why do some people have to have their password reset through email? my password is set to "remember password" so would i have to have it reset through email?
PSN accounts that have never downloaded any content are forced to change their passwords via email.
I'm having this problem for some of my alts. What sucks more is that my domain name which those emails are tied to expired at the end of April and I never renewed it so those alts are now lost (unless I buy it again)! Damn you Sony, why couldn't you just do as you originally said and just let EVERY account change via console...
Yay. It is almost back here................+-8 hours I would guess. Left and Right coasts screw you both .
impatient edit 1: 11:42 CST still "Undergoing maintenance"
second impatient edit : 11:58 CST still no dice.
Hey - I'm on the Left Coast (not too far from the ocean in fact) and being skipped so far. The West Coast ain't all California you know .
At this point they should get the rest of the Western states back up as we still have some Saturday left. You people out in the East (and by "East" I mean east of the Rockies which counts as East Coast in my eyes ) should be sleeping anyway.
Since the old server was in Southern California, I'm guessing the new server is still somewhere in California which is why we're the only state in the west that's active
TN should be at the top of the hour..
Even so I am pretty tired, doubt I'd be able to handle UC2 right now. Think I'll just watch tonight's episode of FMA: BH and Bleach and call it a night.

Server location doesn't really make any sense to me - what does it matter where the server is? HOWEVER, with CA having the most population it makes sense to get it back up fairly quickly to get a lot of people on board at once.
I don't actually get why it is state-by-state at all, really, though. Are our account separated in some way by state? Seems odd... I'd think maybe regions, but not states...
io............more than likely that map is a very broad generalization and it (the PSN re-integration) isn't actually state by state. But it is easier for them to show the masses their progress in that manner.
So are we having to wait until Tuesday for our consolation prizes?
No, it'll be until whenever the store is up, which will be sometime after everything else is up.

They're limiting the amount of people that can get on at a time so that the servers aren't destroyed by millions of people getting on at the same time.

I don't really think population had anything to do with it, especially since they started from the north east, including Maine, which I doubt has a bigger population than say Texas. Since Sony corp is located in California, maybe they wanted to continue testing it or give their employees a break or something. Then start with the east coast first since they're 3 hours ahead. Perhaps their timeline was to get east coast, mid west, and west all up by midnight (their local time)?

I would say they're most likely doing it state by state so that their systems don't get overloaded by people flooding back onto the network all at once. Imagine the horror and frustration if they had turned every country/region back on at once and the system went kablooie from the strain? What then? Another 3 week outage while they repair the damage from the people stampeding over one another digitally to get back online?
That would NOT be good PR at all for them, not that this 3 week outage has been any good either.

That is an interesting idea..............anyone think another company/ies have/do use this tactic?
So far Rock Band multiplayer is the only multiplayer I'm seeing as inactive. Is anyone having any problems connecting to multiplayer with any other games?
I was able to update my firmware..............I still get the "Undergoing Maintenance" notification when I try to log into PSN however.
It's what happened to the PS Blog. When the posts about it going back up tonight went live, the blog crashed because of the huge increase in traffic for minutes at a time.

Why is it buffering so slowly?
Ask your "provider".................
You get the error screen when trying to download the update? Turn off media server connection in network settings. I kept getting the 80710723 error when trying to download it until I did that.

I really hope this turns out to be the case or I'm going to lose a bunch of Yen on my Japanese account. Yeah, I probably should've made a Japanese yahoo account to legitimately link to my Japanese PSN account but I certainly didn't anticipate this happening. Thus far I've been unable to create a yahoo.co.jp account that matches the one on my Japanese PSN account. I'm not sure if I'm filling in some blanks incorrectly (yeah it's babelfished) or if someone else is actually using my would-be name. Oh well, I have downloaded/used the account frequently so here's hoping I don't have to jump through the email password shenanigans.
Im hoping NV comes online soon
Yay a fellow Nevada CAG haha when I saw California up I just stared as the East Coast and California were up. Although I am glad Nevada went up soon after.
for those of you with accounts that you never dled or bought things with did you receive the password change email that sony was supposed to send?
check your spam. the one i got for an Australian account was in it but it did take 3 1/2 hours for it to show up.
Hopefully the store is up sometime this week!
I am thinking it will be the last thing going up due to the CC information being in it and because of the "Welcome Back" package they will offer. Hopefully it is before the 31st, though.
