Is this free games on Playstation Mobile a regular thing or just something they're doing for the holiday season? I'm new to the Vitaverse.

I love Super Crate Box, but the thing that bothers me about it is that most of the weapon unlocks kinda suck. I ended up getting 50+ crates in one run with only the revolver unlocked, but the mines, flamethrower, and disc gun are all pretty bleh weapons.

I do have to say though playing it on the Vita is way better than PC, and you can't beat free.

Caught the occasional TNG episode during it's initial run, and seen most of ToS and TNG movies, but I recently started watching DS9 proper for the first time (Aka Star Trek: Babylon 5), and am up to the start of Season 4. If one is interested in getting into the series' I would highly recommend getting Amazon prime, as it has all ToS, TNG, DS9, voyager, Enterprise, and a few of the movies for streaming for free as a part of that service.
Really?? So is that the consensus around here? I've not seen much DS9, but TNG is the one of the greatest things ever. i can't imagine it being topped, though nostalgia might be a driving force for me. May give DS9 a try then.

But, @captain, you cannot wrong with TNG. Especially the later seasons, but they're all good. So good.

I still have my $10 PS4 PSN credit, and I don't know if I want to spend it on that One Piece game, or NHL 14. I miss having a new NHL game, but I'd much prefer it physical, and on 360 (or even PS4). But $5 mannnnnnnnnn

Or One Piece for $2.50? Mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

But I still have Sengoku Basura in the backlog. Gaming, why do you have to be so hard

Thanks, my Hulu queue is already in quadruple digits and now I'm going to have to go watch DS9 to see if I was wrong.

If you catch the text when you unlock those three weapons you'll see the hint that they're not exactly there to make your life easier which I appreciate.

It takes a while for them to figure out who their characters are, but by the middle of the second season they pull things together. Just be patient with it, it's worth it.

Has anyone here played Muramasa?  I'm curious if there are differences when playing with Momohime or Kisuke?  Or is the same game, just with different characters?  I just beat the game with Momohime, is there enough differences in the Kisuke path to play it again, or is it basically just the same game?  Thanks.

I'm not trying to sound like an ass, but I can't understand people who love Voyager. The show was such a low quality show. Everything about it looks terrible, and sounds terrible, and IS terrible.

I don't like DS9 either, cause (and this sounds awful I know), I think Bajorans, by and large, are the whinest SOBs ever. Should they be treated the way they were being treated? Absolutely not. Are they a bunch of sniveling babies who don't do anything useful about it? Mostly yes. Especially the main Bajoran in the show. God I hated her. She was like a yappy little boot dog.

Enterprise was TERRIBLE. The theme song had words, enough said.

The only real question is whether TNG is better then TOS, and really, in my opinion, that boils down to your age and which you saw first. Most of my older Trek friends prefer TOS, and it was definitely the better show for its time, but I personally love TNG more because it's what I grew up with, and I know others who feel the same way.

Remember that time that Voyager episode had a Deus Ex Machina ending? Oh wait, I mean most of them

Picking up that D&D game that I almost got last time it was $5 and I am vaguely interested in the NHL game despite not being into sports games. Spelunky doesn't seem like it's up my alley, although I do remember playing 3d dot game heroes in spelunker mode which has nothing to do with the game. I normally like those kinds of games but the gameplay videos I have seen don't really do it for me. I'll probably look into the demo. Hopefully there will be more good winter sales.

It's really quite similar. There's the different weapon path and different interactions but it's not a huge difference. i would definitely say it's worth playing through but I loved that game (it's one of only two wii games I actually own) if you struggled to get through it I don't know that the slightly different stages and different interactions will be as interesting to you as they were for me.

Thank you. I certainly didn't struggle through the game. Besides a little bit of excessive backtracking, I really enjoyed everything else about the game. One other question, are the bosses the same in Kisuke path and in the same order?

Someone should convince me that MVC2 sucks so I won't be tempted to spend money on it that I'm saving for potential deals I care more about down the road.

I've got $25 PSN to last me the rest of the month.

Don't buy it if you aren't nostalgic for it.

Actually, even if you are, I still wouldn't buy it unless you're going to take the game seriously. It's not all that much fun to screw around with by yourself, compared to pretty much every fighting game this generation.

the bad thing is the dreamcast version was fun to play by yourself unlocking extra characters, costumes and stages but everything starts unlocked in this version

That doesn't really affect gameplay. I prefer unlocked, I have done this game in so many systems, I just want to load it up and be full roster nowadays.

Really loving Spelunky so far! Told myself I would try to make a dent in my backlog during my break between semesters but the addictive spelunking is getting in the way.

Off topic: DS9 is fantastic. Takes awhile to get good, but by season 2 it hits a good stride, and Odo is a wonderfully complex character.

I found I appreciated TOS more after watching a lot of TNG and seeing just how much of the lore and background was already in place in TOS. It really was ahead of its time. TNG is the better show, though, since there are more compelling characters. Data and Worf in particular really show off Star Trek at its best.

On topic: started Spelunky. Its charm hides its challenge and I can already see myself getting sucked into it.

This thread is a mod's nightmare...  Almost ready to be sent to the PS3/PS4 section...
The "too white" nerdy song was a stroke of genius though.

Actually I think DS9 had the best first season of any iteration of Trek; it was the least derivative of all of the newer shows (except maybe Enterprise). DS9 was the best of the Treks, hands down.

TNG is great once you get to around season 3-4, but by the time you get to 7 you start to see why it was time to end (repeating things; weird, borderline nonsensical plots).

Is Star Trek the one with wookies?  I love those adorable little bastards.

Also, since this is the Sony support thread, does the PS3 only turn on if there's PS+ stuff to do like saved data upload or trophy sync?  I queued up a bunch of stuff to download and it didn't start until I logged in two or three days later.

That's correct from my experience (PS3 updates, not wookies).

Yes. I've had the same issue. When you have stuff queued up to download, make you also have a save file to upload or trophyies to sync or something. Otherwise it doesn't download your pending stuff.

What's the deal with that Dynasty Warriors Empires 6 for $5 There's other Dynasty Warrior games but they're on sale for much more.

I really enjoyed Dynasty Warriors Gundam (2 and 3!) and wonder if I'd care about the main series, despite knowing no Chinese history.

I think you have your on/off topics mixed up.

Endor's such a lovely place in the spring.

I was wondering why things weren't downloading automatically. Why doesn't it just power up and check every night regardless? Dumb.
I still haven't figured out how exactly the auto upload/download stuff works on PS4. It just happens I guess? It's not scheduled, but it doesn't appear to ever auto sync trophies, downloads only seem to start when I take it out of standby (instead of while it's in standby as I thought it worked) and save uploads seem to happen right when I close the game, but only if I close it? Then it maybe does it when I come out of standby? I have no idea. It's weird.

Well it seems to have to power on to actually do anything and standby is just so you can turn it on remotely and charge your controllers. Everything else it seems to do on it's own in the background when it's on. As far as trophies go I've never synced them on the PS4 but when I get one it always shows up in my signature thing so I assume the system's doing something with them.

And then they made the TNG movies....

Which in some cases were plot point by plot point recreations except with characters that did things completely uncharacteristic, i.e. the tale of two Picards:

Start at 6:30, though the whole thing is great

Yeah, Insurrection was terrible. I don't know what was going on with that one--just poorly written crap. Frankly so was Generations. I get what they were trying to do with that one but it was still quite awful. The only TNG movies that were worthwhile were First Contact and Nemesis.

And the less said about the new Star Trek movies the better!

I don't know if I fully agree with this. I think it may download some updates in standby but not install them. I really wish they would have a more transparent system and even allow changes based on user preference. Perhaps that will come when they include the ability to suspend games. I assume some of the current standby limitations are in preparation/anticipation of that feature.
