  Already stated my comments, so I'm not going to keep beating a dead horse.

So what's the point in psnow?  Even me the guy who pretty much only played halo the entire xbox/ps2 era somehow managed to have a ps2 in my closet.   And ps3s are nearing the $100 price point.  Heck I grabbed one for $75 the other day after tax and shipping.  I just don't see the point in a subscription service when the hardware is so cheap now.  I bought all 3 uncharted games for $10 or less each on ebay.   Doesn't make sense to spend $20 a month to play the occassional game you're nostalgic about

Crazy how all these AAA releases are so hyped up yet they don't deliver when they come out. Yet games like shadow of mordor and dying light go under the radar yet turn out to be pretty good games.

It's all a matter of convenience.

Most people either sell/trade their old consoles or don't like to have everything out and cluttered up in one spot. Some also can't afford dropping $100+ in one go so they'd rather spend $20 a month... People are also lazy and that's where services like PSNow come in. It's not for people like us.

$20 a month adds up to $100 pretty quickly. I'm lazy too but not lazy enough that I can't attach an hdmi and power cable to a ps3.

I know that, and you know that, but it's the same thing as people making monthly payments on an iPhone adding up to $300+ instead of paying the $199 up front.

For whatever reason people are more okay with smaller numbers even if they do eventually add up to costing much more.

I just dont like having a shit ton of systems hooked up. Not going to use PSNow, but rather use that then potentially hooking up additional systems and clogging up any space I have.

It's also worth noting the value of PS Now will increase when they spread out to more devices (Like Mobile) and it'll have even more appeal to people who don't own traditional game consoles, but want to start playing those kind of games again (On their phone/tablet).

who are these mythological beings?

um, have you guys seen rental prices on games currently?  I mean I know renting is dumb, but there are still people who do it.  Redbox is ridiculous now at $3 per day, gamefly is $20 a month and you have to wait for games to ship to you... $20 a month for as many of the what? $300 plus games?

On the outside to CAGS like us it doesn't make sense.  But to say I can pay $20 a month and get games on my TV or tablet?  sounds decent enough.

My local redboxes are lucky if they even have any games so the point is kinda mute. I guess with gamers club unlocked and bb trade in values I could practially rent games for free but, i've pretty much decided to build up a collection this gen.

Soooo much negativity surrounding The Order, damn. Im still excited to play it day one but Im guessing we'll see a lot of lukewarm reviews come Thursday when the embargo lifts. I hope Im wrong.

The free Dynamic Theme from The Order 1886 is awesome. It's one of the better looking themes I've seen and the music is incredible.
Eh, its okay. I still prefer the 20th anniversary one. Speaking of themes, the ones up on the store are fuckin awful and I cant believe Sony is asking us to pay for them, you cant even preview what the hell you're buying. I wish they would hurry up and let us use custom ones already. Also, I'm not feelin the new CAG layout.
