Predict the uber rares of ps2.
I think the difference is that the $20 game with 2 copies available is rare, and the $100 game with 20 copies available is 'in demand'.

Lots of rare games suck, and the only people that get them are collectors looking for completion. Those games may always stay cheap, because even tho they are rare, there is not much demand. Some games have very large print runs, and are readily available, but command high prices because everyone wants a copy. The high price doesnt automatically qualify it as 'rare'.
Exactly. I have a sealed copy of Fox Hunt for the Playstation. It is so rare that most of you won't know what the hell I am talking about. However there is no demand for that game so the price (the one time I saw one on ebay) is less than $20.
Trapt
I own all those but Trapt and can easily see these being uber rare down the line of the next-gen life.
I really need to get that game soon. I love the Deception series.

I would say Grownlanser Generations: Deluxe may be in the $120 range far sealed version in the future. Now that Working Designs is gone the value will probably go up somewhat. It wouldn't be much of a surprise though since it started at $89.99 anyways.

Usually the "rare" games come at the twilight of a systems life span. I think Okami (especially if it becomes another ICO (aka. loved by critics and fans but generally ignored by the masses) could become a potential rare gem. Good RPG's from small publishers and nitch developers are know to become rare and sought if the print numbers are low. Keep an eye out for the games from NIS and Atlus when the PS2 release list start dwindling with PS3's release. Rogue Galaxy is an RPG that I think will be great but probably won't be a hit with the mass gaming community because it's not from Square-Enix.

DDR Max 1 and 2 are the only games that can have been out for 3 years, not necessarily been underprinted and still have a price tag of 29.95 EVERYWHERE.

If you can find one, I would recommend picking up a copy of Yourself Fitness, these things are super scarce. I'm an ebay guy, and i'm holding on to mine, and that's saying a lot for me.

with GQD reprinting any game going over $100, the only rare game will be marvel vs capcom 2 (assuming capcom dont regain the marvel license)

I agree. Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

But I'm certain that Capcom doesn't need to renew the liscense to reprint it or rerelease it in a collection or something. They paid the liscense fee for that game. So they can do whatever they want with it. Kind of the way the old Zelda and Mario cartoons were made back in the 80s/90s and now being rereleased on DVD without a peep from Nintendo.

They don't have the right to sell or produce marvel character games in any shape or form. There's no way they can reprint it unless they get the licensing rights back.

Can you back that up? Because I honestly thing that's wrong. They're not producing new product, just rehashed. In any case, link me.

The only source I have is this press release:
http://www.xboxaddict.com/news/view.php?News_ID=4369
Under the multi-year agreement, EA has been granted a license to develop and distribute fighting games featuring the Marvel Super Heroes.

The important part of that is that EA has the rights to distribute the marvel games. If Capcom still had distribution rights to Marvel-licenses games there wouldn't be much point in licensing a product in the first place.

Your certainly right, they can not produce anymore games with Marvel intellectual property BUT that also means that they can't reprint games that they already have.

If you want another famous example, have you ever heard of the Star Wars Collectible Card Game? Originally a company named Decipher had the rights/license to produce card games based on the Star Wars universe. Then a couple years ago Lucasarts, whom owns Star Wars, refused to renew the license to Decipher and instead granted it to Wizards of the Coast (the makers of the Magic card game). At the point when Decipher's license expired not only were they not allowed to print/produce anymore cards but they also could not ship anymore that they had in inventory.

Thanks for the link.

After reading that story and running to Google with "Marvel Capcom license terms" I guess I can't argue. Their terms with Marvel (I guess) stated distribution only while they had the license, which is shit if ask me. Capcom should be able to do what then want with their previous Marvel titles, such as a collection, as long nothing new title (MvC3) is actually made. But whatever. That's what they agreed to. And I guess Marvel knows their mistake after seeing EA's attempt.

...I still have my Decipher cards. ;) I thought they went out of business though.

Rare or in high demand?

I think Castle Shikigami 2 will be pretty rare in five years, but not priceworthy rare. Same with Beyond Good & Evil, I think.
Nocturne will definitely be in demand
I wonder how in demand its going to be in the future. I have had like...5 chances to pick this up for $25 and keep passing on it for some reason.

but clearly the license is not exclusive, as currently activison and EA are both making marvel games. So it is possible for Capcom to get the licsense back. Also Bandai published Dragon Ball GT, but the reprint is published by Atari when they lost the licsense. However I dont see Capcom letting EA publish a reprint of MvC2.

When Goblins Attack. It's a PS2 game I saw at Kohl's during Christmas week, but I've never heard of it in any magazines or websites.

Well, its exclusive, kind of. EA has rights to make fighting games and Activision has the rights to adventure/action games. I have a feeling that the only reason EA doesn't have all of it is because Activision signed a lengthy contract with Marvel. I honestly wouldn't hold my breath on Capcom getting the license back because Marvel wasn't too impressed with what Capcom did with the license. EA on the other hand, despite the flop, put a lot behind their attempt at a fighting game. Additionally, the deal with EA included the right for Marvel to create comic books based on EA's new characters (like the ones they created for Nemesis).

Are you sure you have the name right? Its not showing up on Gamerankings.com and they usually have a pretty extensive list of games.

nocturne will never be rare, atlus or GQD would reprint them. Didn't they already reprint it a couple of times?

I do have the limited edition which hopefully stays limited.

The only thing that's limited about it is that it comes with the soundtrack, which Atlus sells on their website for $2 shipped.

There was a second printing without the soundtrack, but I have never seen it. I always see LEs.

Maybe he's thinking of Goblin Commander???

Well then there's also the packaging that states it's limited edition and the special two disc holder case! It can still be a collectors item compared to a regular version with a $2 cd.
I think its going to be the opposite. The new censored San Andreas will be the rare one. Honestly, who didnt already have that game who wanted it when the hot coffee thing broke? They must have sold millions of copies of the original. Theres no way they are going to sell that many copies of the newer version.
Sounds like I should go buy one of the three Limited Edition GTA SA that are on my nearest CC before the regular GH version takes over.

I know this is an old thread, but does anyone know if the Nocturne soundtrack CD is still available from Atlus? I found something saying it's free with an order, but is there a link to just get the CD?
