Pokemon Black and White: General Discussion and Info: For Real This Time

Cool item on Serebii this morning..

Zoroark - its ability is illusion, which copies the name and appearance of the last pokemon in your party.

Although I've always just stuck with the metagame, it would be nuts to think you are battling a Bidoof that has flamethrower and night slash. :hot:

I'm not sure which version to go with. I kind of want the Black legendary, Reshiram or something, which is a fire type. But since I plan to play with Tepig, which is fire type also, I may go with Pokemon White to get the Zoroark, which is Dragon/Electric. I don't know if the storyline changes much with each version. Doesn't one of them have a special city and one have a special forest? Can you access both special areas from one copy of the game somehow?

Like any generation I'll have to grab both. Can't wait for this to come out but I still need to finish up Platinum and Heart Gold. After that for the time being I'll work on trying to "catch them all". Also great pics Utopian. Saved!

Yeah, now I have to buy both. Great.

Although I foresee Nintendo getting slapped with a lawsuit from the ACLU because it's called Black City.

Aww, that sucks. I like the environments a lot better in Black, but I already preordered White and would much rather have White's Legendary.

Oh well, good thing I have an Action Replay! Will definitely pick up Black.

I'm in for White's Legendary too. Not taking double damage from SR = The better of the two in my eyes. >_> I'll probably end up getting both versions though. Maybe some places will be nice and announce their preorder bonuses, and we can see if there's one for preordering both like with G/S and P/D.

Tru's bonus is still kinda lame.

I'm hoping amazon or gamestop gets a better bonus wall cling doesn't interest me, but I might get one version at toys r us anyways since I have a giftcard for there..

I'd love a figure of Zekrom or Reshiram or those keychain that does the sounds of the two legendary like the Japanese pre order.. still early they might announce something soon.

I just found out about the black & white mall tour and there will be one in Indianapolis I hope to go to it.

I've been waiting to pre order this hoping somewhere else will offer a different pre order bonus I don't have use for a wall cling.

I'm so excited for B&W I've stayed away from B&W pictures only seen the two legendary, and pokemon that showed on the anime.

I can't wait to see the new pokemon and play the game.

Looks like we won't get figures like platinum and HG and SS ah well..

TRU gives a wall cling for pre order

Bestbuy has this Earn 500 points $10 value with pre order and purchase of pokemon black or pokemon white
Walmart.com has this Purchase the Pokemon Black Prima Strategy Guide with this bundle and receive 25% off the cover price!!

Dunno if this will be in store or not.

Amazon not doing any pre order thing, but who knows though they do have the guides for decent price..

I might do TRU for one version since I have a $25 gift card to use and the other version at Bestbuy for the 500 points..

Would I be able to price match the walmart game guide deal if it's in store too?

Currently finishing up my playthrough of the Japanese version of Black. Lemme say, there's quite an emphasis on story in the game and the Gym Leaders ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING!

Remember in 1st Gen how Team Rocket took over Silph Co. and no one from the Fighting Dojo or even Sabrina lifted a finger to run them out of town? Or how in 2nd Gen Azalea Town's Slowpoke Well and even Goldenrod's Radio Tower was taken hostage by Team Rocket and yet neither Bugsy or Whitney did anything? Hell, Kurt trying chasing them off and he was an old man!

Well, the Gym Leaders actually take part in the story this time around and do provide their assistance in different ways against Team Plasma. Without getting into spoilers, I will say it's very satisfying to see a main-game Pokemon title with this much actual story used outside of the general villain and legendary cutscene plots.

Also Target has if you pre order the game you'll receive a $5 gift card upon purchase.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like the Hardcover Collector's Edition guide contains both Volume 1 (Official Pokemon Strategy Guide) & Volume 2 (Official Unova Pokedex & Guide).

I'm expecting the hardcover to be a full game walkthrough and pokedex since they split Pre-E4 and Post-E4/Pokedex as guides in HGSS. If it's the case, owning even one of the 2 separate volumes is a complete waste.

Here's what I found on prima guide's forums about the guide.

"Here is a detailed breakdown of the content in the different guides. Hope this helps!

Volume 1: Complete walkthrough with maps and a Pokémon training primer, plus mini-poster. On sale 3/6

Volume 1 Collector’s Edition: Hardcover book with all the content of volume 1 (walkthrough, maps, mini-poster, etc.), plus the Unova region Pokédex. On sale 3/6

Volume 2: Post-game guide plus Unova region Pokédex and bonus poster (different from vol.1 poster). On sale 4/25"

So the Volume 1 Collector's Edition does not have the post-game guide only the Unova region Pokedex?

What exactly does a "post-game" guide cover?

I have all of them pre-ordered but now i dont know
sucks that Dragon age 2 comes out the same week as i want that and the CE guide for that
sounds like the CE is the one to get for a full pokedex which is the main reason i want the guide
im sure between Seribii.net and GmaeFAQs ill be good and walkthroughs and battles for gyms and elite fours

The maps and item locations are probably the only things you're going to need the books for. All of the other main info could be found online easily.

[quote name='adriley313']mainly want a good pokedex

Pokemon can be looked up by region number, ABC order, type, EVs they give in battle, how they evolve and what Egg Group they belong to. Each individual entry lists what Ability/Abilities they can get (as well as any applicable Dream World Abilities), type damage they take from battle, level up move lists, TM and HM move lists, Move Tutor move lists, Egg move lists, Dream World move lists, moves they can only learn in pre-evolved forms, moves they can learn in only the previous generation and their overall base tats.

Do any of the official guides mention IVs or the special effects some items have to pass down traits and IVs? I remember back when Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald were the newest versions, people were complaining about the fact they never covered it.

I remember the Platinum guide made a brief mention to them, but didn't really elaborate on them in great detail. Not so sure about the HG/SS guides since I skipped those after seeing how they split them into two volumes.

I went to the pokemon B&W mall tour today in Castleton mall and has lots of fun bought all the plush toys and the two big legendary figurines and a t shirt.

I liked the demo of the game got me even more excited for the game.

I wish the pokemoncenter online store was still around I loved buying plush pokemon every so often..

I'm even more excited for the game the battle sprites are really nice and animated.

How much was the merchandise? is it cheaper than the stuff you can get online? Was thinking about getting some of the plush dolls but $20 seems a bit much for a plush doll to me.

Did you see the Dream World at all? I'm a little anxious about it as I don't know a whole lot about it, however I know that's the only place you can grow berries, etc.

anyone know a good site to buy decent pokemon figures or plushies
not eBay or Amazon as all their stuff looks like knockoff and cheap crap. just want a cool espeon

The big Resharim, and Zekrom plushies are $20 each, the little plushies are $10 each, the little figurines are $5 and the the bigger Resharim and Zekrom figurines were $10 each.

They also have T shirts starter pokemon ones and the two legendary ones.

The starter pokemon one was in youth sizes only and the two legendary t shirts where in normal sizes I got a 1x zekrom shirt.

I thought the prices was great didn't have to pay shipping..

When the pokemoncenter.com was still around the little plush dolls were 9.98 or something so I think their prices on things were about right better then most toy places selling them.

This amazon page has the same large resharim plush for $59 or something I rather get it for $20.. not sure what other sites are selling it for maybe cheaper dunno.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0..._rd_t=301&pf_rd_p=1263465782&pf_rd_i=resharim

The big figure of zekrom and resharim is about 6" or something like that I need to measure it, but it's really nice and worth getting in my opinion I got both.

sure we'll get plush toys and figures, but most likely they'll be hasbro or something like that.

The game demo was only 10 minutes you can play on black or white on white you play as a boy and white a girl both the same demo pretty much, but has a different season.

You get to battle your childhood friend and walk around a bit, battle some wild pokemon in the grass and then battle with a different childhood friend and then meet up with prof juniper that's it.

-shrugs-

I was going to upgrade to a DSi or DSi XL because it's the only way to take advantage of the updated features for the game, but I ended up springing for a PSP instead. I'll worry about the DW and Multiplayer events when Nintendo releases its 2nd 3DS.

looks amazing

I've been reading a few articles lately about how the 3DS will spell the end of the DS's run. Are there anymore big titles announced to be coming out on the DS this year and next? Aside from Okamiden and PM B/W that is...?

Yeah, it does look amazing. But sadly, I'm gonna have to pass on it.

It's a shame the release of B/W came so late for us. If that DSi XL was released when the JPN version was, I would have bought it without a second thought.

Now... I can't really justify it.

i have no intrest in the 3DS right now
looks cool but no games i wanna play
ill be rockin pokemon and dragon quest for awhile
