Price Drop Confirmed & New PS3 Bundle in August: 80GB HD + Motorstorm = $600
It does not look fully colored in. Looks like someone took a red highlighter to it. Its not evenly distributed. That is why I am asking the question. Nothing of it in the press release about the 'RED' button.
there are only 3 Red rings of death instead the full 4, but you don't see anyone complaining about that.

Anyway, I fully agree- IT'S OVER. SONY IS FINISHED. THE COLOR IN THE BUTTON ISN'T FULLY DISTRIBUTED. THAT WAS THE LAST STRAW.
Well maybe rumble can be used on the older consoles with a firmware update.
Yeah but what I meant was if you buy the PS3 now, you'll eventually get an "obsolete" controller if they ever do include rumble so you are essentially wasting a controller. But if you wait until later, future PS3 consoles won't include the EE. But I guess it is a moot point since there is no confirmation of the Sixaxis ever including rumble.

If anything, I'd say that the glare is casing some parts to show up darker than others.

They'll probably make mention of the color change at E3, and hopefully it is indeed the rumble.

Seriously...

The only reason for me to purchase a PS3 was to have a fully distributed colored button on the Sixaxis... sony cant even get that right.

Thats the end.

Might as well do it before the Emotion Engine is removed.
Jack Tretton really needs to stop giving interviews. I kinda felt bad for him on CNBC. Apparently financial reporters are a bit more aggressive than gaming reporters.

Thats because it seems most gaming journalists are suckasses and depend on revenue from the people they are interviewing.

I'll admit I'm tempted to buy a 2nd PS3.

The interviewer seemed to think you were suppose to instantly make a profit from the get go, when in all reality, you lose money at first (Sony lost money with PS2 initially).

Someone needs to tell that to Nintendo, I guess.

does PS3 have as many problems the PS2 does

this is the 3rd system i had in the past 18 months that the games wont load up half the times. The disc wont even spin around every 5 times i turn it on.

PS3 is a pretty solidly built console. I haven't heard many stories of broken ones.
So... Are you guys happy with what we've been hearding pre-E3?

-60GB price drop.
-Limited Edition 80GB also coming to US.
-Rumored Rumble controller returning.
-HD/PSP Video download service in the works.
-E3 PSN Update
-Live Offical Blog postings during show

Also, did anyone link to Jack Tretton's interview about the price drop, 80GB PS3, and other issues? A lot of insights, go check it out!
the only concern I have of this moment is the controller issues.

no problems here
neither of the ps2's i have/had never had any problems either. My friend's 3rd or 4th gen ps2 has loading troubles though.

Not excited about that new PS3 bundle at all. I'd much prefer a 60GB w/emotion engine for $500 w/5 free blu-ray movies. I won't be able to bite until at least the holidays though, unless some miracle happens. :p

they'll probably take the EE out of 60gb systems too starting during the release of 80gb systems.

then, if software emulation sucks, people will probably have to pay a small premium on older 60gb systems in a few years.
Someone needs to tell that to Nintendo, I guess.
It's because Nintendo is basically using last gen hardware, then slapping together a new controller and game, then ass raping people with its $250 price tag.

It's the most solid PS console yet. Someone had their PS3 folding for 6 weeks straight. Some PS2 games load faster on PS3, and its nice getting rid of all memory cards with the PS3 HDD.

that's pretty bad when you consider what does and doesn't work and also consider that there's a model that plays all games perfectly.
that's pretty bad when you consider what does and doesn't work and also consider that there's a model that plays all games perfectly.
Well, 75% is still over half the games working. On 360, only around 25-30% of the games work, which is bad. With the massive catalog of games PS2 has, 75% isn't all that bad (Heck, that's probably more than all Xbox games combined).

Apparently Nintendo is pretty good at sodomy, as people prefer the Nintendo "ass raping" about 6 to 1 compared to Sony's PS3 handjob.

Sony, you tease!

Seriously, though, why all the fanboyism? I own all three systems, and think they're all great in their own way. Why do you feel the need to defend a multi-billion dollar company? If someone wants to bash it, who cares? It doesn't take away from your enjoyment.
I wonder if they will announce rumble support for ths Sixaxis at E3 (since I remember reading about Sony and Immersion reaching a deal). That would suck if you had to make a choice between getting the PS3 now with EE and no rumble, or getting a PS3 later with no EE and rumble.
Thats essentially the choice I'm making now. I only ever owned a PS2 for a couple months so I've got a ton of older games to try out. Rumble while important may be attainable through a firmware revision and a new controller.
and no rumble for 80GB either:

Couldn't find that info in the sea of posts there, but I did find it funny that the press release in the blog touts the 80GB bundle by saying that it "will include a free copy of MotorStorm".

So they really think the 20GB extra HD space and lack of EE is worth $100 - and a free Motorstorm is just tossed in as a bonus!

If you let it load to comment 268, he's a SCEA insider who says the red control thing is just what the debug unit's controller does when it is charged and that it is not an indication of a controller change for the 80GB.

The Mana Knight is the biggest fucking Sony fanboy I've seen on these boards. I wouldn't be surprised if he's actually receiving handjobs from Sony itself.

My local news channel just did a 1 minute story on the price cut. I loved how she said 'due to poor sales'. Good times.

Yeah, the question for me would be getting ahold of the current model before it gets phased out. I guess I don't mind holding on to my PS2 indefinitely, but I'd much rather get rid of it to save space and such, even though it is a slim PS2. :p

Edit: You know, if EB/GS did that old "Trade PS2 for $100 credit towards PS3" after the price drop, I'd be all over that deal, whether or not the wife blows a gasket! :D

I don't play for achievements. Just reading your past-posts and even your blog proves this. You defend Sony at each and every single tiny little fucking opportunity. Go back to GameFAQs already.

Oh and as for the PS3 in first place. I'm glad, I really wouldn't want to see a console fail miserably but ever notice how the Wii is constantly sold out?

That's just insane. If it was actually in stock...
I just wish Sony would keep the Emotion Engine until another AAA title comes out, like MGS 4 or something along those lines because I'm already on the fence, just need that extra push over.

Good. ;)
but ever notice how the Wii is constantly sold out?
It's because the Wii is all hype. I know many people who bought into the Wii hype, and never played it after getting sick of Wii Sports, and have no plans to buy more games for it. Wii is like iPod, to an extent.
That's just insane. If it was actually in stock...

They have to make cuts to lower the price and be successful.

I know it sounds crazy but do you think Sony is trying to appeal to the general public with the 80GB bundle?

I know when I worked video game retail one of the top questions I was asked was "Does it come with a game?". I know for that bundle you don't get to pick that game, but I'm sure parents who don't know much about games wouldn't care. For them it beats having (or going through) the actions of buying everything seperately.

I'm probably the only one who thinks this :)

I think Asiancore is right. I mean, although many who follow gaming knows it's a rip-off, but most casuals won't notice. Casuals like their console to come with a game, even if its a bad one. When I go out, many ask if a console comes with a game, and it seems like people rather not choose their game. Also, I see casuals think bigger HDD means better. I doubt many casuals know much about switching HDDs or not. When I told a casual PS3 can use any Serial ATA 2.5" HDD, and he thought they were hard to find.

Actually, that kinda makes sense.
Moms and dads I find always ask if it comes with a game.
Whenever the answer is no (which is all the time) I see them pick out a couple games.

I don't think I've ever bought a game, at that same time I bought a system.
I went gameless for a while on the PSX, PS2, PSP, GC, Wii, 360, etc.

To be fair the Wii is sold out at Amazon and only available through 'other sellers'. Does Amazon count those as sales? I have never seen the Wii actually for sale FROM Amazon in a long ass time.

It comes in stock from time to time, and sells out instantly.

If they didn't, every video game would be beating the Wii.

I'd hate to see Wii sales when they really increase production. (14 million units = 12 months :: 6 million units = 5 months)

I have to agree about the Wii. I have one and haven't played it in months, while I've been using the PS3 heaps. Thinking about actually getting rid of the Wii, it's just collecting dust.

And in this case, the pack-in game happens to be an excellent one. I'm hoping this means the developers have plans to extend Motorstorm awhile longer with new add-ons.
