I'm having a very odd problem.
For a while, I was using HDMI on my system with my HDTV. Then, I had the system and TV unplugged for a while as I had to use the power strip somewhere else.
Now that I've plugged everything back in, my PS3 and HDTV no longer work together via HDMI. I can use the old fashioned composite cables and it works fine, but if I try to run HDMI it's nothing but a blue screen.
I've got a Vizio HDTV and I hope that's not the problem.
I'm running the latest firmware. I've even tried the hold down the power button on startup function to reset the displays.
I've tried this with just the HDMI plugged in, then both the HDMI and composite cable. When I reset with both plugged in, the PS3 tells me (via the composite display) that it detects an HDMI display available and asks me if I want to use it. If I hit yes and switch to the HDMI input on my HDTV it just gives me the blue "no signal" screen.
When I boot up via HDMI only, I hear any sound either. Not sure what could be causing this, I have no way of testing if it's the TV itself.
I'm using a monoprice cable.
EDIT: Nevermind, fixed the problem. What worked was Restoring my system to default settings. I think the problem was in the HDMI handshake not being updated since I had completely powered down both the PS3 and HDTV. Then, when I fired them up again, one or the other device was still using an old HDMI handshake, whereas the other one had lost it and was waiting for a new connection. Restoring all settings to default probably reset the handshake code on the PS3, prompting it to request a new one with the HDTV. Not sure if there's a way to do this other than restoring everything to default though
