PlayStation Plus - 3 Months for $18/1 Year for $50 - 8/24: New Games for September
yes, where applicable.
Damn, thanks
I think paying tax on it might make me pass
that little zombie game isnt that bad for a free game. i couldnt imagine paying for it but for free its entertaining.
Well it isn't free, your paying a subscription to get it, so you have paid for it at the end of the day. There really is nothing interesting for me at the moment but it will still be interesting to see if people come to love or hate it overtime.

In the first month I think I got my three dollars and thirty three cents worth.

I was planning on getting Age of Zombies anyway (it's $5) and I wanted to play Wipeout HD. The Collision Theme is nice too, but I'm not so sure about this month's PSOne Classic game. We'll see what next month brings. Hopefully we get another good mini, another good PSN title and a better PSOne game.

Just load your funds and then change your state/zip code to, for example, miami. After your purchase revert it back and that's it. No tax

For anyone wondering how the whole rental thing works (particularly with PSP compatible games) here's what the info screen looks like:

That's weird. Is this screen located somewhere on your PSP?

I ask because a similar screen exists on the PS3 under Account Management-->Transaction Management-->Services List. In that list I have only two entries- one for the PS+ service and one for the WipeOut HD "full game unlock-Entitlement". It seems strange that I don't have entries for the Mini or the PS1 game which I also downloaded yesterday. I wrote it off yesterday as something they were only doing with the full PSN titles but now I am concerned to see that you have an entry for the mini.

It's on my PS3. It's located on the game icon itself. Press the triangle button on the mini and PS1 classic games and select information (or details, some name like that) and you should see something like that. It's not there for Wipeout HD though. I think it's just for PSP compatible games.

It is weird that that they would have that information in two different places for PSN titles vs. Minis & PS1 titles. You are probably right that it has something to do with PSP compatibility.

I really wish they would put the small gold "plus" symbol next to the game titles on the actual XMB to make it easier to distinguish which games I have as part of the service and which ones I own 15 months from now when it is time to subscribe. It isn't a problem right now because the number of service titles is small, and I didn't already own any of them. However, when that number grows larger and has some overlap with titles I previously purchased outright it could get confusing.

Put them in a separate PS+ folder.

Heh, I tried to play a race in Rally Cross and the entire time kept thinking "Oh god, oh god. Please make it stop, make it go away".

Thank you very much for this suggestion.

I have had a PS3 since early 2007 and never knew you could create custom folders on the XMB. Either this was something added in a firmware update somewhere along the way, or I'm an idiot. (or both). After your suggestion a quick search showed me how to do this using the "Album" line in the information. That works great for what I wanted. Thanks again.

Question time!

If I played the full hour of Infamous via the full game demo, earned all my trophies and everything that's supposed to convert over to the full game when I purchase it.... would it still convert if I didn't buy it through the PlayStation Store and instead bought the game used from GameStop? Or do you HAVE to buy the game for too much on the PlayStation Store to keep your current game data and trophies?
Put them in a separate PS+ folder.
How do you create folders under the game section of the XMB? I saw that you can group them, and it makes its own folders for Minis and PS3 games, but I can't figure out how to make my own custom folders.

After it was suggested, I did a search and you can create custom groups by editing the "Album" slot in the information for the games and then by grouping the content by album. I just changed the Album name for each game to PS+.

For the curious its gameshareable. I picked it up and am able to download age of Zombies on both my ps3s.

The content maybe shareable- but the features are not. You can't have more than 1 machine set-up to do software updates, etc.

Pretty sure once you load the full game, regardless of where it came from, it should register your save file and unlock any trophies waiting to be unlocked.

The trophies should be universal for the game- Disc of Download.

My experience with Burnout though was that the save files weren't compatible.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.

Ok, one more thing I'm not clear on. For the included Qore subscription, do you get to keep that if you don't renew your subscription?

SCEA needs to give a permanent bonus to subscribers like SCEE and SCEJ did. WipeOut HD as a free rental ain't going to cut it.

Seems like there will be more stuff each week, like Fieldrunners and the dynamic themes.
Good to know. I joined up last night and got all the free stuff (except for the PS1 game). I had actually bought Cuboid and Magic Orbz when they were half off so the free DLC for those was a nice pickup so far (in addition to Wipeout). By my own internal reckoning, I've gotten $8 of value out of my $50 so far - not bad for 1 month out of 15. I expect some later months to be worthless though if I already have the one free PSN game (which will be likely as I have about 20).

I was wondering something though. I considered waiting till later in the month to join up because wouldn't that give me more time to pick up the free DLC that comes out in the 15 + 1 month? Does the sub run from the exact date you joined for 12 + 3 months, or does it start from the beginning of that month? If the former, it would seem better to join up as late in the month as possible so you can get the free stuff that gets added in the 16th month (since you'll get whatever is up at the end of the month you join plus whatever is up in the half-month at the end). For example, if you join at the end of July, you will presumably be able to get all the July stuff (unless it gets removed weekly as new things come up?), then all the the next 14 months, then the stuff that comes up in that 15 month until your sub ends - so, basically, 16 months worth of stuff.
WTF, I thought this was going to be free for the first 3 months?
Perhaps you should have read the articles instead of skimming them.

that was a screw up on sony's part. the first 3 months aren't free. it's just the U.S. specific deal that you get 3 free months with purchase

Ah, that explains it. Thanks. Looks like I'll be skipping this for now I already have Wipeout HD and Rally Cross so there is very little in it for me at the moment.

Yeah, you purchase PlayStation Plus at the price for one full year subscription and you get +3 months for free... totaling 18 months. You still pay full price for one year up front...

i felt the sameway since i had wipeout hd from a friend already, but there was a ton of add-ons free that i needed and the 3 free months made it a lot better

I think that's 15 months, not 18 months. 18 months would be 6 months free.

Okay, here's an idea for psn+ to evolve. Even though the majority of the CAGers here don't use it.

Sony could have special sales in Home. For clothing or things in your apartment. Or even offer free things ever month or week.

I haven't been in Home in ages, but thought it would be a decent idea.

home items wont get anybody to buy plus its the games that people want. if they put up better and newer games for dl through it then more people would by a sub. i can see those people who already sub to qore quitting that and getting plus but if they dont add beter games to dl they wont get more people into it. im hoping joe danger gets in there becase i want to play it but not for 15. if they do a 50% sale im in.

I dunno I think that's good idea. The people who are wiling to spend $ on Home items would most definitely buy the Playstation Plus

I'd imagine that you're paying for the whole month as it is on a calendar and not just the ~30 days starting on the date you signed up since that goes with the monthly offerings each month. So even if you sign up on July 28, you probably won't get a 16th month.

It's by days you can see how many days are remaining in your account if you go to the ps store.

For anyone wondering if Qore will really be included:
Each month’s single episode of Qore will be available to PlayStation Plus subscribers starting tomorrow when Qore – Episode 26 becomes available.

i was checking out the sony blog and alot of qore subscribers are pissed about plus members getting access. from one post i seems like even though you get a year sub for plus youre only getting month to month access to qore and if i rememer correctly some of the free stuff with qore you have to have a yearly sub to get. its also funny to read the sony guys responses against people ripping on qore.

They've really screwed the pooch on this whole QORE thing. It's going to end up being super confusing trying to track what free items are from QORE (that you get to keep) and what is from PS+ (that is pending your subscription).

If an item comes with QORE, and I'm only subscribed to PS+, do I keep it when I cancel my subscription?

Everyday that passes I feel dumber for buying into PS+, as I'm already a QORE subscriber. Hopefully some of these advanced features will show up sooner rather than later. I'm not going to keep subscribing to it AND the PS+ service. They need to make a line in the sand and say "PS+ subscribers are getting all the same stuff as an annual subscriber" and cut the annual subscribers a break, or just remove QORE from the PS+ features.

The smart thing to do is to eliminate Qore standalone subscriptions and just make it part of PS+ from now on. Otherwises there's too much redundancy. They'd have to do this 1 year from now for those that just signed up for Qore. They'd be smart to remove any annual signup from the PSN store.

Another way to further amend the situation is to offer existing Qore yearly subscribers a 50% off discount on a year of PS+. I think that's reasonable enough. They should have done this from the start, but this is Sony we're talking about

I don't understand the gripes. Qore subs are/were $25? PSN+ is $50.

If anything, roll Qore into PSN+ exclusively like ssjmichael suggests, or lower the sub price of Qore. If you've already sub'd to Qore, give those guys a month of PSN+ for free or add an extra month of Qore for those guys.

agreed becase at this point theyre looking at people not buying into plus out of spite. i dont blame qore subscribers for being pissed because sony hasnt even made a move yet to sort all this out and try to appease them. their attitude towards it comes off like 'what are you complaining about qore is a great deal no matter how you get it'.
