PSN has returned. What freebie games are you getting?
We already had a thread for this here, but I guess it got moved to the free stuff forum.
Ya but this thread title is a lot more informative. I thought the last one was our daily spam message at first.

I would suggest making this a sticky or else we will have a few of these a day from now till 30 days after the thing goes live.
Thanks again Sony for giving nothing of value for customers who have shitty connections and prefer to physically own the games they have.
You can physically own them. Go to a store and buy them. It's not like they are forcing you to take the free downloaded games. :joystick:
I second this, especially since ALL of the titles are most likely digital download only. Otherwise that page detailing the Welcome Back program for the US would've said to make sure your information on your PSN account is up to date, like it did for the Playstation Rewards program t-shirt that was a size too small for my liking.

I get the feeling that getting a better ISP would solve all of your problems in life.

Hmmm. So for the psp games can we download them through media go or a ps3 registered with the psp or do they have to be downloaded directly on the psp?

d33jays is trolling. Metal Gear Solid 4, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Secret Agent Clank, nor Valkyria Chronicles II is being offered as free titles. Additionally his list has combined titles which only certain regions are getting into one list making it seem like the US gets a choice of all those.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011...stomer-appreciation-program-in-north-america/

All PlayStation Network customers can select two PS3 games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

 • Dead Nation
 • inFAMOUS
 • LittleBigPlanet
 • Super Stardust HD
 • Wipeout HD + Fury
For PSP owners, you will be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

 • LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
 • ModNation Racers
 • Pursuit Force
 • Killzone Liberation

 • A selection of “On Us” rental movie titles will be available to PlayStation Network customers over one weekend, where Video Service is available. Those titles will be announced soon.
 • 30 days free PlayStation Plus membership for non PlayStation Plus subscribers.
 • Existing PlayStation Plus subscribers will receive an additional 60 days of free subscription.
 • Existing Music Unlimited Premium Trial subscription members will receive an additional 30 days of free premium subscription.
 • Additional 30 days + time lost for existing members of Music Unlimited Premium/Basic subscription free of charge for existing Premium/Basic members.
 • To welcome users Home, PlayStation Home will be offering 100 free virtual items. Additional free content will be released soon, including the next addition to the Home Mansion personal space, and Ooblag’s Alien Casino, an exclusive game.

My main question is, where does that leave someone like me that already owns ALL of those games? Considering this is CAG I would imagine I'm not the only person here in that same boat.

Sorry if this has been gone over already, but is anyone else having trouble receiving their email to change their password? I've waited the 24 hours that they've said and have yet to receive anything. I've tried with 2 different accounts on my ps3 and have received an email from neither...

I noticed that too and wondered why those were in his list...

I'm confused. I only saw these games mentioned on the US psn blog for North America:

ps3:
Dead Nation
inFAMOUS
LittleBigPlanet
Super Stardust HD
Wipeout HD + Fury

psp:
LittleBigPlanet (PSP)
ModNation Racers
Pursuit Force
Killzone Liberation

That's why I wikified the post because I know that I might miss something or someone may want to add something.

Not sure where you got Metal Gear Solid 4, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Secret Agent Clank, nor Valkyria Chronicles II. Maybe you can point me to them?

and yeah, lol.... i didn't know that I just became a troll ... i love the movie troll 2 though ....

I never got an email yet, but I changed my password from my PS3. The thing is, it wasn't from the system I created my account on (I have more than one PS3) and it worked anyway. If you haven't tried from the PS3, I would suggest you do that first.

I'm up for DeadNation, have wanted to buy it for a while now. But I'm not sure if I want SSHD or Wipeout. I'm leanihng to SSHD since I loved the demo, but it's pretty much just another shmup without the zombies, right? Maybe Wireout is the better choice. decisions decisions...

I hope I get the PSP games also, although I never made a separate account for it, I just use my PSN account. I kinda doubt that counts as a separate PSP account.

I'm glad Sony is offering up a decent deal here, but I am indeed a little bummed by the selection. I just bought Dead Nation when it was on sale and I've already beaten and traded in Infamous and LBP. I don't have much interest in the style of games that are SSD or WHD.

Oh well, those are decent games if you don't own them already...

Looks like your thread was merged with this thread. If as you say your old thread was wikified, someone else changed your post to add in those games...when the merge occurred, the post was no longer wikified, and it looked like you made that claim...hence why you looked like a troll.

See post #3050 on Page 153, that's where you mentioned MGS4 and those other extra games...

Except that I've already owned both LBP(multiple times) and inFamous and those are the only two I'd even half consider. If they really wanted to say 'sorry for us being a bunch of fuckin' idiots and leaving your info out there in cyberspace for hackers to steal' they would pay for a real copy of a single newer release title and not shit that costs them next to nothing to give out as a file on your PS3.

Don't get me wrong, they don't have to give out ANYTHING, so it IS a nice gesture. But offering up physical copies of games made by in house developers owned by Sony would've given PSN users a bit more selection even though it may have added a bit of cost to produce/ship the copies of games on physical discs.

Don't tell me they couldn't do it either. Look at THQ, they sent people copies of Red Faction Guerrilla for buying the first run of Darksiders. Albeit that promo took FOREVER to get straightened out, but they gave out a $20 game in a physical format for buying another game.
I get the feeling that getting a better ISP would solve all of your problems in life.
Sure thing. You pay any amount that's over the $20 a month I paid for my current internet and we'll be good then.;):booty: Anything over $20 a month for internet access is a complete ripoff to me, since the only things I do on it are surf the net and get on PSN.

lol, I just realized what happened. No, Metal Gear Solid 4, Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, Secret Agent Clank, nor Valkyria Chronicles II are not part of the welcome back program. Maybe that's what I get for making the post editable by anyone, someone else have added those games on the list (i.e. not me).

May the person entered that wrong information be turned into green goo and be eaten by vegetarian goblins ...

Sorry if that post confused people, I'm going to edit that out.

Why offer physical copies when the breach wasn't physical by nature? Downloadable copy = physical copy. You're just looking for things to complain about. You're CONSIDERING what free games to pick? Ridiculous. Pick two that you don't have and play. If you don't like it, delete. That's exactly what I'm doing (Dead Nation and Super Stardust HD), although I don't have the extremely high expectations  you have from free games being offered.

This is exactly what happened. When Buuhan1 pointed out my post it did seem that I posted that misinformation. Thanks for looking out.
Seems that way. Sorry for the accusation, d33jays.
No prob dude, its all good. I edited out that post again and removed that bogus info. I wouldn't want it to confuse more people.

Dammit, that's no better for me since I have all but Valkyria (and know nothing about it). Perhaps that's what I get for buying too much, not that I regret it since I prefer physical copies. Why couldn't they offer PSN content instead of converted retail games?

I have had my acct for long time but have been holding off getting a new ps3 till after e3, maybe even till holiday bundles. What do you all think are the chances could log into my psn acct via a friends ps3 and just add the 2 free games to download queue?

were lucky they even chose those games as free stuff they could have easily done something less. you got 2 choices get better internet and enjoy what they give you or dont and use what youve got and hopefully youll be able to enjoy your free games by the time they release the ps4.

hmm i had NO IDEA sony offered a digital copy to an actual game. so basically for example, a digital download of infamous is pretty much the same thing as you would buy it on physical disk? that must be a lot of GB.

here's to being out of the loop and not checking my ps3...

I posted in two similar threads and they seem to have been deleted or don't appear anymore for me.

I'm still leaning towards getting Wipeout+Fury and Super Stardust HD on PS3 since I can get inFamous for $10-$15. On PSP, Modnation and Pursuit Force since I already have Killzone Liberation on UMD.

Kind of wish I had signed up for PSN+ right before the meltdown.
well infamous is going to amazon
I'm pretty sure these are going to be downloadable only and thus impossible to resell...
If the US gets five choices as well and they really do mean "ps3" games and not PSN games I am going to guess it will be MAG, Wipeout HD, LittleBigPlanet 1, Modnation Racers, and Warhawk. All are published by Sony, all are fairly old, and all feature varying amounts of paid DLC.
Got 2 out of 5 correct, now to decide which 4 to get (have 2 PS3s). Already beat and traded in Infamous so I'll probably go for the other 4, though I didn't really like the wipeout HD demo...

But all of PSN's users personal info was exposed and people are reporting fraudulent use of their credit card info that was captured by the breach. That should be worth more than a file that costs them likely nothing to give out.

Besides which, what would it really cost Sony to give out some first or second party stuff like God Of War 3 in a physical format?

A downloadable copy of a game is NOT a physical copy to me. Maybe for some, but definitely NOT for me.

Like I said before, more than $20 a month for internet is a fuckin' ripoff. If I had it my way I'd just grab one of the wireless signals floating around in the air and use that for free instead of even paying the $20.

But if you wanna pay the additional $10-20+ per month FOR me, then I'll upgrade. Otherwise I'm content.

What is it with people being up other's asses for critiquing this freebie giveaway from Sony? I only said that I don't like that it's digital copies only and I wish it could be on a physical format. I doubt I'll ever use this promo at all since it is dd only. It's my choice. But to voice a dissenting opinion and then get ripped apart in multiple responses over having a differing opinion is just ridiculous.

Knew I shouldnt have picked up Infamous when BB had it on sale a week ago.

I'll probably pick Dead Nation and Wipe Out for PS3 and LBP and Modnation Racer for PSP.
I don't have a PSP yet but wanted to get one. Is there a way to d/l the PSP games without one or will I need to pick one up?
As long as you have a PSN account made before the outage, it should work from your PS3. Whenever you get a PSP, you can just download from your PSN account.

Sweet thanks for the info, I've never bought a PSP game from the PSN store but I do have a PSN account from before the outage.

Looking forward to some free games :)

if youre so content then stop whining already. sony isnt stopping you from dling the games its just for you its going to take longer. and if you get cable internet you get fast internet and basic cable which is a great deal.

imo fast internet is worth paying for especially when you consider how many things can be digitally accessed/bought/downloaded for free or very cheap.

I am getting LBP for the PS3. Which other game do you guys recommend (keep in mind I like all genre's of games, and I own infamous)?

Also Killzone liberation or Pursuit force for my 2nd free PSP game?

Well, Wipeout came with PS+, so that's a fail...

I guess I'll get Super StarDust for PS3 and ModNation Racers for PSP (if I can get it - not sure how you qualify for the PSP downloads - I think I've used my PSP once since they added downloadable titles for PSP).

Can't come up with a second choice for either since I either have or don't want the others. I guess I can get Infamous and LBP and just sell the discs for those (though I'd imagine they will get pretty worthless after this ;)).

I watch all of maybe 2-3 shows anymore IF I even remember they're on. Otherwise cable tv is a waste of money to me. Cable internet is $30-45+ a month here and even more if you don't have cable tv service through Comcrap. Internet access is NOT worth $30-45+ a month to me. Period.

As for the accessing/buying/downloading stuff for free or very cheap, get rid of the very cheap option if we're talking about digital copies of junk. Unless I own something in a physical format there is NO value to a downloaded file on my pc/PS3 to me.

We can go in circles on this all day, but my opinion is never gonna change. This promo is crap to me and the fact that they can likely press BR games for $2-3 now and send them out bulk rate means they could still do the right thing(for me) and send out physical copies of some games. Hell. They could've just forgone sending me that shrinky dink of a t-shirt from the PS Rewards program and shipped the game(s) in that envelope, since I'll likely never wear that shirt. If anything, that's going on eBay and I'll use the proceeds from its sale to buy a game I want.
