Spelunky is $3.75 for PS+ tomorrow. There's no reason not to pick it up and at least try it out at that price. Holy shit that's a steal.

hooray! finally a mvc:eek:rigins sale! And that pile of junk spelunky is on sale for just a hair over an Amy.

Is either Borderlands game any good if you're certain you won't play one hot second of co-op?

edit: crap, I might get d&d too because it's cheap enough for me to not need justification.

Needless to say, that is an amazing price for Spelunky! Buy it, then add me to your friends list (same username) so we can compare daily challenge scores and such….

I bought it at launch price and I've gotten my money's worth three times over.
Oh, I bought it because I thought it was a decent price. I'm just annoyed at how poorly-coordinated the sales are between regions. Special sale on 2 items per day for xmas....and it's twice as much as a normal weekly sale 4 days later?

I finished Tomb Raider and sold it off but that is quite a steal for that game. I guess I should wait for the PS4 version though if I want to play it again. I'll probably grab Spelunky based on the numerous amounts of hype on it from all directions. Must be awesome. I'm also considering the Marvel vs. Capcom games because they are so cheap. I swear my PS3 is pretty much my games jukebox at this point.

$15 doesn't seem like a bad price for NHL 14? I haven't played a hockey game in years. What do you guys think?

Also, I already have Borderlands 2 on Xbox, but I am going to pick it up anyway. If anyone wants to play coop on PS3, feel free to add me. I don't really have a ton of friends on PSN.

I'm tempted by NHL and The Show discounts. But probably don't want a baseball game with the season over for a few months. May even get Spelunky even though I wasn't terribly impressed with the demo. If only someone would talk about that game in here.

I believe Jeff Minter's TxK is coming out soon - it was submitted to Sony already and he is now asking for help translating the marketing blurb for the PSN page to other languages, so it's got to be close to release.

Spelunky at this price is actually what I hoped for from this sale! Can wait to try it.

I don't understand why the Vita version of Dragon's Crown is the same price as the PS3 version in all these recent sales. If it was $10 cheaper as you would think I'd be all over it, I'll for that $20 price point.

This just isn't true. I remained silent during that gut-wrenching MGS debate, but now the lies have gone too far . :shame:
Agreed. Borderlands 2 blows away the first one in every way.

Also, for $3.75 I'll find out whether I'm one of those weirdos who thinks Spelunky is the best game ever or one of those weirdos that think its the most horrible thing created (or that third group who thinks the original game, Spelunker, was best).

You know there's a demo for PS3 and for Vita, right?

Perhaps demand? It does seem like it was developed with vita in mind, what with all the touch screen functionality. I've spent a little time with both and I definitely prefer that version. I'll just wait for a deeper discount, though.

I'm not sure about DC. I've played Odin Sphere and Muramasa and I found both to be annoying; the artwork is gorgeous, the fighting is simple but fun enough...but I hated "Oh, here are five enemies, beat them and then go to a new screen," over and over. With the side-scrolling action type game I want it to be more like TMNT or Battle Toads, with a long level with tons of enemies you have to wade through. Constantly going to new screens pulls the game away from being combat-focused to "Okay, let's walk for a minute or two to get to another fight." It's annoying.

Not sure if DC is exactly the same way or not...but it sure turned me off to Vanillaware to have both OS and MR taking that same approach.

For single player? Borderlands 2 was outright boring. Maybe I was just over it by that time, though.

Also, I was relating my experience with the games, so it's odd that you would say my experience wasn't true.

Absolutely. Borderlands 2 and the original are both pretty high on my list of all time favorites (Borderlands 2 is likely in my top 10). I played the entire first game solo and had a blast. I played the entire second game multiple times both solo and co-op. I doubt I would have played through it multiple times if I didn't do the secondary playthroughs as co-op with friends, but I absolutely enjoyed playing alone the first time.

Also, as much as I loved Borderlands 1, it is not as good as Borderlands 2. If you plan to play both, make sure you play 1 first since it will be hard to go back to it after playing the second. There were a lot of improvements in 2 that make the game more user friendly and overall more fun.

So glad I waited on Spelunky. I also might pick up Marvel vs Capcom Origins.

As for the Borderlands discussion, I remember not really liking the first one but I loved the second one. I don't know if my gaming tastes changed in the time in between them but the second is awesome.

Finally platinum'd Killzone Shadow Fall and noticed on True Trophies it's 9,040 TT points!  While it will go down over time it's still nice to see it worth so much.

Quick question though for people that got FF14 - A Realm Reborn from the PSN store this week.  Did you get a code after you bought it (to be able to use down the road)? Or did it just add the service to your account and start up your 30 days?

I picked up NHL 13 via Gamefly for $7.99 ($7.19 as a member) a few months back and people are still making updated rosters at Operation Sports.

$15 is a good price, but I don't think you'll miss much from last year to this year if you can find a deal like that again.

In case anyone hasn't heard, Tomb Raider for next-gen was officially confirmed over the weekend, so they're putting the current-gen version on sale on PSN (and they did everywhere on BF) to make as much as they can on it before the "Definitive Edition" comes out in January.

That's a great price for the PS3 version, though, but I thought I'd mention this in case anyone else is like me and will now wait for the PS4 version to get a significant discount!  :)

I wish I would have waited on D&D, could have saved like $2. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

I played both single player for the most part, and I found the first game to be significantly more fun than the second for SP.
I'm actually with you on this one. I enjoyed my single player experience of Borderlands 1 far more than I did with the sequel. Never felt burnt out by the original, but by the time I was about half way through with the sequel I was just ready for it to be over.

That was my exact experience. I did have some fun with the Tina/D&D DLC, but even that got stale around the middle.

Also, I was relating my experience with the games, so it's odd that you would say my experience wasn't true.
I was obviously speaking in jest since an opinion can't be a lie, but people generally agree that BL2 outdoes the first in every conceivable way. I didn't even like the first that much, and even remember complaining about it here when we got it for PS+. But the story/writing, characters, setting/locales, loot drop, weapon variety and general pacing of BL2 is sooo much better. I mean, really, I know its a matter of opinion, but I just don't see where you're coming from. BL1 barely has a skeleton of a plot and takes place in one big ass arid desert. You basically fight a bunch of rabid mutant hyenas and a handful of clown midgets the entire time. You think that's better than butt stallion and Tiny Tina? Come on.

So glad I waited on Spelunky. I also might pick up Marvel vs Capcom Origins.

As for the Borderlands discussion, I remember not really liking the first one but I loved the second one. I don't know if my gaming tastes changed in the time in between them but the second is awesome.
I'm going to grab Spelunky at this price. I thought you hate fighting games these days?

not necessarily encouraging anyone to pick up Dragon's Crown at that price, but it really is an excellent game. I've been playing through as other archetypes and I'm amazed at how different they all play. So far I have 42 hours under my belt and bought it at release for $30 and I have not been the least bit disappointed.

also, whoever said 'spejunky' made me laugh. well done.

edit: butt stallion?

I wish I would have waited on D&D, could have saved like $2. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

I'm actually with you on this one. I enjoyed my single player experience of Borderlands 1 far more than I did with the sequel. Never felt burnt out by the original, but by the time I was about half way through with the sequel I was just ready for it to be over.
1. You got burned pretty bad on D&D!
2. I remember getting to a certain point in Borderlands 2, thinking I was so close to the end, only to find I was about halfway through the game. The first game though, I've played through like four times between PS3 and the Xbox. Never really got tired of it.

I don't recall ever running into a butt stallion. Is that in the main game or one of the DLCs?

1. You got burned pretty bad on D&D!
Yeah, my wallet is feeling that burn pretty bad. God damn Sony. Come to think of it, I'm boycotting Spelunky because I'm sure next month it will be on sale for $2.50! There, I WIN!
