in case I didn't mention it, you guys were right to like velocity ultra. it's pretty excellent - it's crazy how flashy it can look when you know what you're doing (like the teleport/bomb/speed rhythm of 50 when you've got it down looks awesome). I'm glad the whole game isn't about split second timing, but I definitely like that side of it.
Pete, does this mean you got perfect on 50?

I play kinda slow, but I dont think you're gonna scratch the surface of FO3 in 24 hours. Easily 50+, and probably double that for completionist. If you're following a guide or are familiar with the game, you might could run through it pretty quick, but you'd be missing out on a lot of stuff.
It's definitely possible to sink a lot of time in into it, but from what I remember without the GOTY/ DLC the level cap is 20. There is a ton of exploring and the times I gave are mostly for campaigns ( double checked on HLTB.) I mean the first Bioshock took me over 20 hours to complete, but that's because I stopped and looked at everything. I guess it justs what the players intentions are. I know I finished Fallout 3 around the 20-25 hour range. I know for a fact it wasn't over 30. Your input is appreciated.

Yeah I wasn't considering not having the DLC since I had it, that would add time as well since one of them is basically a campaign/level cap extension. I cant check my times since it was so long ago...no longer have the saves, and timestamps aren't on my trophies. I probably had a good 50+ hours into it with a ways to go for completion. Much better game when you dedicate some time to it though, rather than rush through as quickly as possible just to say you played it.

So I need your guys opinion, keep or sell the borderlands 2 code with my vita?

I remember someone saying that you don't need to play the first borderlands to play the second, but that's about it.

Just play it. It's a fun game. Playing them both you'll end up burned out on the series. Any technical issues will seem non existent to someone who hasn't played the game on a console before.

The story connections between the two games is minimal. You'll be all caught up by about the time the intro is over.

Therein lies the problem, that makes it a masterpiece and an innovative piece of film at a certain point of time. If the things that made the movie great are new techniques and not the quality of the film itself. A good film is a good film period and for all time, if you have to qualify it with "for its time," then its not a great film. Years from now people may watch the first Matrix and wonder what the big fucking deal was about it. If once you strip away all the innovative use of effects that were copied and proliferated, if the core film itself is not interesting, then it was never a good film.
First, Citizen Kane is a great film in and of itself. However, the innovations of Welles - his gifts to all future films - are part of what make it arguably the best/most important film of all time.

But even subtracting that, great films can be great for different reasons. I think Speed Racer was a visual masterpiece, to the point that I don't even care about the plot at all.

Or, take something like Birth of a Nation. It's a classic film, powerful, important. But it's plot is now so antiquated that most people wouldn't want to watch it (The KKK are essentially the heroes of the film). Likewise, Leni Riefenstahl's WWII Germany propaganda films are still textbook examples of the art.

All art ages. Modern media, especially, caters to specific, modern demographics. Everything from opening to credits, to hairstyles, to plot mechanics, stereotypes, jokes, pacing, camera technique, and picture quality vary greatly even across 10 years time. But that doesn't mean they aren't great anymore, nor does it mean "it was never a good film".

Film is a language that evolves and changes with the times. For example, The Usual Suspects brought twist endings back into vogue, and then a few years later the Sixth Sense brought it mainstream, and then for years practically every film had a twist ending. Likewise, Pulp Fiction turned traditional narrative upside down and inside out, which lead to dozens of mimics as well as influencing other narrative ideas like Memento.

The thing is, if you didn't see the 'original', you'll never recognize when lesser films are just copying another director's (or writers, or cinematographers, etc) innovations. While that may not be important to you, it's important to many enthusiasts.

Likewise, just because the interfaces of all crpgs from the 80's are now archaic and near unplayable doesn't mean they weren't good/great, both 'for their time' and 'now'. It just means you need to work at it a bit more.

Citizen Kane is great. I haven't watched the Ebert commentary yet but I'm pretty sure it's on the DVD version that I own.
It's worth it.

Well, shit, didn't realize we were boosting tonight.  Stotch, I thought you couldn't play until tomorrow?  I didn't read the thread today, just skipped to the end.

So it's a feasible 12-15 hour plat?
the second and third runthroughs go much quicker, if for any reason you're invincible if you grab the right suit stuff but you also are used to the weirdness of the game. but, hunting down all the clues is such a horrendous bitch even with a guide/map that it more than makes up for the faster runs. I really wanted that game to be better than it was.

I'd keep it and play it. But depends on how much you can get for it. If I could get $30 I'd sell it and wait to rebuy it later at a cheap price. If I could only get $10-$15 for it I'd just keep it and play it.
