PSN Network Error
No, it's going to fix itself today. Sony's just waiting for the problem to go away, which will start happening around 12:00 GMT tonight. You might see them fix it in the next PS3 update.
I know the difference between PST and EST. Far as the time is concerned. GMT? Seriously? Why couldn't you have posted PST or EST for us stupid and lazy people that don't want to look up the time differences. I'm not sure, but I think GMT is 5 hours ahead of EST. Unless I did something wrong. I couldn't find out much info on that one.

and........ mine worked. Without a hitch. Date says 3/1, and everything is fine. I even took a video of it, which I'll post on YouTube in a minute.
So GMT is 5 hours behind EST or did I have it right? I figured it was 5 hours from what I found.
You had it right. My reading comprehension appears linked to PS3 functionality.

Tried mine and it still didn't work. Glad someones did. The time on mine stopped completely.

I am antsy as crap to get home so I can be there when it fixes my daughter texted me that it still isn't working for our 60gb either.

Is the clock on it running or did it stop completely?

I've been watching netflix and personal videos on my 80 gig mgs4 bundle ps3 but you guys are saying games don't work? Why the hell would a psn error make it so I can't play single player games? I really don't care about trophies at all but I doubt this psn error is going to affect anything on the 640 gig harddrive that i put in late last year. This is just great, I run into an influx of cheaters for 2 days and then the next 2 i can't even sign onto psn.

So, in the midst of this outage I went through my PS3 and cleaned some stuff up. It appears I have a crap load of corrupted themes, anyone else have this issue? Not sure at all if it's connected to the clock error or somehow I've had these for a while...

Gonna wait to see if it fixes itself when the clock issue is resolved, but I may just delete them all and go into recovery mode to restore corrupt data.

Most of my DLC is corrupt now. I'm waiting to see if this bug automatically fixes those or not.

I love the internet.

Well, my video messed up, but I finally got it to record correctly; so made a new one, and it's processing right now. It's an HD video, so it might take a bit longer than usual.

Everything seems to be working fine on my side, though. Oddly.

You know what. I may be wrong, but instead of 12gmt fixing. If yours did. Maybe its just 24 hours after your ps3 did whatever time it happened. So in other words everyone will be fine 24 hours after they first noticed it or when it first happened. If not then the 12gmt time will. Although since yours worked magically. It makes me think that it might be the way I mentioned.

I actually didn't turn on my PS3 yesterday, so that could also be it. I was waiting for it to "officially" turn to 3/1 before I wanted to attempt it, just to keep it safe. Anyone that hasn't turned theirs on yet, I'd say try it out.. it's possible that if you skipped 2/28 all together, then you might be safe.
So is it safe to turn on our fat PS3s again? Sounds like some of you already have...
I just don't give a shit about Sony telling me not to use my system... The thing is crippled anyways, and trophies are dead so there's really no point in playing games but nothing's stopping me from enjoying my anime and movies.

its been over 24 hours for me, probably pretty close to 32 now.

What model fat do you have as it seems some of the newest 80's and the 160gb's weren't affected at all. (My 160gb has had no issues at all I used it all yesterday and its still fine today)

I have a 20 gb ps3 and i've been getting the "An error has occured. You have been signed out of Playstation Network (8001050F)" for roughly 2 weeks or so. I would always be able to log right back in. Not sure if the two are related.
So is it safe to turn on our fat PS3s again? Sounds like some of you already have...
Nope. Mine still says "12/31 6:23" and gives me the error the second I log in. I was watching a Blu Ray when I noticed this happen yesterday. I haven't touched any games though. If any of my saves are corrupted, I'm going to be royally pissed off.

Also, thank God nobody at Sony was responsible for working on anything Y2K related. We'd all be living in caves right now.

Oh, so that's why the clock is messed up?!?! I remembered last night after watching a movie, the clock gone bad, i tried to fix it via the internet and that's when i found out i couldn't get onto PSN.

I have to check this again when i get back home. BUT BUT BUT this doesn't make any sense! I wasn't even on-line last night, so how the hell the clock got messed up? HOW?
BUT BUT BUT this doesn't make any sense! I wasn't even on-line last night, so how the hell the clock got messed up? HOW?
Because it's a hardware issue and completely unrelated to PSN?

An internal CPU that is always on... has nothing to do with PSN or if your system was on.

It's CECHL01
So there not sure If some people will lose trophies or not? That's what one part said. If I lose anything like that or game data... That's gonna suck major ass...
apparantly anything you didnt sync before the crash could be a risk. i wasnt even aware that syncing was that important. im pretty sure i checked a buddies trophies saturday or sunday morning, so it synced then, but this is just a headache.

Heard about this on another forum, I'm glad I haven't turned my ps3 on since this happened. I'll just wait till they fix it to turn it on again.

Why do they even make you manually upload the trophy data instead of doing it instantly when you are logged in to psn?

Syncing occurs pretty much anytime you log onto PSN though doesn't it? I don't ever manually sync, but the trophies I earned from playing Heavy Rain last week show up in my Trophy Card in my sig. So, that would seem to indicate that they're ok wouldn't it?
Well, it's not in HD yet, but it's uploaded. If you want to wait for HD, give it 15 minutes to process as HD.

What is your wallpaper?
What is your wallpaper?
That would be called a woman.
It's called a female. ;)
fuck.
Both are worthy replies, even if you got beat to it.
Jokes on him. My PS3 tells me it's 1999, so my reply beat his.

I wonder how the trophies and corrupted data are going to be fixed. If it does end up fixing itself tomorrow will those things be restored too or will we be out of luck? I didn't realize this was a big issue until I read the news stories. I thought the network was just down for service or whatever. I did notice my clock was wrong though and it wouldn't fix automatically so I manually changed it. Hope that didn't screw anything up.

I noticed later that the Battlefiled 1943 theme I was using at the time wasn't showing up and found it was corrupted data when i tried to reapply it. Also, since i didn't think it was a big deal at the time I was playing borderlands and probably missed a few trophies, and i think the new dlc for it that i downloaded yesterday didn't take. I'm afraid to go back now and find out until this whole mess is fixed.

FYI, if you can't wait you can always pull the CMOS battery and reset the date manually on boot. Not a hard process at all, but it requires opening up the system and voiding the warranty. The people who've done this were able to see all their trophies and saves just fine, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Once the clocks resync, everything should be fixed anyways so there's no need to fix it yourself TBH.

Rather than cracking open a $200 piece of electronic machinery and *hope* that you can fix it, I would suggest waiting until Sony figures this out. It's a firmware issue, so likely a system update will be added as soon as they have a fix.

I'm going to read a book tonight until it's all patched up. They can have until Tuesday, just get it right so I can get my Battlefield on. ;)

I think most people would be interested in that PS3 deal.
