Definitely think it'll go down to $30 by end of summer, maybe $19.99 for Black Friday/holiday 2019 if they're still being produced... Personally want one but in absolutely no rush to get one until around that price

I don't think the problem is them still being produced, but getting rid of the hundreds/thousands that are sitting on store shelves or in warehouses. Theyll eventually be clearanced at $20 for sure and then discontinued.

Walmart has them again for the same price, so I bought one for local in-store pickup. I enjoy messing around with devices like these for emu purposes, so I'll get a great sense of accomplishment from doing that.

I cancelled my pre-order waiting for someone to hack it and get the process down to something simple. I picked it up at $39.99.
I love my PS Classic now that I installed AutoBleem. $39.99 is definitely worth it for me after I found out how easy it is.
Now I have all of my favorite games in tiny portable package that I can tote on vacations.
In fact, if it goes down to $20 like some of you have predicted, I may buy another one!
Also - Think of it this way. Another emulation solution is the Raspberry Pi which goes for $35 for just the bare board. This comes with TWO decent controllers and a cool case that looks like a mini-Playstation.

Will wait for $20. If it sells out before then, that's fine. I can already emulate on my desktop and use my DS4 to play games wirelessly on it, so my sole reason for interest is purely the novelty.

I would say $15 is possible. They aren't moving at all even at $40. My store still has 140 and every store in the area has at least 50 with some as high as 170.

You can't beat how easy it is to just pop in a USB dongle and play games.
PLUS it comes with 2 ps1 controllers.
if they were both dual shocks it'd be perfect but it does the job well for pc emulators.
I put games i otherwise wouldn't play or forgotten about like the Capcom VS games with only 1 vs 1 battles.

$40 is a pretty good deal if you want to play more than just what comes on the console. I'm using mine as a PS1 Shmups machine. Heck, many PS1 shmup discs go for $80+. Being able to load a thumb drive with every PS1 shmup and easily play them on a modern TV is pretty cool, and a cheap, easy option to play these great games. Will grab a couple more as backups when the price drops to $30.

I picked up the PlayStation Classic that I ordered from Walmart today, and so far, I like it. It's smaller than one of the controllers that it came with, and the whole thing about it not coming with a power plug is overblown in my opinion. A USB cord is included in the box, so I used a USB plug from an old cell phone charger that I already had. Easy peasy.
That said, I've been watching YouTube tutorials to figure out how to jazz it up. Obviously, I won't go into detail about that. But, other than figuring out how to format a USB drive to FAT32, it hasn't been that bad. I'll be completely honest and say that I haven't bothered playing the 20 games that are already pre-loaded because of the whole PAL versions vs. NTSC versions debate, but I would say that Mr. Driller and Revelations: Persona are the only games on it that I would actually care about. Neither of those requires a lot of speed, but I can see why people would be upset about playing a game like Ridge Racer Type 4 at a slower speed. And, it would be nice if the controllers were wireless and had the analog sticks on them, but it really isn't a bad little device. It does what it's supposed to do. So, for $40, I don't feel like I got ripped off.
If I just needed a small system to plug in and play some old games if I was going on vacation or a weekend trip, it would do the trick. There are people who will buy this thing to put it on a shelf with their other PlayStation crap, there are people who will buy it to marvel at how cool it is to have a little box that will let them play some old games without much effort, and there are people who like doing techie stuff with a device like this who will be excited when they finally succeed. And, no one else will care.

Seems odd to compare a ~$400 hypothetical console that would require ownship of a disc vs a $40 emulation machine.
Yeah, many of the arguments for better options have melted away as the price has gone down. If you are willing to do some mod work this is a great option, two controllers, a slick case, cables ... it costs quite a bit more for Raspberry Pi options to get a decent controller (or two since the Classic has two), cables and a quality case. When I've made Pis for friends the cost is somewhere in the range of $100 with one decent SNES style controller. I'm actually getting close to wanting to pick one up to load with the PSX games I enjoy (which almost none are on it to start with).

yeah first it was the price, the games, the emulation, etc, the goalpost will be moved again if this hits $20, cause most of the time the detractors never had any intention of buying something no matter what
