Why are you idiots arguing about what constitutes an RPG? It's fucking simple. Maybe next we can argue about what constitutes a sports game since sports is competition so any game with any semblance of competition must be a sports game.
That's another one of those things with a murky definition, what is a sport and what is merely a competition?

I brought a Metallica tape in to 5th grade, Ride The Lightning, when we were told we could play music for the class that we liked. I too had an older brother that listened to music. When I played it I thought the teacher was going to have me committed. Lol.
I got to bring Nine Inch Nails and Perfect Circle cds to French class back in highschool. Nine Inch Nails had an instrumental song called La Mer (the sea) and I think Perfect Circle had Mer de Noms (sea of names). It was pretty cool to sit in class and listen to them.

I felt like I was getting pretty old these past few weeks when people ask me what music I listen to and im like whatever the radio is playing. It makes me seem so mainstream vanilla, but I just don't listen to albums as much. I havnt bought/listened to a NIN album since the fragile, probly round 2001. Now im more top 40s r&b pop. I tripped out n listened to Pink Floyd's the Wall and Dark Side of the Moon and then some Tool Lateralus and Aenima, that brought back good memories. My kids were like omg this music is so old/bad, they wanted durroolo wiggle your big fat butt and anaconda, lol, poor kids. I should have played some Queen. We have been invited to go to this EDM rave party knightmare underground BassCave this fri/sat, but idk if I can handle a full weekend party techno binge at this point. some wanna get a hotel room, some wanna just camp in a tent, im like i wanna go home to my bed. im getting too old for this, lol

yowza I still haven't even started lbp2, I'm scared of it considering how much time I put into lbp/lbp vita. unless it's god's gift to video games compared to lbp3, maybe I'm better off skipping it and waiting for 3.
LBP2 is a large time investment. I can not compare it to the Vita version since I have not played it yet. I keep thinking it has to go free on Plus at some point.

It is not a long wait until LBP3 though. In fact, it is less than a month away now.

Maybe we can discuss what constitutes cheating.  Say a man tells his wife he wants a divorce.  Can he consider himself divorced and fuck whomever he wants without repercussions?  This hypothetical person is not me.  Hypothetical.  Seriously.

It's a trap! If you want a divorce, go get a divorce. Don't cheat on the side, that's not gonna make anyone feel better.

Without repercussions? No, not if the wife's lawyer finds out. The lawyer will then skip the lube when giving this hypothetical person the ass fucking he is already lined up to get.

No Pharm, you can't. Unless you're trying to give her extra ammunition come court time.

Ninja'd again.

Unless you've discussed it with her and she's fine with it, it's cheating. Even in that scenario it's risky as has been stated, but from a fairness standpoint it's shitty to do. Obviously we don't know the details of your relationship, but it sounds like she doesn't want things to be over between you. Having sex with other women while she's still hoping this goes away and you're still legally married is just an asshole thing to do. The very least damage you're doing is hurting her feelings more than necessary, and aside from the lawyering standpoint the worst that could happen is that you patch things up (even though you've no intention of doing so now it could happen) and you're stuck having cheated on your wife and either telling her and making things worse or hiding it and that problem just floats out there to fuck you over later on.

Plus no matter how this goes it's a shitty thing to expose your kid to.

No, I wouldn't do that. Unless you want to end up like Al Green or something. I don't even know how people ask for a divorce/break-up and remain under the same roof. Just be cool and get out safely.

On a more serious note, even though Zelda is an action adventure it still feels like an rpg. You gain weapons to gain abilites and reach places you couldn't before, collect money or rubies and buy shit, you open chests with crap in them, you talk to villagers, you have to go place to place etc. Shit Zelda 2 even had a leveling system (I know it's the black sheep but if you haven't played it you really should, it's amazing game and might be my favorite Zelda). Doesn't seem too far off from most modern RPGs. Not to mention back in the day we didn't have all this overly complex distinction of games. I mean we had like Final Fantasy and Zelda. Is it FF or Chrono Trigger? No but to me it's rpg-ish.
The only point in having genre labels at all is to quickly convey what a game is like, so if you're going by the definition that essentially means an RPG is every game, or otherwise using a different definition than most people it becomes pointless to use it at all.

I've always considered RPGs games where a large emphasis is put on developing your character/party of characters, usually through stat building, leveling systems, and dialogue trees that make most of the game about your character and expanding them/becoming them more so than just playing them like any other character.

At this point most games have incorporated these sorts of elements in other genres, and traditional RPGs as they once were are rather hard to come by at all. At that point I tend to categorize a game based on which elements are the most prevalent in the game (ie. Borderlands has leveling and stats, but its focus is easily on its shooting mechanics so I'd consider it a shooter more than an RPG). Ultimately standard genres and the games within them are becoming less and less applicable to modern games, as games branch out and cross pollinate so much as to have very few games that strictly resemble one genre.

What I'm trying to say with all of this is Backlog should play Okami.

Reminds me of when I got offspring-smash when I was 10 blaring the song where they scream.."you stupid dumbshit goddamm motherfucker!"

Any of you punks listen to Authority Zero? I like them a lot as far as newer west coast punk music.
I lost 80GB of music from a corrupted hard drive. I'm going to rip all my music again. I got some Sublime for you that you'll dig. I'll set up my music on a dropsite so you and a few others here can get some music if you need something new to listen to.

That'd be awesome...is there a lot of good stuff outside of what I already have with the euts box/robbing the hood/40 oz/standbyyourvan/sublime/2ndhandsmoke/sublime w rome

Pinball fans and anyone interested in giving to a good cause, there's a Project Pinball charity raffle. Put in $50 and get an entry for a chance (1 in 200 chance as it's limited to 200 entries per sweepstakes) to win your choice of a Stern (Pro) model pinball machine (The Walking Dead, Iron Man Vault Edition, Mustang, Star Trek, Metallica or AC/DC) delivered to your door. Project Pinball is a charity that puts pinball machines in children's hospitals in the US. If you want you can put in more than $50. Every $50 gets you an entry.

http://www.projectpinball.org/sweepstakes/

I'm in this current one. This is the 5th drawing. After all 200 entries are sold, they start another 200 entry sweepstakes. Not sure how long they are going to keep this up.

I used to be a hardcore Sublime collector. I have a lot of hard to find CDs that fetch some good money. First off have you ever heard the Skunk Records version of 40oz to Freedom? There were samples that were pulled plus 2 songs. The songs were Get Out! and Rawhide. Get Out is a different version from the versions you have. It's gonna take some time for me to get everything ripped but it'll be worth the wait.

I'm lucky to have a Skunk Records pressing of 40oz signed by Bradley.

I probably haven't heard anything outside of what I mentioned above. My 40 oz is most likely nothing rare. I do also have a DVD they made full of random shit and backyard concerts they did back in the day.
I'd love to share my huge music collection somehow with anybody thatd want it. Nothing too rare but mostly all studio stuff from every genre. I have plenty of stuff from sublime/authorityzero/rancid/bad religion/pennywise/nofx/transplants as far as stuff from that genre.

I can't say that that trailer makes me want to play Hatred. It appears to exist solely to shock, and I don't especially want to "role play" being that type of maniac.

Yeah I only mention rare music because it's some you most likely haven't heard. I got one cd called Memories and they only made 1000 hand numbered copies and another called War on the Blvd. that only 200 were hand numbered.

Did you ever get into Long Beach Dub All-Stars?

Pharm, I have some news that will make you feel better:

I got a legendary pulse rifle called the Super Pox VLO today that's actually really awesome. Just upgraded it to fire in full auto, it's super stable, and has a good rate of fire, impact, and range. This might be my new primary.

My warlock is now at 29 and I just finished the sunsinger subclass. Took a little over a week of primarily playing him to get him there.

My hunter is at 24 now, but he's got the backseat to my other two characters who get all my shards. Hunters suck so he can go fuck himself.

Don't think I have, but after a quick search of the google, I should probably check them out.

Speaking of Long Beach Dub All-Stars there's been another death in the music community. It looks like keyboardist Ikey Owens had died of a heart attack on Oct. 14 at the age of 38. Ikey Owens played keyboards for The Mars Volta and was currently on tour with Jack White. Owens died in Mexico between shows and Jack White has cancelled the rest of the tour out of respect.

I saw Ikey Owens play many times and you can tell he was having a great time making music.

Eh, just go for it. I mean, what are the chances it all blows up in your face? Slim, I'm sure.

Apparently preview builds of Lords of the Fallen haven't been favorably received, so the developer responded:

Perfect timing for attacking looks like a cool concept. I am concerned that there is not a lot of build variety, only goes up to ng++. It does look pretty. I am really on the fence with this one. With DA:Inquisition coming in a few weeks is Lords of the Fallen a buy or a wait for a huge fan of the souls series? EpicNameBro didn't seem too excited during his review.

Bumslie, what do you think?

Another death too. Tyson Stevens, formerly of Scary Kids Scaring Kids, died yesterday.

I might be the only one here that listened to Scary Kids Scaring Kids.

The game looks interesting but I'm going to wait for a big price drop. It looks like a Souls style game even with, you lose your xp if you die and don't reclaim it. I'm sure I'll play this game eventually but I'll be waiting for the right price.

Never listened to them but it sucks when musicians die.

I saw The Gorillaz for the Plastic Beach tour and they brought out Lou Reed to play. The people around me are like who's that guy. I couldn't believe my ears. Few months later Lou Reed died. I'm glad I got to see him play even though it was for only 1 song.

At least you didn't have to hear him sing anything off of Lulu.
