I'd like to know your reasoning because if it's 2D vs 3D it aint valid.
I know I'm going to sound like a graphic whore but SFIV looks way more beautiful. I know fighting games don't need to be graphic powerhouses but I haven't read an report/impression that SFIV suffered from it graphic overhaul. Maybe I'm in the minority but I think SFIV's graphic overhaul was a good/right move by Capcom.

if you think of it though, KoF went through graphic overhaul as well but stayed in the same genre of graphics. Capcom went the easier route but pulled it off without messing with goodness. again, I think
you are still referring to 2D vs 3D

wurd MM

21 characters in KOFXII (at least in the test version select screen), I think they only had 12 available at the time.

WHERE"S K'!!!!?

Ill admit, Arcana Heart 2 looks slightly better than the first, but I'd still be shocked if it were worth playing more than a single match in that game.
Maybe it's just me, but KoFXII looks dated compare to SFIV.
SFVI certainly looks more dynamic because of all the camera movement during supers. You're able to see detailed facial expressions.

But I can't deny KOF XII. Staying 2D was the right move for them. They tried KOF in 3D and it just didn't work out. Most everything SNK & 3D is pretty much a failure. The 21 playable characters is a disapointing number, but this is a stepping stone. I'm sure each year the rooster will climb.

Lol, between SFVI and rooster, I was wildly entertained by that post.

But I agree that staying 2D was the right move. And I'm fine with a smaller roster, because the gameplay has changed. You don't wanna jump in haphazardly with like 50 characters, and end up with a complete mess - SNK has to figure that shit out, and they realize it.

Guys, I need your help. Please help me out... if you do I'll make sure it is worth your while.

SFVI will probably be super awesome. But we'll probably have to wait for a few SFIV revisions first. And who knows how long it will take for SFV to be released? Maybe I'll see it before I die. :)

In all seriousness, I agree with you. Although I enjoyed KOF in 3D, I didn't take it serious, and I went in with low expectations. But those 3D KOFs had some insane combos you could put together. Plus I liked the roster, especially in 2006/MI2. But everyone knows that 2D is where it's at. And I'm more than happy with how KOFXII looks. Smaller roster is cool too, since it might be more balanced and polished than if they just threw 40 dudes in there.

For a great example of (3D + SNK = Failiure), check out Metal Slug 3D sometime.

I'd help out Markman, but I don't have access to my 360 or Xbox right now and my memory is fuzzy and/or corrupted by my custom control setups.

Got yo' back! Like other have said, if you need PS1/2/3, Dreamcast, or non-BC xbox, just ask.

That's a great looking trailer, but what is up with Chun's and Cam's lips? They don't look right for some reason.

You know, I thought the same thing. Maybe it's because most animes depict lips as just lines.

Is this related to SFII the movie? Also, how did E. Honda not die after falling off a cliff in SFII: the Animated Movie?

Chun-li and Ken fight? I wonder how that's going to end, haha.

It's all good! I completed everything!

Thank you everyone that helped. I got something special for ya'll come Feb. Just keep it on the shhhh.

BlueSwim, DJ Booba, Zmonkay... I'll hit you guys up/remind me in Feb. Just in case I forget.

GAHHHH!!! I grabbed some other ones that weren't on zmonkeys list. LOL. At least you got it all :D

I assumed that Capcoms current button-mapping scheme in xbox Street Fighter would be used for the Madcatz arcade stick. Are you guys finding that it matches up well with other fighting games?

Interesting that markman wants to know about other button schemes :D. Some custom stick builders have added a toggle switch for quick button mapping. Kinda went like this...

Setting 1: Default mapping for Street Fighter
Setting 2: Default mapping for Guilty Gear
Setting 3: Default mapping for SNK fighters
etc, etc

Just throwing that out there :whistle2:#

Will the SFIV PS3 stick be arranged like the Namco stick with the right two buttons being R1 and R2? Or will it be L1 and R1?

I'm assuming the 360 stick will be LB and RB for the right two buttons.

it's so funny coz in the regional SRK forums for the Street Fighter IV @ FFA thread, there's only one dood who posts in there!!

he has like 20 posts in a row, and he's the guy who created the topic!

he's like "hay guys! come to play FFA! We'll be open 24 hours! come in the morning if u wanna practice! bring your video camera so we can record Gouken! Tournament next week! Anybody gonna be here this weekend?"

lol those Street Fighter 4 machines dont pay for themselves

SFIV on consoles in February...tic-toc muthafawka!!

It's sooo far away :(

But wait, Capcom's basically doing Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 in the span of a month then? The amount of ass that would kick would be incomprehensible.

Hopefully, there won't be a delay for the PC version of SF IV, because I want to beat up fools pronto.

Hopefully the PC version of SFIV has cross platform play with 360, like Lost Planet Colonies. Free GFW Live Gold means I don't need XBL Gold anymore, unless I want to play VF5 online.

That new KOFXII trailer looks sooo good. Heads are gonna roll if Clark isn't in the game, though. :bomb:

Oh, and I'm going to Houston next week for HOBO 11 (big Brawl tournament). It's hosted at Planet Zero, which has a SFIV machine. Hell, I hope I get eliminated early so I can play SFIV as much as possible.

I'm just hoping SFIV PC plays. For some reason, every capcom game I've tried on PC runs like shit or has some random glitch I can't fix. Picked up Lost Planet for 360 just because my PC played it fine, but there was no sound. none. DMC, Onimusha, RE4.... all sloppy ports.

DMC4 was pretty much a renewed effort from Capcom. They were like "hey, what if we tried this time?" And the game looks and runs better than any console port I've ever played. (Actually it was originally made on the PC I think, so I guess it makes sense.)

SmallWind, JEKKI, or Markman can you explain what was up at certain points in that vid?

Did that Abel player Cr.FP --->236 FK ---> LP/LK

Didn't even know that was possible.

Seeing that video makes me want to whip out Third Strike just to practice up. I hope SFIV has some of the modes the older console SF games had. Alpha 3 on the PS1 had a great "World Tour" mode. Even Super II on the SNES had more modes than SF3:TS did. The return of the "Tournament" and the "Time Attack" modes is long overdue if you ask me. Can you imagine how competitive the online leaderboards would be for the "Time Attack" mode?

Abel's dp (623) + P move is an aerial grab, not necessarily a good anti-air but can definitely be used in that combo.

also when doing the roll, the strength of your kick determines the distance, hence why I think it was LK.

you can EX roll as well, it's just real fast and has a real short recovery, I dont know how the distance compares tho

What Jekki said.

You can also do

cr. FP -> dp + pp (ex version)

If you do that, you can eliminate the roll. I did it yesterday, which brings me to my next story. I came home to my mom's this weekend to play more Street Fighter 4. Went last night and played for about an hour and a half. Some guy eventually came that was really good, so I played him for a bit then left. I got to see Zangief nastyness first hand, and also a really good rush-down Ken (the guy I mentioned eartlier). I got to try Abel finally, as well as Ryu, Bison and Akuma. It was pretty fun.

Also, sorry MM I didn't see that in time. If you need more help with stuff post up because I have just about every game on that list.

Oh, really? I never tried DMC4 on PC. I was actually referring to DMC3, which my buddy got cuz he doesn't have a PS2 and it was nearly unplayable. Really glad to here that Capcom seems to have gotten their heads out of their asses when it comes to PC games.
They really have, it seems. DMC4 on PC is such a great port. If SFIV turns out anything like it, it will be the best version. Plus it's only $40. :)
Man, I can't wait. We're basically guaranteed a great game, (presumably) good online play, and something that a lot of people are gonna be playing.
