PSN has returned. What freebie games are you getting?

Going to cancel my current card because my new one is on the way....with my face on it!!!Has my picture and I only need 1 debit card so I might as well cancel the one that was on PSN.

Looks like the EU PSN members got some more information about their welcome back program: "our Welcome Back programme, including which free content you will be eligible for. We will be offering PSN users the opportunity to select two PS3 games from a list of five, as well as offering PSP users the opportunity to choose two games from a list of four. We will let you know exactly what games are available very soon." http://blog.eu.playstation.com/

Looking forward to more details for the US program.

Interesting - this is definitely the way to handle it vs. just giving everyone one single game that a large chunk of users might already have. We'll see how that goes here...

If they're full PS3 games I'd rather have the disk for space reason.

Though I assume they mean PSN games

Obviously the free games would be PSN games. I'm hoping for Costume Quest, Pacman Championship DX, Hard Corps Uprising, any of the Deathspanks, or Marvel Pinball would be cool too...

Or really just something decent that I don't already own...

Hard Corps would be awesome, so would Costume Quest, but im betting its only gonna be big stuff from Sony themself.

Also, Sony REALLY should do some sort of store wide discount on EVERYTHING (And cover the difference to the developers). Seeing as people got screwed out of weeks of buying stuff on PSN, and dev's got screwed out of sales.

If the US gets five choices as well and they really do mean "ps3" games and not PSN games I am going to guess it will be MAG, Wipeout HD, LittleBigPlanet 1, Modnation Racers, and Warhawk. All are published by Sony, all are fairly old, and all feature varying amounts of paid DLC.
I wouldn't mind Fat Princess or Spyro honestly. Anyway, boy did Sony piss off the wrong people. Evidently/Supposedly/Allegedly there was a 3rd or 4th attack again - one that wasn't necessarily reported and the fact that some groups are saying they still have database access/etc.

Oh goody, I turn my PS3 back into a computer :D;)
Jesus, Sony is getting effed in the a.

Wonder if this will teach other consoles not to piss off Hackers/Pirates.

Either way, Sony kind of deserved it. I stopped liking them after the PSP GO fiasco.

I am hoping for a disk based game of my choice.(been wanting Trinity Z'ill or the new Dynasty Warriors). But ,much likedg said we will probably get some crappy PSN games I either already own or do not want. I would honestly be happy to just get the network back and be able to play some games online again.

Funny today I went into gamestop and the guy at the counter was trying to get me and my wife to sign up for some Class action lawsuit he was in. "They were promising 200-500 all you need to do is put in a CC number you want it on" I tried pretty hard from laughing at the dude but I couldn't help laughing on the way out.

I'd assume PSN games, but they could certainly include both PSN and PS3 (ie, originally disc-based) downloads. I'd prefer the PSN games myself as I have pretty much every PS3 game I'd want (including LBP, Warhawk, ModNation, MAG). I also have a lot of PSN games too though of course. Chances are there will be only 1 thing on the list I don't already have ;).

Now, the PSP games would be nice as I've never downloaded any full games for that. I wonder if you had to have linked your PSP to PSN to qualify for that? I've always meant to do that, and in fact have downloaded some free PSP DLC to my PS3, but I've never bothered transfering it over.

Lolwat. Gamestop has really declined in thier employee's lately.

And yeah, i think you have to link the PSP to the system. It counts as a PSP Activation.

I'd take Mod Nation and Warhawk.

I can see a viable use in what some hackers do but screw the pirates. How exactly did Sony deserve this again? How exactly do WE deserve this. This goes way beyond attacking Sony. They friggin attacked us as well.

id be up for the actual disk as well but since i have 2 foreign accounts id be sol if that were the case not to mention its easier for sony to just have you dl them off of psn. guess only time will tell btw does anyone know if mod nation racers is available to dl on psn? if so id hope that would be one of the choices.

Agreed. Once that asshat (Geohot) hacked the PS3 and then globally posted to the whole world how to do it, what were they supposed to do? Just tell him "wow good job?" Of course they had to defend their console against piracy at that point and try to make an example.

Well personally, i was always hoping they'd get a pretty big bite in the ass over the PSP GO failure. (And how badly those customers got shafted, especially U.S owners).

Removing Linux was a pretty big screwover too, i remember even hearing about companies/millitary bases that were using PS3's because of the linux feature.

As far as attacking the consumers go, i admit that was pretty screwed up, and i hope they get caught and punished.

As far as thier consoles getting hacked, they did make it pretty easy

PS4 will probably have Linux support. Sony will say internally it's more trouble than it's worth and just put it back in.

It's just a waiting game at this point. If it came back today it'd be up around 11pm. That way the servers wouldn't crash immediately.

Possibly, I'm not sure.

yes ps3 version is on psn and gameshareable.
I guess I don't understand your PSP GO comment. What does that have to do with any of this and how did it shaft customers? I ask because I have never owned a PSP and honestly have no clue what the problem with it was.
Basically...

A. Some PSP games released late as hell compared to the actual retail version.

B. Some PSP games NEVER ended up on PSN at all

C. Most of the PSP games there were on PSN before PSP came out were massively overpriced, and never got discounted.

And D. Quite a few new PSP games never released on PSN due to unknown reasons. (Like Kingdom Hearts:BBS, and Dragon Ball Z)

As far as pirating goes, i can agree that it is definately bad for the Companies/Developers. But at the same time, being able to play the PSP games that i own the UMD's for on my PSP GO is a very awesome ability. (Which Sony was too greedy to ever consider adding)

I hope they're NOT downloadable titles, since it'll take till 2012 for me to finish downloading them on my shitty connection.

I really don't care if we get anything at all, as long as the network is back up and it's more stable/secure. Once they work on getting the network back up and what not, then maybe their NEXT firmware can focus on making it so the XMB doesn't take so long to load in while you're in a game.:applause:

People actually buy the overpriced shit from the Playstation Store? Since when? Unless they discounted everything to $5, the shit would still be too overpriced for my liking.:booty:

I forget. What exactly did GeoHot do again? Showed people how to load up games on their HDD to make them run faster and not wear out the Blu-Ray drive, right? Either way, Sony's own tagline for their system(It Only Does Everything) is wayyyyyyy off the mark, especially with the functionality they've already removed since it launched(Linux, PS2 BC, flash memory card slots, etc).

The system is an overglorified computer(as are all consoles) and I see no harm in wanting to play old school games off the HDD and/or save the BR laser by loading up games onto it as well.

Well, i dont buy PSN games that often (I usually share, unless it was something i had been looking forward to for ages).

Though i still buy DLC, and some Exclusive PSN stuff. (Was planning to buy Arcana Heart 3 before PSN crashed)

I would be thrilled with the ability to load up games I play a lot to the HDD like on that other system.

If you can wait till June, there's a disc version coming out for around $30 US. Zavvi.com(UK site) has it up for pre-order now.

Unfortunately, the way in which the console had to be altered resulted in many people being banned from PSN for giving their own console that ability, since Sony obviously believed that if you were doing that you were loading up the games onto the HDD and then selling/trading the physical copies of the games you owned. Some were most likely doing exactly that, but if I were to do it then I would keep the discs in the event the file(s) became corrupted.

However, MANY PS3 games are rather large in size and you'd need a HUGE HDD to do this with.

Ah, thats pretty cool. Though, im still more of a digital guy (Atleast on PS3). Especially since i can share the PSN version with friends.

Just got a fraudulent charge on my Visa. Luckily I didn't have the money and it just got declined. Guy was trying to buy 5000 Microsoft Points.

So im guessing that means the PSN wont be up this weekend either?

Not necessarily. PSN isn't tied into the DC Universe servers.
