ooo, I almost forgot about the SFIV stick coming out. I forget, is it one stick for multiple consoles (PC, 360, PS3) or is it specific. I'd think they could easily do multiple, since they all run USB. I hope so. I really need to learn stick (I'm decent to good on a d-pad, but get completely owned at an arcade :( )
cr.FP -> qcf+lk (I think) -> dp+P

Abel's dp (623) + P move is an aerial grab, not necessarily a good anti-air but can definitely be used in that combo.

also when doing the roll, the strength of your kick determines the distance, hence why I think it was LK.

you can EX roll as well, it's just real fast and has a real short recovery, I dont know how the distance compares tho
Nice. I'll have to try that next time I hit up SJSU for SFIV.

Also I know Rolento mentioned this game before, but I randomly bought Windy X Windam today at a local Japanese Electronics store.

They were closing up shop (going to online only sales in the area) so all accessories were 50%, all games were 40% and all consoles were 30%. I got Windy X Windam for $24 new and this Elecom PS3/USB converter for $8. Didn't know if there was lag or not for conversion but for $8 new I thought why not.

return it if you still can. windy x windam is a horrible, terrible game that's got poor hit detections, a rather dumb A.I., and super easy infinite juggles... just... stay away from it at all costs.

sounds awesome!
sounds awesome!
lol not really. i forgot the name of the character but the guy with the sword has the easiest infinite of all. just corner trap them, hit qcb + p or weak attack i think they call it... and if they try to air-recover, just crouch down and wait for 'em to get clsoe and jab. afterwards you just hold forward and jab away to continue the combo.

the combo meter maxes out at 99 hits. it's really a sad game for the ds. I would much rather play card fighters clash ds than this appalling game.
Which Elecom converter was it? I can help with info on it ;)
It's the silver Elecom JC-PS101USV.

How is it for just PS3 games? I don't use my PS3 to play any of my domestic/import PS2 stuff, so I'd just need it for T5DR and hopefully Battle Fantasia in the near future.

As for Windy X, I'll give it a shot before I make it trade fodder :)

Ahh, I have several 101s. Did they have the 201 by any chance? You'd be better off with one of those.

There is slight lag (anywhere between 2-5 frames; which is a LOT IMO)... it's more noticeable/consistent if using a digital only signal though.

When T5DR first came out, it was the first option out there, so a lot of Tekken players bought it. It wasn't until the 201 and Pelican came out that we found out how much it really lagged. It was because of this converter people started really attempting to do lag tests.

So is the 101 completely useless for fighting games?

I have one Pelican, I've just been looking for a cheap 2nd option for friends who I play against.

If it's for friends, then it's not useless for fighting games... "Lag, what lag? muahaha"

Man... all I've been listening to is old pac while at work. I found out that I'm less approachable as I listen to that because ppl think I'm crazy bumpin 'hit em up' hella loud lol.

mustache or no mustache, I'd give you your due propers wuth no fear.

I useta listen to hella Pac at my old job! My new one... definitely on my todo list

all Ive been listening to is japaneez music...
or the Fall of Troy (they're local, so I don't think a whole lot of people know them)
You'd be surprised. They had a track show up on GH3.

Also you'll find that type of music is extremely popular now. Equal Vision is quite the indie label it used to be. A lot of their bands have gone on to get signed by bigger indie labels or majors.

That's right, I forgot about that. When I saw that track on gh3 I was really confused, because there was like 40 people there when i saw them, but they were on one of the biggest games of the year!

Nice Gamefly sent me Battle Fantasia. Should be here Wednesday.

Whoever has it in the thread, we'll have to make battle. Did you get it yet Chac?

Word. I bought it today and I feel ashamed. I wanted to get it for PS3 (for my 'cade stick support), but I was thinking there would probably be more people playing it on XBL.

I even renewed my XBL membership to play this game online. Now I can't get my XBL to work even though I haven't changed a single thing since I was able to sign into my profile.

Definitely ashamed. Playing this game on 360 with no 'cade stick :(

You know live is down today right?
You know live is down today right?
Did not know that :)

It keeps saying my MTU Test failed. But as I mentioned I have still been sending message to friends on XBL as of late and haven't changed settings.

Here's hoping everything is fine once XBL goes back online. Thanks!
Naw, I didn't get BF yet. I'm waiting for MM's contest.
Haha, I am too.

Can you use a PS2 PCB for arcade sticks? I kind of broke the right stick off of my DS2 in a blind Yakuza rage, and figured if I can I'll order the parts and do a custom.

How hard is the wood working and such. Also, art, what's a good place to get it?

lol

Well buy it if you don't win, that's what I'm gonna do. In the mean time I rented it though, so like I said everyone get at me for some games.

I recall reading somewhere (from a link I found at arcadecontrols.com) that DS2 cannot be modded or is really hard to get it to work right. A PS1 controller is really easy though.

As for art work, find a template, find some high-res or vector artwork and practice with Photoshop or something. You can get it printed at Kinkos or somewhere like that.

The woodworking is fairly easy. If you aren't confident you can get your wood cut at places like Home Depot.

I played some BF. I seriously am just downright awful at it. The only character I liked was that rabbit with the hat. Those traps are pretty nice. Other than that, I didn't like BF too much.

I did the demo quite a bit, but I'm too new to the genre to know what's good or bad.

Haven't really spent any time with KoF 11 yet. I like it, but it's a lot different then Soul Calibur, so it will take some adjusting.

Got a couple bids on some sticks on the fleabay that I know I won't win. If those don't pan out I'm seriously going to consider the custom route, just trying to figure out if it would be best to do a from scratch thing or a mayflash mod.
nice! my pelican adapter on ebay jumped from $5 today to $35 :)
Nice!

I've got a bid for 40 on a tekken stick. No way I'm still gonna have it when it ends tomorrow, but the thought of getting it for 60 shipped is real nice.

something nice to hear from the link I posted:

What we're trying to do with Street Fighter IV is bring them (players) back in. There's not a whole lot of other fighting games out there to compare it to, but hopefully, if we play our cards right and get people back in to the genre, we can blossom the genre itself again and spread things out and get it back to the way it was.

I'll be honest and say this looks real nice for a PSP game:

I'm glad to see that Ono is trying to bring people back into fighting games with SFIV. What really caused the fall of the fighter genre to begin with? Was it some sort of a lack of innovation or did gamers just grow disinterested in the genre as a whole? I know Tekken was huge during the PS1 era and the Dreamcast was a fighting game fan's dream system thanks to DOA2 and the original Soul Calibur.

No arcades = no market for fighting games.

That's my theory. That and it got to a point where there were too many fighting games of middling quality and I think people got sick of trying to filter out the crap.

Also, consoles graphics got as good as the arcade. You didn't have to leave home for an arcade experience. Why keep dropping quarters just to see your favorite game get moved slowly to the back and finally sold off for parts when you can buy your favorite game and own it forever?

Oh, and Street Fighter IV is fuckin bananas. I still don't understand why they put Rufus in there but the game plays and looks like butta.
