On average, how large are the demos? like mb wise.
The demos vary in size, generally between 500MB and 1GB for the demos of retail games, and 15MB to 50MB for the demos of XBLA games. Someone else can probably give slightly more accurate numbers, but I am posting from work so I can't check my system.
On average, how large are the demos? like mb wise.
I believe the smallest is 305 MB and the largest is 1.07 GB, but I'm just going off of memory. Most tend to be 500-800 with a few lower and a few higher.

And remember that you may want to delete demos as soon as you're done with them, cuz the hard drive fills up fast once you start downloading a bunch.

Since I never owned a xbox and just picked up a 360 recently I started listing out a few games I wanted to grab for the xbox to play. I was pretty shocked when I looked at the backwards compatability list for the first time. Truthfully I never really paid attention to it before, since I wasn't a 360 owner. I knew the list was weak, but didn't realize how weak. Out of the 12 games I wrote down as must to go back and pick up 6 are not backwards compatible. Riddick, Freedom Fighters, Otogi, Otogi 2, Conker Reloaded, and Pyschonauts. Last I heard they were basically done adding older games. Anyone heard anything new on this front?

Question.

I've never bought warranty on an item like this before, and I'm not 100% sure how it would work.

If I buy the two year plan from MS, and my new 360 that is on its way to my house as we speak breaks in, say, 4 months, I send it back. Do I get a new 360 or just the same one?

Also, if they release a better 360 model in under two years, can I just send the one I have now in for that one?

"do I get a new 360 or just the same one"

It depends on whats wrong with it. I sent in my bros 360 because it wouldnt read dvds and they sent me back a different 360 but it didn't look brand new.
can you use the pc 360 controller on the 360 itself?
The PC controller and the wired 360 controller are the same. There's just some software included with the PC version so it will work with your computer.

Didn't want to make a new thread for this, so here goes.

When I was down the beach, I bought a second wireless controller (no tax and a sale woo!)

Anywho, I've barely touched it, but once I go back to school Im sure it will get plenty of use.

This is actually my third controller (I also have a wired one)

Anywho my question is, should I get a second play and charge kit (I already have one) or a quick charge kit.

Eventually, if I find a good deal, I will buy a 3rd wireless controller so I have 4 controller total. I'm kinda leaning more towards a quick charge kit so I can charge both my batteries before I go to sleep ya know?

Instead of the quick charge? Only thing I dont like about having two play and charge kits is that since one of the three controllers is wired, I couldnt have all 3 plugged in at the same time.

if anything there's the USB on the back, though I don't know if controllers work on that one.

You could always get one of these:

Quickly recharge up to two battery packs at the same time. Your Xbox 360 Wireless Controller needs a new battery? Swap in a fresh pack from the Quick Charge Kit. Multiple wireless controllers? Pick up a couple of extras, so you'll always be ready with a fully charged battery that's ready to go.
(One rechargeable battery pack is included in the Quick Charge Kit. Additional packs sold separately.)

 • The fastest way to recharge one or more rechargable battery packs.
 • A cleaner charging solution—no wires to plug into your console.
 • Always ready and easily accessible—no need to stow it after each use.
 • Charge one battery pack in less than two hours, or two packs in less than four hours.
 • Battery offers up to 25 hours of play per charge.
 • Includes charging stand for two batteries, one Xbox 360 Rechargeable Battery Pack, and a power cord.

XBOX LIVE question...

If I only have a Silver LIVE account I can buy (via marketplace points) XBOX live arcade games but only play them online if I have a Gold LIVE account?

Yep.

Xbox Live question as well. From what I understand the only way to change you gamertag is to use 800 marketplace points and buy a new tag, Is this correct?

Yes

Advice question:

Should I get the Xbox360 now or should I wait for that rumored PGR3 360 bundle?

It would be nice to get the bundle since it will include PGR3 and the Marketplace points and 3 months of Live but I don't want to wait around for something that may never come out. Also with Dead Rising and Saint's Row coming out, I'm going to have a hard time waiting.

I think I just answered my own question. I'll wait until Monday at the latest.

If this bundle is true, it should have been out by now. All the reports said it was coming August 1st, but I haven't seen it anywhere around here. Once Dead Rising is out and Saints Row, I can't imagine anyone putting off the purchase of the 360. When you go to get your system Monday, ask about the bundle. If they look confused as hell or laugh at you, just get the premium and a game or two and whatever else you want.

Linkin prime, if I'm not mistaken, isn't what you posted the quick charge kit? :p

I think thats what I'll get. This way after some long sessions with my roomates, I can just plug the batteries in and go to bed.
If I have a regular TV and I get the premium, will I still have to buy composite cables?
no, the premium comes with a composite/component multi cable.

you may want to get an s-video cable though, if they make one.

They do make an S-video cable. It even has an optical out if you want 5.1 sound. I bought one because I move my 360 around a lot, and it's much easier to have an extra AV cable then to unplug the component every time.

Sweet welcome to the club :p

Feel free to send me a friend request.

I sent you guys a request. I still need to get my full year of Live so I only have the month trial of Gold for now.

Question: Can you watch videos from your computer (like TV episodes for example) on your 360? I already have the Windows Connect installed.

Thanks for the help.

I reccomend searchin the deals thread for possible ways to get the year of live for $25 to $40. I got mine off a CAG for $26 which is a huge steal IMHO.

I gotta try the windows connect sometime... see how it works exactly.

I know there is a way to watch Live TV, because that was one of the selling points for me way back when...but I have no fucking clue how to use the Windows Media Center to do it. If you guys don't have that, then I don't think it's possible.

So I picked up a hard drive at Sears Sunday and its been sitting in the closet for 2 days. I was considering keeping it as a spare for that price. My question to the experienced 360 owners is would this be worthwhile or a waste? My thought process is I could always back up my current HD and recover the data in a worse case scenario, right? Or is this not even worth doing.

I've actually thought about having a spare HD myself, it makes a lot of sense to me, especially since I've seen how easy it is for a HD to fill up. I say keep it.

What are the things you need right off the back. I'm going to purchase a year of live off amazon, plug and play kit, maybe another controller, looking for a deal on a eharmony remote, the vertical stand with the fan, and two games Oblivion and problaby LOTR:BFME2 and maybe Ping Pong. I will also be purchasing a t.v so at the present time I problaby can't afford the insurance. Can I wait til around the 2 and a half month mark to upgrade to the insurance. I have been told as long as I'm in the 3 month period I can do it. Anything else you guys think I need also.

Ok, well theres a good possibility that I'm going to be getting a 360 for my birthday. I really need to know if getting the $300 dollar model is a bad thing. Before you answer, you must know that I have no intention of paying for an xbox live account. I'm basically only getting it for dead rising (for the moment anyway)

I don't know, just tell me EVERYTHING I need to know about this before I go ahead and get one.

It wouldnt be a bad thing since you can buy everything later to make it the same as the premium model (unlike the ps3) but you will probably want the hard drive and that will cost 99. so personally id go with the premium so you get the wireless controller too, its almost like getting it for free compared to buying the core then a HD.

Well the thing is that my parents will most definetly not spend more then 300 on a present. I want the premium console, but if I'm gunna get me a 360 at no cost to me, I'm probably gunna have to get the $300 dollar one.

I don't know, the more I think about this, the worse it seems. Right now theres only one game I want for it, and I don't want to make my parents spend all that money if I'm not even gunna use it a lot. Other then dead rising, theres only one other game I want (Gears of War [which I could get on my PC when its released anyway]). I already have Oblivion and Condemned: CO on my computer, so I don't need to get those. I'm confused

what would you get instead? I dont have a list or anything but theres a ton of good games coming out soon, and that are already available. i always play burnout revenge for like an hour when i go to best buy. army of two looks like it will be pretty awesome. theres a ton of others.

Don't forget the $20-$25 added cost of a memory card on the core.

I don't know, maybe it's not such a good idea. Like I said, the more I think about this the worse the idea seems. Can someone post a list of games that are available now? And a list of games that haven't been released yet. That would help me alot. I can't find a good list.

OH! Also, I don't really know what Xbox live is. To be able to download new content for my games, will I have to be paying a certain amount each month? And does the $300 dollar model have everything I need to download stuff?
