to 360CoreGaMer- No, you don't need to create a profile to play games with people in different regions.

ICantFeelMyFace- To my knowledge, the profile you create will display in the native language of that region.

by any chance is there a way i could change it to english?

I have a Japanese account. It displays everything in English, The dashboard and games. i even got a few trophies for my japanese psn account by accident. The Psn store however is displayed in japanese. It is easy to navigate though. Things you download from the Japanese psn store will be in Japanese usually but you can still play them.

Here's a question... can you use free downloadable content from a foreign store on a Region 1 game? I've got a North American release of Folklore, and tried to download the Japanese and European free Folks, but it doesn't seem to work.

alright i finally got a japanese account, so i went and downloaded the free littlebigplanet costume and when i went to my main account and started up the game it wasnt there, so here's another question if i download something from my japan account and switch to my main account will i be able to use the add on i got from the japan account?

Depends upon the game, as I'm guessing developers can make their DLC region-free or not. LBP's DLC is the same, so you can't use Japanese or European DLC with an NA version of the game, but I was able to download the extra skins for Piyotama from the Japanese store to play with my American copy of the game.

Yea- i was wrong there. I have a Japanese profile, and everything is english but the PSN store.

I just recently got a ps3 but im not really seeing any exclusives I been breifly going around googling and seeing if there is anything new coming out so far only games I want are :

Little Big Planet
MGS4

Where can I go to see what there version of the virtual channel/ xbla is like? Whats new etc

Is there any games im missing anything coming out that's exclusive?

I usually hate making threads like these and get the zomg go search etc I just want to learn info from people who actually play there ps3. Anyone have all three systems?

You need to set up a playstation network account and then you can go to the playstation store to download demos and xbla type games. I would also recommend checking out Resistance 2 and Uncharted. Uncharted has a demo on the store so you can try it for free. I have all three systems.

I'm a new ps3 owner too, there are definitely some good exclusives
I agree with what bballplaya210 said, check out psn and the demo section

a great online war game is Warhawk, a bit older but still very fun and an active community of players

I've got all three systems also

lately I've been playing my PS3 more than the 360 and my wii hardly gets turned on in fact it's not even hooked up lol

I've encountered one issue with PSP demos at least. This has only happened once but I downloaded a PSP demo off of the Japanese PSN and it wouldn't let me install it to my PSP unless I registered it with that screenname.
I couldn't load that free PS3 game with the cats. It downloaded and installed fine, but it hangs on one of the warning screens.
me too on my MGS 80 gig

Same here. I play my PS3 the most and the last wii game I got was Mario Galaxy about a year ago.

For exclusives, it depends on your taste; I'll list a few:

1. Uncharted: Drake's Fortune - 3rd Person Action Shooter - I highly recommend this one. Smooth animation, excellent graphics and gameplay, a good story, and plenty of unlockables to play around with if you enjoy those things. It's currently my favorite game of this console generation.

2. Lair - This is a flight action game. If you enjoy games like this (Rogue Squadron, Star Fox, etc.), it's worth a try.

3. Heavenly Sword - Action - This one is really short, but really fun. Lots of flashy combos and special techniques, as well as an enjoyable story with great graphics and voice acting. It's certainly worth a playthrough, but once you beat it, there isn't much left to do except play it on a harder difficulty.

4. Folklore - Action RPG - I haven't gotten too far in this one, but so far it's an enjoyable (yet linear) action RPG. Reminds me of the Lost Kingdoms series for the Gamecube.

5. Disgaea 3 - Strategy RPG - I haven't played this at all, but it received good reviews.

6. Resistance: Fall of Man - FPS - This game is fairly good with an interesting style of graphics; I don't care for it too much, though, to be fair, I'm not really impressed with any of this generation's FPS contributions (unless you count the Orange Box)

7. Resistance 2 - FPS - A sequel to the previous game. I haven't played it.

Edit: Forgot a couple.

8. Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction - Action platformer - This one is really fun. Gameplay-wise, it's got excellent controls with a good variety of weapons to unleash on your enemies. The graphics are vibrant and colorful, with a lot going on the background, and it has a good amount of unlockable content to play around with.

9. Ninja Gaiden: Sigma - Action - This one barely counts as an exclusive. It's another remake of the Ninja Gaiden game from the original Xbox. It has an amazing combat system, but an irritating camera and quite a few cheap fights on the harder difficulties (which you unlock one by one for completing the game). If you enjoy a challenge, this is a good choice.

Have you played it since they patched it or are you going off of reviews? It was vastly improved once they tweaked the control scheme.

well, i might be out on a limb here. but i think you like megaman. you can buy mm9? off psn. great suggestions so far on uncharted, lbp, and resistance. but what type of games/genres do you like? and you can check out metal gear 4. it pushed through 4 million? considering that it sold only to ps3's (vs 10 million? for cod4 on multiplatform). i have a fuzzy memory on numbers.

I got mm9 on my 360 so im not gonna buy it for the other two systems. I got LBP so far and its a pretty cool game I'm going through the story now. I think I want to get ridge racer and mgs4 next. I just wished the ps3 had some more exlusives its a pretty cool system so far.

Whats up with the slow wifi in the ps3? It took almost 2 hours just to get to 25% on the firmware update I just went on my pc and put it on a cd. It's taking forever to download my lbp update

nah it wasn't to bad. control before patch was a little eh but I still enjoyed the story and the game overall.

My ps3 and 360 and wii are in the same spot no problems what so ever ps3 is the only one that has speed issues I got a Belkin Wireles N1 router. Any ideas? I never had a wifi problem with speed before and my signal is 95%

What other cool stuff can i do with my ps3? I just found out i can add themes to it is there anything else? Anyone got any word on how to make my wifi a bit faster?
No one has Mentioned Valkyria Chronicles! Best exclusive so far, in my opinion.
Great choice. This is the best rpg/srpg out thus far. I don't see anything in the near future that's going to top this. This is one hell of a fluke for sega though.

dont bring up the game that we dare not mention again.

I think I'm a bit lost, could someone give a bit more detailed answer, If I own a US Region PS3 & games, for example LBP, Can I download the free content from other regions? and if so how do I go about doing it? thx

To be honest, I think the Playstation servers are just slow. They are fine for gameplay, but for downloads, they are pure shit. I have my PS3 hooked up right next to my computer via ethernet, and it's still ridiculously slow. This Uncharted demo is going to take at least 15 minutes to download.

I think Sony cheaped out on their servers because PSN is free (and possibly because their PS3 profits are in the dumps)

I have the same problem also. I have my router sitting right next to my PS3 and downloads take forever. I still don't get why you have to install the game after you've downloaded it either.

Other than that, I love my PS3. Uncharted, Resistance, Ratchet, Motorstorm, and Ninja Gaiden are all great games. Don't forget to check out Calling All Cars, flOw, Super Stardust, Tekken 5: DR, and Blast Factor for some fun PSN games.

Oh, don't even get me started on installs. It took me like 30 minutes to actually start playing (excuse me, watching) MGS4

Some content can be downloaded from other regions and used on any PS3. Some of the content is "region locked". In the case of LittleBigPlanet, only DLC from the US will work with US copies of the game.

It's probably safe to assume that DLC for other games will work this way as well. Accessing the PSN for other regions is really only used to download demos, videos or themes that might not be released in your region.

pick up Unreal Tournament 3 - its about 16.99 @ target, and some other stores, good online game, and you can get all sorts of mods from ut3mods.com

I think I'm going to be buying an HDTV this weekend finally. Could some point me in the direction of some good, cheap HDMI cables? Will any HDMI cables work, or are there PS3-specific ones? Thanks.
Go to monoprice.com for cheap HDMI cables.
Please also refer to second question. ;)

Monoprice has like 20 different kinds, and I have no idea what the difference is.
My PS3 is loud, like way louder than my xbox. Is this normal?
No, my ps3 does not make any noise or at least if it does I never noticed it. Well there are some beeps when it turns on but that is about it.

When mine first turns on the fan ramps up briefly and then slows down. During the summer in the middle of a game it would sometimes speed up or down, and Folding during the summer sometimes got pretty loud.

At it's worst though it was a bit better than my 360 (when running a disc based game), and usually a lot better. Right now when it's cooler, my PS3 is much quieter when running a game than the 360 is just sitting at its dash.

A question-are your systems enclosed at all? They shouldn't be, and the PS3's thermal controlled fan could be super loud to try to expel heat if it's locked in somewhere.

I'm going to try and find a new arrangement for it today. It was loud from the moment I cut it on for the first time.

I'm going to post a video to clarify this later, but does anyone know what this problem could be? I'm copying this from a PM, so it may sound funny:

Whenever I try to go in and out of the menus, games, and such, the controller is reading/isn't responsive. Let me give you an example:

I just played the Motorstorm demo. I wanted to stop playing, so I hit the PS button on the controller. It takes me to the screen to where I can select Quit Motorstorm, but I can't move anything. I have to hold down the PS button again until I get to black screen that has all the options available (turn off controller, turn off system, etc) to quit the game.

Here's another example: I open up the internet browser. When it opens I can't move the cursor. I hold down the PS button until I get the black screen, hit circle to get out of that, now I can move it in the browser.

It's really weird. Is it just a desyncing problem?

Ok I want to try to stay to exclusive games but ill make some exceptions depending on what type of game it is I dont' want any shooters like UT and Resistance. Thanks for the info so far though guys. I just used my second elite's HDMI cord for my ps3 I was so thank full I didnt have to buy one makes the system look alot better imo
