Prepare to be.....ENSLAVED-Due out Oct. 5th(Dev. by Ninja Theory,Pub by Bandai/Namco)

Quick details:

*Set in post apocalyptic Earth setting
*Only 50k humans left alive(supposedly)
*You play as "Monkey",who is one of the 50k humans left and has been enslaved by "Trip", another of the 50k humans left
*Loosely based on 16th century Chinese novel "Journey To The West"(but is set 150 years in the future)

Game synopsis:

It is set amidst the ruins of cities, which are now overrun with lush greenery, it is a stark change from so many other post apocalyptic games(see: Fallout), which are set in barren grey landscapes.

You play as Monkey, who is one of the mere 50k humans left alive after this apocalypse. The 50k humans are divided into two seperate groups: those who wish to go it alone to try and survive in this new world and those who want to band together. Monkey is one of the loners in this new world.

Somewhere along the way, he meets Trip, who uses a control headband she has stolen and modified to enslave him so he will help her to get home. If he refuses to cooperate, the headband will crush his skull.

This game looks pretty. Has a cool idea. I may get this game.
I love it when games actually have color. So many new games today are just brown.

There wasn't a thread on this already?!

I preordered it from Gamestop when the 25% off coupon worked on preorders.

There's also a developer's walkthrough video up on Gametrailers that reveals a bit more about the story and mechanics. I imagine we'll see some more details with E3 around the corner, though Bamco's newly-announced Knights Contract may take most of the spotlight alongside Ultimate Ninja Storm 2.

I'll have to look for the dev walkthrough you mentioned to add to the OP, lonepig. And no, there wasn't a thread up for this game as of yet, unless I missed it somehow.

There also wasn't a thread up for I Am Alive, but I created one a while back for that game as well. I've been looking forward to both of these for a while now, though IAA has been pushed back to 2012.

Q4? That's a little bit surprising. I saw a preview few days a go and the dev said that the game won't be ready anytime soon. I wish them well with that game, my dear heavenly sword is very good, but with Q4 window they might not sell as much as they would like to.
Since this game is due out next month(Oct 5th), I figured I'd update the release date in the title and OP and bump up the thread.
Yawn, waiting on reviews given their history. How the hell is Heavenly Sword still $60?

I was really turned off by a few of the gameplay segments they showed. This looks like a solid rental though. Looking better than Castlevania, that's for sure.

Game looks good but there's so many good games coming out this year still. I'll probably wait until it hits around $30.

You know it's only either $15 or $20 at Kmart, right? One of the local Kmart stores has two copies of it in stock, both marked $60.;)

Oh I know, I got it two years ago when Amazon had it for $20 on BF. Ended up flipping it back for the same after finally playing it a year later lol. Just saying the MSRP is still $60.

Heavenly Sword never made it to GH... It's weird though. HS is a great game, no trophies, ack! I never beat the last boss  The sob is pretty tough.

Anyhow, Enslaved does look interesting, giving that I have so much to play, not interested paying retail or even $40 for it, more like $15-$20ish :)

Parts of HS just seemed like a straight up God Of War clone sans a JUMP button. That was one thing that annoyed the piss out of me was the lack of a jump button.

But then again that sword was HUGE that Nariko was swinging around, so I suppose that could be used to explain the lack of being able to jump.

And was it just me or did Nariko sound a bit like Peta Wilson from La Femme Nikita?

I've been anxiously following the videos as they've been made available on Gametrailers and other sites. Even though I have both this and Castlevania preordered, I'll definitely be playing this one first.

Nariko is voiced by Anna Torv from Fringe (TV series)

Ahh. I don't watch much tv nowdays save for Adult Swim and a little bit of History/Discovery Channel, so I don't even know who that is.

The demo was pretty fun, so I'll definitely give this a rental if nothing else.

Strong Uncharted 2 vibes during the climbing sections.

Where did you play the demo?

Someone has to at least say the word once in this thread, so let me get it out of the way: Escort.

I REALLY hate escort missions. With a hellfire hot undying passionate hate, the stuff of biblical beginnings and apocalyptic endings. So I'm going to wait on this one until several months after release; that way I can read opinions from many others before taking a chance on it.

Darksiders was an excellent game that I didn't see coming, and I think that Enslaved will be the same. Has anyone found out if there is any significant difference in the PS3 or 360 versions?

im holding out hope that since ninja theory did their 1st game on ps3, enslaved (and the new dmc reboot) will be a ps3 game ported to the 360 instead of the usual other way around.

Agreed, I'm hoping that is the case. It just seems lately Devs seem to be putting all their efforts into the 360, looking at you Mafia 2, and ignoring the PS3.

you would have to think (at least i would) that the next xbox is going to be blu ray, so why wouldnt the devs want to get their hands on the tech now to familiarize themselves with it for the next generation.

That's why I largely hated State Of Emergency, since it seemed like every mission was an escort mission.

Hopefully this game will allow you to explore a bit of the game world and not just be a straight 'go from point A to point B' escort mission.

But with my backlog as it is now I'll probably just skip buying this until it's much cheaper. By then there will be enough reviews out for it that I can then make a more informed decision as to whether or not I even want to bother with it.

As it is I couldn't stand Heavenly Sword for the lack of a jump button and for initially forcing you to use the SixAxis motion controls in certain spots.

Pretty impressive demo, this game was not really on my radar at all, but now it is. I did have a decent amount of screen tearing and a little bit of slow down. Anyone else have this problem?

It's alarming how similar to Uncharted this is. But it's to be expected, Ninja Theory are the masters of copying other games. All things considered the demo was a blast.

this is going to sound dumb- but I liked Dante, and couldn't stand GoW1-2. Didn't try 3.

Anyway- played the demo and it was pretty impressive. The action was great. The lip-sync was off in the cut scenes and it was bugging the hell out of me. What are the chances that it's only doing that in the demo?

I'd set-up a pre-order this minute if I thought the whole game wouldn't be escort missions. I fucking hate escort missions. I mean, I really fucking hate escort missions..
Meh. Castlevania is overrated.
Yeah, but it's a proven IP and Enslaved releasing on the same day is folly. Not only that, but every week afterward is just AAA titles that will quickly bury it in sales. I'm excited for a good 3D Castlevania for once and I have a feeling this is the one.
I think the real question here is will you buy this or Castlevania? Enslaved hasn't got a chance.
if TRU holds a gift card for both, then ill pick both up.

Sometimes I wish I could bitch slap people through a computer screen.

You need to finish Castle Crashers with me first. ;)

It should also be noted that K-mart originally thought this game was coming out the 12th of October, so the pre-order bonus should run 2 weeks instead of 1 (because it is actually printed in the ad). That might help people who can't get 2 games in a week. Get Castlevania with a $20 coupon, then get Enslaved the next week with another $20 coupon.

Wasn't too impressed with the demo. I'll wait for a big ole' price drop on this down the road before I purchase myself a copy.

Why? How am I wrong? Go on, tell me. I'd love to know.

As for the escort mission deal, an interview said it wouldn't be a huge escort mission, that she'll not only fight for herself but you'll also be able to perform special double team attacks with her. I DO think she gets trapped and kidnapped plenty as well, leaving you by yourself or with the pig guy.
