Dollar General this week. Buy two $25 PSN cards, save $8. That's 16% off. I did several transactions of two cards each to stock up as this will likely be the best deal for a while.
You don't have to break them up, you can do as many as you want in one transaction, I did 4 in one transaction and it took $4 off each card.

Libraries are also a social service paid by tax dollars, which doesn't sound like something you'd particularly love (eek socialism!).
Where in the hell did you get that from his post??????? Not everyone who criticizes Gavin fucking Newsom thinks libraries are some sort of soviet conspiracy, Jesus H. Christ. His post literally indicates that he likes libraries. Don't be an asshat.

Also, yay for libraries, and fuck Gavin Newsom.

Worth adding that nothing at all about the original post was ragging on California. Wonderful state, one of the most beautiful places on earth. Horrible political leadership though, a problem recognized most of all by people who love the state. And a place of the most profound, soul-crushing economically inequality I've ever witnessed in my life, having travelled six continents. Perhaps the pre-eminent example of the neoliberal nightmare in the history of human civilization

Again, can we stop with the political ranting and raving?

We can do better than to devolve into squabbling about things like this.

In my experience, those that talk bad about California have either never been here or are just angry with how expensive it is so it's a defense mechanism. I know very very little about politics but you can play PlayStation games no problem here😁

Oh and I'm not really sure what you mean by we don't get taken care of here. Regarding stimulus payments, I get them direct deposit like two days after they announce they are going out. Anytime I've been on Unemployment, the money is in my account within like 2-3 days.

Just wanted to say as an FYI, as someone from CA, they absolutely don't try to take care of folks in CA. It's actually quite the opposite.
Might just be my perspective, because things are rather grim where I am--and heck, even here, they try a little, if they have to! I guess it's still the same deal there then.

Sorry. I was enjoying their responses, though, and found them informative, except the guy who called me an asshat. Didn't mean for it to be squabbly. I think we're all actually even on the same page really, even if it looks like we're squabbling. So, uh... ranting maybe, but not squabbling :) technically

Can definitely understand that. And from my perspective, I always think it would be rad to live in California, except I can't afford it! I complain about cost of living where I am too, but it's not as bad as california by any stretch...

To be fair, most of us who live in California can’t afford it, either…just sitting over here living paycheck to credit card to paycheck…in the same state where you can make six figures and still qualify for financial aid.

Seems like pretty much everywhere, people end up getting screwed to one degree or another for their last dime, worse and worse all the time--sure is stark there, though, like someone else said, the wealth gap is ludicrous... Suppose NYC is similar in some respects

Thoughts on terminator resistance for ps5? Is it a good version of a bad game or actually good?
It’s an okay version of an okay game. Improvements are petty minimal TBH (slightly better graphics and lighting) but it does run more smoothly and is less buggy as a whole.

Still a low budget Terminator game that won’t win any awards. That said if you’re a fan of the films, it’s worth playing and enjoyable enough IMO.

I platinumed the PS4 version. Picked it up for $15 I think digitally. Worth every penny at that price. I started replaying it on PS5 with the free upgrade and it seems pretty much the same albeit the added Terminator missions. Def don’t pay full price for it but it is a fun game. Plus you can bang a few chicks within the story for comedy relief lol

What do you mean by can't afford it? This seems to be a subjective term. To me, if you can't afford something, you don't have it. If you couldn't afford to live in a certain place, you wouldn't live there. So if you can't afford to live where you do, how do you still live there? My expenses come to like $1100 a month. I make more than that a month so I can afford to live in California. Do you mean that you will never be able to own a house where you live? I pay $950 a month for a 400sq ft studio. Now that could get me a 3 bedroom apartment in many other states so I can see someone saying they can't afford that if they want to live in a 2 or 3 bedroom place etc but they could technically live where I do but their place would just be smaller. Again, can't afford it seems to be used wrong or people don't understand it's subjective.

I left California in 2008 because I couldn't afford to live on my own on what I made working 30 hours a week.

Like, the choices were roommates or live with my parents in perpetuity.

Neither was appealing, so I moved to the Midwest. I miss being able to go to Dodger games on a whim, yes, but my standard of living is higher now than it would have been at any time in the last 13 years in CA.

For me, California has mostly been: that place with wannabe Disney World that I stopover in occasionally when I fly to or from Asia.

Which is what Europe is for me, too, come to think of it.

I was mostly being facetious, but the fact is the cost of living in California (particularly the Los Angeles area and surrounding suburbs/communities) is quite high, and that’s before factoring in the rising costs of food, goods and services. Inflation goes up every year while wages remain relatively stable, and there’s this idea that one must always be busy and on the run to the next “thing” to do, robbing Peter to pay Paul and keeping up an image that is largely fake and useless. I try to stay away from all that, and my income is (just barely) higher than my expenses, but I’ve been quite fortunate and blessed in many ways that others in a similar situation have not. I will say this: I bought my home in September of 2018 for what I thought was a semi-fair price, as it was under asking but well within market value. Not even three years later, and with minimal alterations/upgrades to the property, it has increased in value by over $150,000. That is utter insanity to me, and terrifies me to think that when my daughters are old enough to eventually buy something, they’ll need to be multi-millionaires. I can’t speak for anyone else, and maybe it’s just my interpretation of things, but that’s how I see it.

I haven't been to either one but that is on the bucket list.
Since we're all going off topic here.....

I lived in Georgia a few years ago and my wife and I were considering taking our two kids to Disney/Universal Studios for about an 8 to 10 day trip. We calculated all of the costs for the passes/food/hotels and such. Then we built out a trip to Hawaii, 4 days in Honolulu, 5 on the big island. The trip to Hawaii ended up being about 10% more.

Ended up going to Hawaii and kids still talk about that trip 4 years later. I love amusement parks, but so glad that we looked at a much more "exotic" trip instead.

I am in Colorado and I already know there is no way my kids will be able to buy a house in my hometown at the rate things are going. 4 bed 2 bath ~2000 square feet in an average neighborhood is pushing $1 million.

There's a rumor that Square Enix will announce another Final Fantasy game for the PS5 at E3.
Outside of XVI? Interesting...

On another note, does anyone recommend Final Fantasy Type-0 HD at this point? I've debated picking that game up for years, but seeing as it's on sale again I figured I would ask.

Type-0 HD was...strange for me. I had an OK time going for the platinum and thought the story and characters ranged from annoying to tolerable.

Until I got to the very end. Without going into spoiler territory, the last 10-15 minutes of the game made me abruptly care about the main characters I'd been playing as the whole game. I remember being frustrated that it took until the ending for the writing to get to that level, but I don't think I hated the experience overall.

About 200,000 people move out of California per year. That's the equivalent of losing the entire population of a decent-sized town every year. And they all seem to move here to Colorado, driving up rent and home prices, and then continue voting for the exact same kind of scumbag politicians that caused them to flee their old state like refugees. I guess I am just tired of seeing hybrids with California plates drive by every minute here. They don't even bother getting new plates when they move here lol. Sorry for derailing the thread, I wasn't going to say anything else, just irked by this comment in particular. I have no desire to revisit California and don't care about how expensive it is, but just want you all to stop migrating here in mass numbers if California is so wonderful. Also, it would be nice if your state's massive inept government bureaucracies filled with unqualified cronies could get a handle on those wildfires that keep ruining our air quality over here every summer, that would just be wonderful, thanks.

I enjoyed the game and got very far. It's been a while, but I never finished it. Not really spoilers but there is a end or near end set of missions than requires you to send in teams out of your 13 or so characters. Well, I had my favorites and so my teams were not set up to handle these missions the right way. Like, for example, you can only attack this mission with strong magic guys (or some other skill) and I didn't make the guys with those skills strong enough. I would have to reload an old save prior to the point of no return and grind the necessary guys.

I mostly liked the game even though I'm more of a turn based FF fan. If I read a guide before that no return point, I would have likely have finished it and got a platinum. Graphics are kind of fuzzy. I want to say it's PSP graphics on the big screen.
