Well, I was going back and forth on PS Plus, so a year of this will probably do me. I went through the game list and there's a number of things that I would want to play, and doing them on PS Plus would save me from buying them since some of them would be one-and-dones versus things I'll replay. Guess the way it's set up you couldn't get 2 years at that discounted price though.

For players who are currently a PlayStation Plus Essential or Extra member, save 33% on the remainder of your membership when upgrading to PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe.**

Well that's bullshit... but pretty sure it was the same last year.

I'm mostly satisfied with the PlayStation ecosystem, but the way they price PS Plus is egregious for sure. As someone who only subscribes for online play and cloud saves there should be a cheaper tier with no "free" games.

The date for the Days of Play sale has been leaked. It's supposed to start this Wednesday the 28th of May and last until June 11th.

There is also a rumored State of Play being held sometime in June after Summer Game Fest and possibly a Showcase around September with the State of Play focusing around Death Stranding 2 and the Showcase showing off Ghost of Yotei.
For May specifically. This year the SoP was moved to next month instead of their normal showcase. Times are tough when you let an idiot reduce your portfolio to live service games.

If only you could get Steam on a console and it didn't require buying an entirely new PC setup...

It such a huge fucking joke to me that an existing member of PS Plus has no way to get a discounted 12 month membership. This used to be a thing and you could stack years but policies change. My membership expires on June 16th because they added five days to my account because of the outage so I have no way to get a discount now.

I am cancelling my subscription for the first time in years. I've subscribed to PlayStation Plus since the PS3. I even upgraded to Extra last year during this same sale. Hopefully they will have discounts on subscriptions again later in the year.

About the same. Mine lapses on 6/22 and I don’t plan to renew. The only thing I really care about is cloud saves.

Yep, this was the shit on top of online that made the switch to Game Pass easy. For years this is all PS+ was to me, and at the time I begrudgingly complied at $60/yr (often offset by sales down to $30-40). Never once downloaded a single free game because they were scraps. To be fair, MS was the first to create the draconian service that Sony followed suit but they never evolved it into a service that was worthy of the rising cost. The final two years of PS+ I had went to waste as I never turned the console on again.

Boy you sure wasted a lot of money.

Yeah i just had the same issue. I haven’t has PS Plus in 2 years and picked up a month a few weeks ago. Looks like Im screwed. I would have done a year subscription. Wack.
I kind of wonder if you add an essential year for 80 now if it will allow you to get a prorated year of extra or premium at the discounted rate? I'm too chicken shit to check right now though to try lol. I'm gonna think on it since this sale goes for a bit.

Bought a PS5 Pro. $50 off still wasn’t enough for me, even with tariff fear mongering as a new marketing tactic. But Dell has a 10% off code if you sign up for email offers. Took about 30 mins for me to get the code. Plus $40 back in dell rewards, and $20 back using PayPal. I don‘t use cash back sites much, pros with that could probably find better. Still, effectively $520, that’s more like it. I do not have American Express, but some may have an offer for $100 back if you spend $500 at dell, probably the best price that is ever going to be available if you can manage that as well.

Game Pass is the reason why games like Doom TDA has sold less than 1m copies. Great for gamers, shit for developers.
The developers get paid to be on GamePass too. We’ll never know what they get but it’s not like they’re giving away the game for free to be on GP.

There’s some devs that love it and keep putting their games on it so it can’t be that bad of a deal.

With Microsoft’s own games, they’re getting money directly from the subs.

Even with a bigger third party hit like Expedition 33, the devs have said how they’re happy with GamePass.

May vary from dev to dev, but it’s not necessarily “shit” for developers.
