Does Gator play anything aside from Japanese novel games that take 30 minutes to plat?
Of your 47 plats I have 28 of them. The rest are sports games, rpgs, or fighting games which I admit I do not play. You have started 5 games I have the plat in and you do not: GTA 4, Red Dead Redemption, Little Big Planet, Uncharted 3, and Prince of Persia. I guess all of those only take 30 minutes but you couldn't be bothered to finish them?

Congrats on the one game I started and you have the plat and I don't: Mirror's Edge. I hate that game and didn't even finish story mode.

Have I played a lot of Japanese games lately? Absolutely. A friend sent me 18 of them in the mail to play and I am trying to get them done and sent back to him in between rentals from Gamefly.

At least when Jay gave me shit, he wasn't someone who also had played Hannah Montana, Terminator Salvation, Megamind, Sega Genesis collection, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, TWD and others for easy plat grabs just like I had.

I would've just said I'm #43 in the US and you can suck it. That works too though.

I could have gone that route, but my level really does not prove anything except that I have a lot of time that I spend playing games. It doesn't prove that I am any better at anything except not getting burned out and to continue playing. I guess people assume I am trying to appear better than them by displaying my trophy card or something. I am proud of what all I have played so I display it, but I do not think my level makes me any better than anyone else just because they may not be as high.

That was why I responded the way I did.

I wish there really was a way to have a contest to determine who is actually good at getting trophies. Right now we're doing a great job at determining who has the most time on their hands to speed run a game, but that's about it. I can't even offer suggestions, because I can't think of anything.
Look for plats with a true trophy score that is high, but a completion time that is not that comparatively long. Look for ones that are difficult, not timey grindy.

Vig if you don't want to start up your Gamefly games to check them because of trophies or something, then create a separate account and start them up on that one.

That's when it presumably gets really good, huh? I might check it out eventually. Still 12ish episodes into the first season and I hate every character. Like a lot.

On the other hand, I'm towards the end of season 1 of Agents of Shield and I think it is pretty sweet (despite having a few annoying characters of its own).
I think I've seen maybe 2 or 3 episodes of Agents of Shield but that's the first time I heard anyone say it's better than Arrow.

Was waiting for him to say "and get the fuck off my lawn" in that gif. The frames even called for it.

Those are probably the 2 most fun Lego games that have been made. The Marvel one is a lot more of a grind than the Movie game is. I would expect both to be cheaper on Black Friday.
I don't know Lego Batman 2 Vita was a lot of fun and that's suppose to be the shitty 3DS port version, guessing the PS3 game was better from what people said. I've played some Lego Marvel which I felt was annoying and cumbersome at times. Still fun but not perfect.

Like I said, I've seen 12ish episodes of Arrow. If I was to compare those to the first 12 of Shield I'd pick Shield every time. Like no contest.

I started back on AC4 (PS4) after a long hiatus with it. I was at 5% and only got to 7% in about an hour. I think mainly because the missions were setups, killed some dude, got my ship, got away from other ships, and got sent to hunt.

I'm really glad I didn't go hog wild and buy all the older games on PSN the other week. The controls are just so cumbersome\convoluted in AC, the combat is more annoying than fun, and even some of the climbing and assassination moves have weird jank to them. I'm not a fan of how the game handles stealth either especially those trailing missions. It's as if this game is stuck in time. I'm thinking Unity could fix some of these things but overall I'm not impressed and now with a game like Mordor AC needs to get itself together. I know there are also a ton of good things to like about the games and I'm only at the tip of the iceberg in 4 but I think for me personally the pros aren't outweighing the cons. 4 might be my last AC game.

The only part of Marvel that felt cumbersome to me was the flying stuff. To call the controls poor would be an understatement.

As far as the shitty 3DS port, I will once again say that I think they Lego Vita games are always more fun than the console counterparts. I actually can not speak to Lego Batman 2 Vita since I have yet to play that one. However, the other recent ones that have had the challenges per level instead of all the insanely long grinding have made the games much more enjoyable. It is more gameplay and strategy than it is just a collection fest. I am having fun with Lego Ninjago now and it is setup that way.

I think Stellar is the only other person that agrees with me about the Vita games being more fun. However, the people that don't seem to be people who have never actually played a Vita Lego game and just want to bitch about it being a port of the 3DS version.

My guess it would depend how much a fan of / how much one hates the open world portion as it's not present in the vita version correct? It's just the levels.

I was waiting to hear from the guy who posted about the problems as to whether the disc didn't even start up or if he played it for a bit before encountering problems. If it's just a startup issue, then I won't mind popping in the discs and letting them get to the title screens since the 0% completions won't count against me on PSNP. I might follow your advice if it turns out to be the latter, though.

I liked lego marvel on ps4, but it would've been vastly better without the open world so I'd believe that the vita version is superior. the only thing I would've missed is the big lego sentinels which are pretty sweet.

finally get to go trade in the last of us for a fatty sack of cash and lock in my evil within preorder. also got a 3x rz points coupon from bby so I might grab some other fun stuff. I deserve it!

Maybe I fall on the Vita side as well of this equation then.

The Lego Marvel flying controls took a little getting used to, mostly figuring out turning with acceleration/deceleration but once that happened, I nailed those flying races with ease.  And, it's the best way to travel in the game.  Free fall for 4000 feet, stop on a dime.

I'm waiting for Lego Movie and Hobbit to hit $5 or less on Steam.

Lol, I generally like a ton of stuff and haven't complained about much at all lately but I honestly don't get all the love for the AC series. It's got everything to be amazing but I think it falls short. I'm going to keep playing it anyway, maybe I just need to re-acclimate myself with the controls and world.

I would actually consider calling the better business bureau if you traded in a ps4 game to best buy and in return you received a bag of dicks instead of a gift card.

Hobbit is far and away the longest collection fest version of any of the Lego games. I usually and always wanting them to be over by the time I finish all the collecting. With that one, I think I was not even half way in when I wanted it to be over.

The Vita version of this one also had an odd type hub world where there was a lot of stuff to do in it unlike the other recent games.

I'm generally not a fan of all the open world collecting that goes on in LEGO Marvel, so Vita version may have been a better fit for me. It is impressive how much is there though. LEGO Batman seemed to be better regarding that, but still was grindey. LEGO LOTR Vita was great, but it was hard to know where to turn in collectables without a guide. But it was enjoyable enough if you don't care about reduced textures.

Regarding flying, I love to do it in Marvel, but still can't master the flying races, especially the one that starts on the helecarrier. Controls are much better than flying in Batman 2 though. I raged in my head very much at those when I was finishing off the gold brick collecting.

my favorite thing about that helicarrier race is that it went on f-o-r-e-v-e-r. everytime you thought you'd be at the end BOOM another ring. it was truly turrible.

I'm sure I wouldn't make the time to play this with people, but I hope this silly game has legs. I think it looks fun and interesting if only they just flesh out the available archetypes (without resorting to dlc).
Maybe it will EVOLVE over time.

It was pretty good, they kinda put a period on the narrative at the end of season 2 so the first episode is about rebooting the show a bit and setting up the conflict for the season.
Good to know. I tried to watch season 2 during the summer reruns, but they skipped some episodes here and there and I never caught up.

What's the best site(s) with Spelunky strategies?
No idea but here's some:

Always carry something. Rocks are great to set off arrow traps or to hit an enemy. Look down. Kind of obvious but after awhile you learn how far you can jump down without taking damage. Don't anger shopkeepers by stealing, until you get good at it or know how to handle it. You can make sacrifices on those alter looking things. I never got really good with the teleporter but if you do it looks like you can break the game. There was a speedrun of like 2 minutes or something nutty not that long ago. When you start out just try to make it out of the levels. When you get past a section I think 3 times you will start to get shortcuts to the later areas. Shotgun and jetpack combo is a great combination if you can get it. Conserve bombs unless you have a lot. Using 1 bomb for a chest is probably ok as the reward is usually greater. Saving a dame in the level gets you a heart back, but don't go out of your way if it looks like a pain to get her. Probably a ton more but that's a start.
