PlayStation 4 - General Discussion Thread

I think before uncharted was delayed they were going to release it. It is well known that a second team at naughty dog is working on a game that isn't The Last of Us 2, hmmmm I wonder what it is. We are all just saying a remaster could help the absence of a big title by being that big title.

Three amazing games for one price?
so what team did the last of us remaster? team 2? i just dont see them working on it when they could be making jak 4 or a new IP

Would Persona 5 count? I think with Persona 4 Golden doing as well as it did and receiving such high praise, it could do well. Especially since people want some RPG gaming on their new systems. And I feel FFXV wont hit till next year.
Hmm, I dont know those types of games arent really popular in the west and are considered niche titles.

I think the Persona series has risen above niche status, but Persona 5 will truly put that to the test.
I think that's possible. People point towards vgcharts, but I don't think they track digital sales. Every few months the Persona games go on sale on PSN, and if you only have a PS3 Slim or Super Slim you have to buy them digitally. I don't think Persona 5 will sell like a triple A title, but I think the series might have been growing in popularity without much notice.

I first played Persona 4 (Golden) last October, and what got me interested in the series was buying Persona 4 Arena a year ago when it was on sale for $10 in the Xbox 360 marketplace. I never even heard of the Persona series before Arena.

I'd never heard of the Persona series before Persona 4 Golden. Only reason I found out about it was I wanted to find out the best-reviewed game on the system and decided to give it a look. I've never regretted that decision, it's still my favorite game on the vita! Can't believe they went an entire generation without a new game in the series! *Don't really consider Arena a game in the series, it's just a fighter that serves no other purpose than to get the Persona 4 cast in a new game*

You seriously don't like uncharted?
Well Drake's Fortune wasn't anything special. Both Among Thieves and Drake's Deception are great games, even if the latter was more of the same. I'm in for the story of Uncharted than the actual gameplay itself.

Only played Up Your Arsenal, can't really say.

does RBK even have a ps3?
It's been discussed here at some point the last time we had a TR/Uncharted debate. Check RedBLOODEDKing if you need any confirmation. I did, but sold it after beating TLOU.

You're taking it too literal. If I had the decision of having another Jak game over UC4, I'm choosing Jak all day.
But why? Nostalgia?

I love Crash & Uncharted, and had never played any of the Jak games, despite my wife always raving about them. I excitedly picked up the Trilogy when it hit PS3 only to eventually become severely disappointed. Boring level design, a lifeless main character with an annoying secondary one, borderline broken controls/missions, flat humor, and (at times)infuriating difficulty spikes.

It's not that I don't think people aren't allowed to like them, my opinion certainly isn't the golden standard, but without nostalgia goggles I was forced to see them as nothing but decent games. Unless they were just terrible ports, it's the worst of Sony's PS2 platformer series. Despite what Turk says, Ratchet & Sly are far better games IMO.

Didn't really have a problem with any of those issues Mixer.  Jak is kind of soulless, but I find Daxter as one of the most charismatic characters I've ever came across in gaming.  Maybe it is nostalgia as I was like 10 when Jak II released, but his jokes and one-liners were pretty clever.

Up Your Arsenal was good but it's really not much different from J&D, almost like the Crash/Spyro comparisons.  Spent too much time trophy hunting in the Sly Collection to even progress through it.  Returned it for some other game at the time, just don't remember which.

I never said word one about Sly, I happened to enjoy them greatly. I have all 4 of them on my vita. Only game I mentioned was R&C which, in MY opinion, sucked.

I didn't play any of them growing up(Ratchet, Sly, Jak), but the recent Ratchet games are much better than the originals and the Sly games still hold up... Jak not so much. I will say I was actually able to finish Jak 1. Jak 2 & 3 I tried for a few hours each and just couldn't make myself continue.

It's all relative anyway, Jak is just a bit of a sore spot for me since I really wanted to like them a lot, only to wind up hating them. A fourth one could fix things and be a good game I suppose, but I honestly feel like that would be a step backwards for ND. In a perfect world, their second team would be working on a new IP, and Sony would outsource any possible Uncharted Collection.

jak 1 was a good game. jak 2 is when it started to go downhill with the gunplay and driving and never bothered with 3. that said, ND has learned quite a bit in the last decade and they could probably make a pretty damn good jak 4 game as a pure platformer. they even stated they had discussions about possibly doing jak 4 before starting to develop TLOU.

Just got a PS4. Having a problem with second controller. When second controller is turned on it ask to sign in as guest or another user. If I choose guest I can't access LBP3 servers or PSN. I don't have a second account and it won't let me assign my account to the controller. On PS3 you just turn on the controller and play. Please help, what's up with this. My family and I want to play online.

I have the same problem when I choose guest, I dont know why or how to fix this. When I chose my second account everything works fine. I would just make a second account if I were you.

CAG,

I want to take advantage of the 175$ trade in credit for a ps3 towards a ps4 deal. I'd like to update the hard drive.

Can I remove the hard drive from this enclosure

And use it on the ps4?

Thanks for any help.
Yes you can. I think a CAG posted a guide on how to do this somewhere back in this thread. You can even put it back together with the PS4 500gb drive and use it as a portable 500gb drive.

yep 100% and pretty easy with patience. Can be annoying becasue of adhesive on top pf drive so you might bend top cover. But its aluminum so it can bend back

Like the others said it's possible. I did it back in August. It's super easy and it works really well. I'd recommend doing this to a fresh PS4 , rather then one you already have. Redownloading and installing everything took awhile and was a pain in the ass. Also if you goto the official Playstation site, you can download the firmware and there's a guide for the install. On the site there will be two files, make sure you use the larger file. The other file is just for upgrading the firmware.

Why is it that Blu Ray movies sound so low when I play them on my ps3? The voices in the movies always sound very low. I have to bump my TV volume to level 80 to hear them talk normally. That's got to be bad for my speakers right? I'm afraid I'm going to blow out my TV speakers soon.

Actually I have noticed that with almost every Blu-ray I have heard ever, no matter what kind of player it is. To me the background noises are way too loud and voices are so low... In fact in my surround setup, I have the center speaker turned higher because it plays the voices and it's fine, but without the surround, I can barely hear

Anyone have the western digital wd10s12x sshd installed? I am in the market for a new hd for the ps4. I like the idea of the seagatd 1 tb sshd. Seems to get good reviews. The drive I am looking at is a sshd from wd. It is a 1 tb sshd. The difference is it has 16gb nand vs 8gb on the seagate. Would seem like a slam dunk. I saw a question on Amazon stating it works in a ps4. It is listed on eBay as ps4 compatible. I have also seen posts on how it is not. Some of which are old and I wonder if they are on an old fw. One used reported issues coming out of rest mode.

Just curious of anyone had any experiences?

I think you'd be better off just getting 2tb for $15 more or so. If you have ps+ i doubt even 1tb is enough without micromanaging

I do have plus. The 2 tb is also in consideration. Justc trying to see how it stacks up vs the seagate sshd. I like the speed boosts of the sshd. I figured 16 gb of nand it should go even quicker.

http://www.ign.com/wikis/playstation-4/PlayStation_4_Hard_Drive_Speed_Test_Comparison you're saving a few seconds here and there. Personally I don't think that's worth getting half the storage space. If it was a pc with a second hard drive bay for additional storage I'd be singing a different tune.
Read that. I do hear what your saying and I agree. But I am curios if doubling the nand would double the few seconds. 1 tb is fine for me. I don't need every game on the hd. I have staples and the long term and the revolving. Knowing myself and the way I manage my data I'm not worried.

Just curious. I guess I could buy from the guy on eBay and return it if it doesn't work on ps4 like he states.

According to the amazon question section it works.  Not many reviews though for it.   I can't even seem to find it on newegg which is really rare.  It must have just come out?  Not sure how much of a difference it will make but try it and let us know.  It's like $3 more then the 7200 competition.

I think remastered games collection are great. If you don't like it, just don't buy it. Nothing wrong with that. These remastered games is not meant for everybody.
