I might be in for the Tomb Raider bundle. Is Quantum Conundrum worth a play?
I thought it was fun to play through. Little bit of humor, some personality... ending was kind of weak but still a fun game.

Finally platinum'd Killzone Shadow Fall and noticed on True Trophies it's 9,040 TT points! While it will go down over time it's still nice to see it worth so much.
I'm really enjoying KZ right now despite GGs attempts to sabotage their own game. Thought about going for the Plat but it looks like it would take awhile. Can you say approximately how long it took you on the MP side of things? And also please include whether or not you boosted, as that will change things a bit. Thanks!

EDIT: Nevermind. Got smart about it and looked up your ID on the KZ site. Looks like you put in just over 5 days... I'm close to 3 right now and can't imagine being able to max out these abilities in that amount of time but I guess its worth a shot.

Grr...I don't know why, but I'm on the fence still about picking up Ni No Kuni for less than $10. I own the disc and haven't even gotten around to the game, but I do like having my digital stuff....those 20 GB though..  I don't knoooow.

I don't recall ever running into a butt stallion. Is that in the main game or one of the DLCs?

Yeah, my wallet is feeling that burn pretty bad. God damn Sony. Come to think of it, I'm boycotting Spelunky because I'm sure next month it will be on sale for $2.50! There, I WIN!
There is a small comment made by Handsome Jack (by communications device) when you are escorting Claptrap from Southern Shelf to Sanctuary. It's one of the very first story missions in the game. The comment is pretty minor but Gearbox has merchandise referencing it and also added it into the Tiny Tina DLC due to the supposed popularity of it. Personally, I think it was kind of funny the first time, but basically overused after that.

I won't play Borderlands 2 coop, but will try it again solo. The problem with coop for me is that everybody has already played the part I need to play, so playing with anyone means it just feels like going along for the ride/busy work - they already know what to do, where to go, how to do what needs to be done.

Should get together with some who are getting it through PS+ for the first time to play coop.

Last Chance (Leaving on 12/17)

One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 $12.50+ :hot: :hot: $24.99
Sweet Christmas, that's stupid fresh! Now I know what my son is going to be playing for the next three months, rendering all the other games I bought him for Xmas to the backlog...

I had been avoiding getting Tomb Raider because the stuff that comes with the bundle doesn't really do anything for me, and I couldn't just buy the digital game that I could see. I had actually ended up putting it on my Amazon wish list as a physical purchase. Glad that I didn't buy it yet, I'd much rather own it digitally, and for that price the bundle version won't bother me.

I did all of mine without boosting (don't see the point to do that on a new game since you always find full matches). With most of the abilities, it's all about using them properly and getting the kills come pretty easy then. If you got any questions you can just ask me, but just be patient with it and you will get it done.

Add me to list for Borderlands over Borderlands 2.  I loved the first one, but the second one wasn't nearly as fun.  I bought the season pass for the DLC when it first came out, and I haven't touched any of the DLC yet.  Making my way through the main game was just too much of a drag.  I might play it eventually, but meh.

I'm not sure about DC. I've played Odin Sphere and Muramasa and I found both to be annoying; the artwork is gorgeous, the fighting is simple but fun enough...but I hated "Oh, here are five enemies, beat them and then go to a new screen," over and over. With the side-scrolling action type game I want it to be more like TMNT or Battle Toads, with a long level with tons of enemies you have to wade through. Constantly going to new screens pulls the game away from being combat-focused to "Okay, let's walk for a minute or two to get to another fight." It's annoying.

Not sure if DC is exactly the same way or not...but it sure turned me off to Vanillaware to have both OS and MR taking that same approach.
You definitely make a solid point. I recently played through Muramasa and although I enjoyed it, it felt like they were arbitrarily making the game longer by slowing it down with new screens and slowing down the action.

Hmm, is the Tomb Raider bundle having some sort of deal at the moment? The web store is showing it as being $30, and my friend says that on steam, just the game is around $50, and I remember the bundle being $50 or more.

Tomorrow it will be on sale in the Playstation Store. $15 or $13.49 for Plus members.

I'm wondering how much better the PS4 version will look. It is already pretty gorgeous on the PS3. It was the first game in awhile that made me drop my jaw and stop to take in the scenery.

I do but I also love comics. I'll have to think about that one.
I'm an avid fan of the marvel vs capcom series and I have fond memories of the original. It always felt more charming and less like a 'serious' fighting game (of course there's plenty of people that know how to play it seriously). Plus, it has Venom and Captain Commando. And the fun assist/partner scheme which had a lot of lesser known guest appearances. For $4, you can't go wrong.

This was happening to me when I bought the game for 360 at release. I don't have that much time to game, so within a day I'm already way behind. It won't matter. I'll try playing offline this time and see if it's fun.

this is my problem as well. I primarly play co op with my little brother (who is 16) and he has so much damn time to play video games that he beats games before I have time to start them. Only time I get co op in is during holiday.

Yeah, I know it'll be on sale for PS+ tomorrow, but I just saw it at $30 on the PSN today, and I remember it costing at least $20 more than that a week or two ago when I looked at it. Was wondering if there was some deal going now too, or if it had a price drop.

Edit: I'm an idiot and forget that the entire point of this thread was the OP, which had the info I wanted. :)

Tyler buying Spelunky again at any price???
I always thought that if it ever gets to 75% off or more I'd give it another shot, just based on the fact that so many people like it so much. Also seems like Vita would be the perfect system to play it on. I'm really surprised it's going to be so cheap already so I'll give it one more try.

Agreed. My brother-in-law rushed through it with me and I didn't know what was going on half the time we played. It was still fun, but the experience was diminished. After that, I made sure to go at a slower pace with anyone new I played with since I wanted them to have the full experience. If you find someone patient, co-op is definitely the better choice, but going alone is still fun.

Also, for those of you making judgments of whether or not to play Borderlands 2 based on anecdotal responses here (especially negative responses), keep in mind that it is a hugely popular game for a reason. Every person is entitled to their own opinion, but internet forums tend to highlight negative opinions a little more than positive ones.

It's like I always say, okay? When life gives you lemons, you sell some of your grandma's jewlery and you go clubbin'

Constantly going to new screens pulls the game away from being combat-focused to "Okay, let's walk for a minute or two to get to another fight." It's annoying.

Not sure if DC is exactly the same way or not...but it sure turned me off to Vanillaware to have both OS and MR taking that same approach.
While I agree Muramasa and probably Dragon's Crown should have gone with more of an action approach since that's what those games were. Odin Sphere is a hybrid game of sorts and the slowing down actually works with the ideas of combining items and such being a bigger part of gameplay. Clearly the games aren't for you though as the style of gameplay never discouraged me from any of them as it honestly felt more like those old games the way it was,

Not sure about your memory but the games you mentioned did the same thing you mentioned. You cleared out a room and an arrow would appear and say "GO!" and then you'd move to the next area until the screen stopped scrolling again.

Almost pulled the trigger on Spelunky on Steam for that price last week, but held off since the Vita is where I see it as being the most fun to play. Patience is a virtue ^_^

I might be in for the Tomb Raider bundle. Is Quantum Conundrum worth a play?
Personally I didn't care for it. There are some cool ideas but the platforming is lousy and the dialog felt half finished and never went anywhere. It's not terribly long and if you like Portal you might gleam some enjoyment from it, but personally I was rather disappointed and wouldn't recommend it.

Sweet Christmas, that's stupid fresh! Now I know what my son is going to be playing for the next three months, rendering all the other games I bought him for Xmas to the backlog...
Getting him into the backlogging game early = you're doing it right ;)

lol, "rent". from where?
Redbox, Gamefly, Gamestop (buy and immediately return--you get 7 days), Blockbuster...

Being on PS3, it would all be on the same disc anyways. I don't think PS3 GOTY editions install to the hard drive like the Xbox 360 versions do. But I could be wrong.
There's an add-on content disc for PS3 in addition to the GOTY version.

I wouldn't suggest buying this, but a rental can be a decent upgrade for a nice cost.

Keep in mind that although this doesn't have everything, neither does the GOTY. There is not a complete Borderlands 2 release out yet.

I keep reading your posts in Dave Foley's voice now.

I've been avoiding Spelunky, guess I'll finally cave in and get it.

Just a polite reminder to everyone who keeps having these "isn't it obvious" responses to the rental questions.

1) all rentals require credit cards, and most flag gift cards right away. so you can't rent without one.

2) most people don't even know despite closing their stores that Blockbuster is still in the online business. their poor marketing is part of the reason their store went down in the first place

3) redbox's selection sucks and it sucks even more depending on your area

4) gamefly will flat out refuse some people if they have suffered heavy losses in the same neighborhood

5) Gamestop does not have to honor your return if they have also been suffering several "rentals" of used games. Yes it's their policy but they still can turn you down or they can do your current return and flat out tell you no more and flag you.

I'm fairly certain you only need the disc once to install. Whether it links to the store or is actually on the disc, I don't know.

find a cag ;)
Yes, yes....

I didn't know you bought a vita! Welcome to the smallest most exclusive club on earth. :bouncy:

lol, this is what I figured you meant, hence the quotation marks. CAG has its own language. Not worth the trouble to me, though.

Yeah, I bought one during BF (Amazon bundle most were disappointed by). Turns out it's actually pretty awesome, not sure why everyone just likes to piss on theirs :whistle2:k
My Vita has been piss free since Day 1. Glad you finally picked one up.

That's not a disc with the DLC but a voucher that lets you download the items from the PSN. I saw this at Best Buy and was surprised to see VOUCHER ONLY on the cover.
