You're missing the boat on this entirely. The LCD enables Sony to address two big complaints with the Vita (too bulky for a pocket, not enough juice). Wait and see the screen before you go nutso about it. I'm not fond of the Vita's OLED. It washes out in sun--sucks on the bus portion of my daily commute--and it's developed a couple noticeable dark spots. The colors are oversaturated. Yes, OLED has strengths, but its not a be all end all uber-technolog. The LCD will have weaknesses, but you've bought into marketing hype if you think LCD vs. OLED is a clear cut question.

Thanks for the response. Guess I was spending too much time on the screen itself without thinking about the larger picture. However, I do like OLED better than LCD but that's just my preference. At least LCDs on other devices.

On a side note I can see now why Grant left this forum.

 
I'm looking to pre-order GTA V. (I know, a bit late in the game but I have some free time coming up.)

I'm thinking about pre-ordering it on PSN but is the bonus75% Discount on a Rockstar PSN Title not available anymore? I'm not seeing it listed on the Sony webstore page for GTA V. Did it expire with the last update? Thanks guys for your help.

Those dark splotches on an OLED are pretty much a given, they're part of the manufacturing process. Trashing all product with them would render almost no yield. Fortunately, they're not visible at all during gameplay - only during all black/dark grey screens.

I greatly prefer OLED's fluidity of motion and color saturation to anything I've seen on LCD. But I mostly just want more vitas in peoples hands and if that means LCD, so be it.

I don't know, I was just joining in the conversation. I thought this was a forum, I wasn't aware I was in your PM box. You brought up that $190 > $200, which I called into question as to whether it would actually translate to that price on a store shelf in the US. I don't think I've been hostile in this interaction. A little snarky perhaps, but then this is the internet and CAG. Totally flimsy defense, but "you started it", by which I really mean, I was responding in kind and thought we were joking.

Anyway, I don't see this as any reason to leave this thread or forum. How about those PSN deals, huh? I'm glad the RE shooters hit PS+ as I was looking to pick up Darkside Chronicles for Wii.
 
something weird ass has gotten in the water around here lately. I'm sure when the new consoles come out no one will have anything to bicker about. but man, every single thread I visit regularly seems to have devolved into nonsensical arguing and personal in-fighting. it's fucking strange and I've not seen it so prevalent in the 8 or whatever years I've been visiting here.

I blame the default white theme of new cag.

Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky -- i'd love this to happen. they recently announced #2 will come to psp (yes, psp) in 2014. So there might be a sale/price drop in the next year.

Ys Seven -- Ys Memories of Celceta is coming in November. If we're going to see a sale, it'll be before then.

Ys Oath in Felgana -- See above.
Lunar -- unknown. it's been on sale before, but that was years ago. i think the current price is the old sale price.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 -- they dropped the price earlier this year to $10. I don't see any further price reductions/sales anytime soon.

Again, you never know. Perhaps they'll do some random big sale, or celebrate the new Ys in some way. I wouldn't hold your breath for any of them, really. But I'd say the Ys games have the best chance of a sale in the near future, but if it doesn't happen by the release of Ys MoC, then back to the drawing board.

On the other hand, I think Valkria is the least likely to go on sale due to the recent price drop. FF... hmm. At best, maybe in 6 months. But the huge sale was a 25th anniversary sale, and it's not like '26th anniversary' has the same ring to it. Still, they go on sale more often than most games.

Yeah I know there was the big sale on FF PSP games in February but I didn't have a Vita then. Looks like I'll just have to pay full price in October. I have enough in Amazon sales to cover it. Thanks!

Forums in general, especially this thread, tend to eventually turn most people into sarcastic assholes. Heck I know I've been one a few times and I'm usually not like that. This was the last thread/forum on the net I even read or post to because of all that. But it seems like I'm letting people bother me too much and get to me here too. Which if I did stop posting here would be the reason. Have to break the cycle somehow. :p

I'm getting mine on the "other" platform... Blasphemy in this thread I know, but I am an equal opportunity gamer and my female companion has a friend who only has that previously referred to platform so for gta online I had to obey.

Actually I wasn't going to get it, but a $20 pre-order GC from Best Buy and a guaranteed $45 trade in value for a month means I can turn $65 of my current Best Buy credit into a GTA V monthlong rental and $65 of Best Buy credit. Would have been foolish not to, though I really didn't enjoy GTA IV and only got about half way through. I'm hoping V is a lot more "fun".

Yeah, totally agree, experiences tend differ. I'll say that while Skyrim put my ps3 through hell (can't even remember how many times I needed to hard-reset), I still had a blast. Love that game, man. To those about to embark on the journey, just ensure you turn the auto-save off!

Considering how GTA IV and Red Dead ran/looked on PS3 in comparison to the "other platform", I think that's a safe move (not saying GTA V won't look great and run great on PS3, I just haven't had good luck with Rockstar games on the platform).

GTA 4 and Red Dead ran fine on PS3. Red Dead wasnt quite as nice looking when comapring side by side to the other console, but on its own t was a great looking Ps3 game. I loved every minute of GTA 4, I just dont get how people dont like it unless they didnt like any GTA before it. But to each his own. I am so phsyched over GTA 5.

Sorry, didn't mean for it to come across that way. Obviously the two versions aren't terribly different, but given the choice I don't know why you would choose PS3 over 360 unless you just prefer having your games on one of the other. I wasn't commenting on the quality of the games either, simply the graphics/frame rate, so don't take this as me hating GTA IV or anything :)

You have to disable it to two places, you have to disable auto-renew of PS+ in the subscription section, but you ALSO have to disable auto-funding in transaction management

Rag-doll kung-fu would be passably enjoyable if it didn't have awful six-axis motion controls built in as a part of its control scheme.

Why not just buy 1 or 2 of them from the list (VC2 would be a good choice for one of them since it recently had a price drop and probably won't go on sale for quite awhile), and then buy them as needed once you've played through the other ones. No point in dropping all your money at once full price at one time and then have them go on sale before you've even gotten all the way through your portable backlog.

Bethesda games are always such buggy messes on PS3 I only purchase their games on PC, if at all. At least on PC users can fix the bugs via mods.

Red Dead ran fine on PS3, the only thing about the game which drove me insane is the manual targeting. You push the trigger down, manual targeting comes up, Since the buttons are pressure sensitive, if you release pressure on the trigger ANY at all (even if the button is still depressed) then it snaps out of manual targeting. Press the trigger halfway down, let it raise a hair, out of targeting. Press the trigger all the way down, let it raise a hair (but still 95% depressed), out of targeting. :wall:

It's pretty great - especially for a handheld. I wish the multiplayer had more than 6 maps, but those maps and the gameplay are high quality. Hopefully the game is popular enough to add some more maps. I'm not a huge FPS fan, but I do enjoy them and i'm really enjoying this one more than I thought I would.

I have really been looking for this type of game ever since the disappointment of Black Ops Declassified last year and KZ:M doesn't disappoint in comparison. Of course, the bar was set pretty low.

All that being said, I almost never pay full price for any game (got mine for $32 after a promo code), so i'd always wait for some kind of price drop. I normally wouldn't even spend $32 but I figured KZ:M will probably have long term playability due to the genre, good quality, and lack of competition on the Vita. It seemed to take forever for Resistance: Burning Skies to drop to $20 if that helps in comparison.

The way they're handling installs on Xbox 360 is why I'll just get GTA V on PS3 since I don't really have the space on Xbox 360 to fuck around with double installing that game (once from disc two and once for disc one). Episodes from Liberty City ran fine for me and this game should benefit from the maturation of their engine.

I only have a PS3 so I only complain about issues on PS3 games if they run like shit like Bayonetta did before patch and like seamingly all open world Bethesda games.

PS3 requires the same amount of space installed 8 gigs. Just so you are aware

i absolutely loved GTA4. Have beaten it twice. I did miss some of the crazy stuff from SA, and the vibe from VA... but at the same time, I really appreciated the overall story. Even if it meant you couldn't be 'super rich' to fit the narrative. Loved the gameplay overall, but I'm a sucker for Rockstar games. i didn't notice any ps3 issues that i cared about with that or RDR... I do avoid FO / Skyrim now though.

I know. There are two installs for the Xbox 360 version. There's the install from the second disc that makes it so you only need the one disc and then the optional install for the main disc so the drive doesn't need to run to play the game.

I have a 1 TB HDD on my PS3 with about 100 GB free now and a 250 GB with a few GBs free, so the choice is pretty clear for me.

It's super dead. BB had cancelled most of the orders, maybe a few got through, but now a few people are reporting that they're getting shipping confirmations for their cancelled orders.
