PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

Theres likely other things im forgetting. A few other indie games as well.

Nothing as big I guess as Halo 5 or Tomb Raider but hell nothing is to say that one or both of those could also get pushed back

 
If they were to do a UC Collection, that would probably be a pretty tall task given how they would be looking to upgrade all three games. It was probably stressful enough on them to just do the TLoU remaster alone. Doing three games that were even farther out from the PS3 current lifecycle just seems like it would require a good amount of resources from Naughty Dog. Besides, the Druck shot down the collection rumor not too long ago.

I think if they were to ever release one, it'd be more due to them freeing up the resources for it and not so much as to fill in the delay until UC4. It would be a smart money grab, I'd bet a UC collection would sell tremendously well. A lot of people would be exposed to the Uncharted trilogy for the very first time. Although personally, I never advocate playing a series of games back to back. It just burns you out on the gameplay all the more quickly.

Naughty Dog wouldnt have to do the remaster. Most remasters are done by other teams since the game is already made they just have to update it.

That's what I was going to point out. They don't have to do it for it to become reality, it's probably moreso up to Sony anyway.

Possibly, it'd be easier for them to do that now what with the touchpad on the DS4 and all... Similar to what they're doing with Tearaway.
 
So I wonder, now that the 2.5 update has offically been announced, when the release date will be. By the end of the month? Recently I've been playing GTA a lot and it'd be really nice to not sit through the long load times to start playing.

My guess would be at the end of the month. Suspend resume is the only thing I'm excited for and Im actually a little disappointed with this update, and god I hope you have the ability to turn off that trophy screenshot feature. That will get annoying quick for me. Still not having online friend notifications or pins/organization options is bumming me out, these are basic ass features but Sony is taking their sweet time adding them because reasons.

It was posted on Japans PS Blog where they were talking about the new FW features. Im not feelin the new placement at all, not sure why they would move it.

 
That new store placement is terrible.

Although they claim you can pause downloads now. Only took over a fuck ing year to get core functionality that should of been there on launch. For people with backwoods DSL like me, this is a godsend.

I'm pretty sure that has been there for awhile now. At least since the 2.0 update.
 
I doubt it, and its not the end of the world but its just dumb to put it there. Its more faster/easier to get to now and Its not like we need more shit added to the list of horizontal titles on the main tab. But whatever...

In other news Titanfall 2 has been confirmed as multiplatform. Hopefully they add a real single player campaign and a more beefed up MP experience this time.

I think we all saw Titanfall 2 being a multi-platform release from a mile away. I am also hoping for more unlocks in MP and a single player campaign this time around. The original Titanfall is a lot of fun and one of the better shooters on the market IMO, I have had a lot more fun with Titanfall than I have Battlefield 4 and CoD.

IDK, I enjoyed TF on my 360 for a bit but it got stale really quick for me. It was just too barebones to keep me interested (hello Evolve lol). I do think the gameplay was top notch though so they have a good foundation to build on. They just need to add more content and keep it next gen only this time.

In the interview they announced it for PS4, the founder also said he wanted to expand and knows they didn't have enough content.

 
I was expecting a legit SP campaign no matter how corny it is(MechAssault), but it's one of the better new FPS IPs this gen.  The lack of content didn't really matter much in my case.

Maybe it was bad at launch, but the stuff in the game now is well worth a $60 title, so I'm sure Titanfall 2 won't disappoint.

 
I didn't see any scenario where a titanfall sequel didn't come to the PS4. I still think at some point we'll get some sort of Dead Rising as well.

With Titanfall I can see them them putting in early buyer "classic maps (i.e. maps from the first game)" as launch DLC included in vanilla first run LE copies of the game.

Won't buy it though if it doesn't have an offline campaign. I certainly wouldn't buy the first now unless you can get it for $10 or less, even with the free DLC as who knows how long they'll keep the servers up after the second game is released. Maybe they'll do a aggressive trade-in promotion for the first game towards purchase/preorder of the second so people don't end up with coasters 2-3 years from now.

Wasn't the Season Pass and all DLC free yesterday? I picked up the game awhile ago to check it out, even though I'm not really into multiplayer. I haven't even touched it yet. Like most of the Xbox One games I have, I'd rather be playing the PS4.

About the Uncharted delay, I'm actually ok with it. I'd rather the game get made right instead of rushed. Also with titles like The Witcher, Batman, MGS5, Mad Max, and Just Cause 3 all releasing this year, I'm sure I'll have plenty to play. There's still a bunch of games Sony announced that we still haven't heard anything about release yet. Like Rime, No Mans Sky, Wild, Everyone Gone to Rapture, The Forest, and more.

Hopefully we hear about a lot of those at E3

Thats nice and all but this will be the second straight year without a big holiday exclusive game. MS has TR, Forza, and Halo 5 coming out in that period. That will be tough to compete with especially now with the UC delay.

Was just thinking I wouldn't be shocked to see Sunset Overdrive on PS4 sometime down the line, just because it's Insomniac. DR4 will most likely be multiplat as well.

Yeah, already owned it on XB1 and DLed the 360 versions just for the hell of it.

Need to find a cheap copy now, great pick up and play shooter.

Most of the games he listed at the end are exclusives, and I consider No man's Sky a pretty big exclusive.

Not to mention Until Dawn.

They could announce something big at E3 and they still have Ratchet and Clank, No Man's Sky and Until Dawn coming out. We may end up seeing an Uncharted Collection now that UC4 is no longer coming out this year and that would be a pretty big title.

I'm a bit surprised at how much hype No Man's Sky has. A lot of my friends who play games much more casually than I do know all about it and are extremely excited... I think we're getting pretty close to the point where the lines are much more blurred between AAA & Indie as far as hype and expectations are concerned. I bet NMS is going to sell a ton of copies(licenses?), too.

 
I dont really care anymore, I mean we all know who will take the win. Unless Microsoft has some kind of firesale where they add like 4 games and GC's Sony pretty much has it in the bag every month. Its boring.

Until dawn and R&C are releasing in the summer months last time I checked. Sony NEEDS a big holiday exclusive blockbuster.

I don't really care where the store icon is, but you gotta admit it makes sense for Sony to have that as the first thing you see when booting up.
 
Considering how well ps4 has sold over all and back to being number 1 two months in a row after the holiday saying they "NEED" a blockbuster exclusive for holiday 2015 seems a little wrong. At this point mircosoft needs it more than sony does.
 
why does everyone suddenly think an uncharted collection is coming out now just because UC4 has been delayed? its like people think they are just going to quick whip up a remastered collection in a year cuz of the delay. if theres an uncharted collection in the works, its been long in development before they knew UC4 was gonna get delayed.

Suspend/Resume in action. In the GTA vid he said he had netflix running as well and its the disk version so the bootup time was longer. SR vid was with no apps running and was digital. It looks awesome and I can definitely see myself using this a lot when it comes out.

I'm pretty excited about that. I know in some games there really isn't a save feature available and if I have to leave suddenly then it's nice to have this feature. I can't wait!

Edit" Let me rephase. The story isn't the full story. They are investigating and when they are done investigating they will go from there. If they find he was hacked, they will refund him the money and fix everything.

Would Persona 5 count? I think with Persona 4 Golden doing as well as it did and receiving such high praise, it could do well. Especially since people want some RPG gaming on their new systems. And I feel FFXV wont hit till next year.

I think before uncharted was delayed they were going to release it. It is well known that a second team at naughty dog is working on a game that isn't The Last of Us 2, hmmmm I wonder what it is. We are all just saying a remaster could help the absence of a big title by being that big title.

Three amazing games for one price?

I'd be pretty happy if the second team at Naughty Dog was working on a new IP actually. I've played Uncharted 1-3, and they're available on PSNow(for ps4 owners) or on ps3, if I ever feel like replaying them. If an Uncharted Remastered Collection was ever put out, I would totally purchase it though. It's one of my favorite games.

Btw Jason Voorhees confirmed for Mortal Kombat X, he is in the Kombat Pass. I hate that it's basically paid DLC.
