Not a horror game fan here, either, to add to the latest fun tangent we go off on every once in a while. "Creepy" environments even get to me, although once in a while I will deal with it for a great story. Bioshock creeped the heck out of me but I wanted to force myself through it. I still remember being so tense swearing something was just going to pop out at me in Myst.

Picked up Urban Freestyle for Vita today. $5 and lukewarm sales lately and a Vita game? Sold. Anything that approximates Trials and I'm satisfied.

Also, in case anyone was curious since I never reported back I did get Remote Play to work for Ico and SotC and it was ... awful. It almost killed my enthusiasm for the PS4 equivalent but I read a lot about how much it's being improved. It was literally unplayable. Hit a button. And. Then. You. Move. Unplayable. My Vita also has awful wifi. My iPhone and iPad are sitting next to it with full bars and Vita has 0 or 1.

Sony either has to fix it drastically to work on their own weak Vita networking, which I'm confident they will, or I will have to buy a new extender just to sit next to the Vita in the bedroom. I really want this PS4 remote play thing to be good.

The remote play demos have shown it to be not only seamless, but much more stable. Also, your Vita has the same wifi that everyone else's Vita has. Not like they made yours any differently.

I played God of War HD with Remote Play and it worked really well for an action game that needs good response time. Were you connecting to the PS3's wifi or your local wifi network?

I understand that, of course. I didn't mean MY Vita specifically, just saying it as an example of doing a test with 2 other wifi devices right next to it. I think all Vitas must have pretty poor networking or don't work as well with certain situations as other devices. I've seen plenty of reports of others having the same issues. I sometimes test it by standing next to the router and I'm lucky to get 2 bars.

Anyway, that's good to hear about the improvement.

Glad to hear it's possible! I actually did God of War as well and ran into the same trouble, even putting the image quality down to the awful -1.

I didn't realize the PS3 had its own wifi field? Or that there were multiple ways to connect? I have Remote Start enabled on my PS3 then I use the Private Network option on Vita's Remote Play app as opposed to the Internet option. Is that the best way?

Okay, you set me off on an interesting search and, sure enough, that private network setting is a direct connection to the PS3. This actually totally makes sense now since I had no idea that the systems were actually trying to connect to each other rather than my network.

The PS3 is downstairs and I'm connecting in the master bedroom upstairs. Pretty amazing they can even pair at all. Funny, maybe Internet would actually be faster in this instance. Going to have to test that tomorrow.

That actually gives me a lot of hope for PS4 or even making the PS3 work better for it. I guess the key is having it fairly close to where you're going to play on Vita. I might just put the PS4 upstairs now. I will have to see how well the Internet option does on PS3 to maybe have a rough idea where I want to put it, even though I'm sure the PS4 will improve the local range.

Hey Frisky, I wasn't trying to harp on you. I just found Limbo creepy and a bit scary (definitely some jump scares, and just general creepiness and gruesomeness) myself, so I was curious. That is all.

All these opinions about opinions are so opinionated. They're also wrong because my experience is the only one that counts.
I disagree!

In unrelated chatter, I broke down and paid full price for Thomas Was Alone. Terrific game. I'm really impressed with it so far.

I can almost overcome the shame of having paid full price...almost.

Thomas Was Alone was a pretty cool experience.  Simply looking at it as a game though, I found it a tad lackluster.

Still, I always like to see any indie dev on PS3 get supported, so good on ya for paying full price for it.

I'm confused. Do I have to spend $50 or can I spend $40 and they keep my $10 code? Also, can I use a PSN card to add to my wallet? And if I buy a PS plus card for $50 at Best buy and redeem it, that'll count towards the $50 right?

I think thats a good start. Let's see what other dumb questions get asked.
You have to spent $50 from your wallet. Adding $50 to your wallet does nothing, you have to purchase things. At the end of the promotion, they will send you a PSN message with $10 PSN codes for every $50 you spent on PSN, up to a maximum rebate of $100 ($500 spent)

If you buy a $50, 1 year PS+ card from best buy and redeem it, it will not count. You have to add $50 to your wallet, and then purchase a year of PS+ through the store for $49.99 (they round up the penny to $50 on PS+ 1 year purchase) for it to count toward the promotion.

Is Deadly Premonition worth it at that price? Just watched Twin Peaks awhile ago, so was curious about it.

I managed to find a preowned Killzone Mercenary in brand new condition at GS. Picked this game up for $25. Finally I can play it! The wait was killing me.
Nice pickup. I just started playing last night after having 0 exposure to it (didn't play the beta or anything). It's a lot of fun and I keep finding myself amazed that a handheld looks and plays this well.

PSA: There's going to be maintanance today so tons of stuff may be broken, but some things may work if you've recently logged in, they have weird exceptions like that.

But I can't spend $50 on the web store, right? It has to be on my PS3.

Yeah I learned to avoid sarcasm online a few years ago. The message is based on the readers comprehension and does not have the audio cues to indicate sarcasm as talking in person. Its too easy to have your message misunderstood.

You're absolutely right. It's hard to discern sarcasm unless the person immediately winks afterward.

Rockstar confirms microtransactions:

Reputation and Cash Flow: Reputation is earned from all your online exploits in everything you do in GTA Online – and will help you rank up, providing access to new features, weapons and criminal contacts. Spend cash you’ve gained on cars, clothes, guns, properties and much more. You can either quickly accumulate cash through profitable activities like knocking over armored cars, winning street races, doing stick-ups or a host of other cash-making endeavors – or if you’re the completely instant gratification type, you can choose to buy denominations of GTA$. You will have the option to purchase GTA$ through the in-game Store. The game and its economy have been designed and balanced for the vast majority of players who will not buy extra cash. There is no in-game paywall and nothing that should disrupt the balance of the game. You don’t have to spend real money to attain the cars, guns, clothes, flash and style of a high-roller in Los Santos, but can if you wish to get them a little quicker. The economy is balanced differently from the single player economy, and cash earned in one cannot be taken over to the other. Most players will earn cash much faster Online than in Story Mode.
Along with a hefty update on GTAO status:

Still not surprising.

I am a little disappointed that it's only going to be 16 people, the way they were building it up it was sounding like a small scale MMO where you might have 100 people in a world at a time. Maybe six years from now when GTAO2 comes out.
They'll probably up the count for next-gen/PC ports if those prove true. I actually don't mind the smaller number since I'm going to initially try and stick with people in my crew(s)/friendslist. Seems like they're placing a heaving emphasis on co-op rather than all out pvp.

Yeah, I think it will be fun still but I still like the idea of having enough players all kind of doing their own thing that you're not necessarily interacting all the time but you have those crazy moments where all the chaos spills over into each other.

I doubt Kingdom Hearts will hit PSN any time soon. For some reason, digital versions of most those games just don't exist.
Yeah there's something with the Disney license that doesn't allow SE to sell the KH games digitally. Hence why Birth By Sleep on PSP isn't on PSN for Vita.

if I queued up some downloads this morning around 9:30 central will the PSN maintenance stop those downloads in progress?

Worms Revolution Extreme for Vita is out on October 8 for $14.99 and the current sale on the PS3 version ends when Extreme launches:

Worms Revolution Extreme features an extensive single-player campaign spanning 72 levels in total, which are a mixture of missions and puzzles. Levels are set across seven different environmental themes, including Sewer, Farmyard, Spooky, Beach, Mars, Funfair, and Medieval!

Have you nailed the single player and think you’re ready to take on other players? You’ll be glad to know that there’s local and online multiplayer battles for up to four players! Choose from three different game modes: Deathmatch, Forts, or Classic, and either predefined or customized game settings.

New Treasure Mode! This all-new, cross-gifting mode enables you to link up with your friends who have a PS3 (or vice versa). You can help each other unlock 10 special gifts using a lock and key system. Meet the requirements in either offline versus or online battles to receive a key and connect to a friend’s PS3 with the corresponding chest to unlock the treasure! What will you unlock?

We’ve also utilized PS Vita’s touch controls and added in the ability to use the front touch screen to select items and pan/zoom the camera. You can also enable the rear touch pad to aim your weapons.

Worms Revolution Extreme lets you keep your worms mobile with cross-save functionality. Carry your PS3 save game progress over to your PlayStation Vita, or vice versa. Just reached a vital part in the campaign on PS3? Bring it to PS Vita so you can continue your quest on the bus/tube/train, and keep Don Keystone by your side!
didn't you just get on me for expressing my opinion?
Despite being one of the biggest trolls on CAG, you have awfully thin skin if you're still so bent out of shape over it. My post was an observation of what always happens and wasn't even referring to your post since it didn't exist while I was writing it, so you just happened to post the perfect example of that pet peeve of mine. If it really bothered you, then I apologize.

And no, he replied to my post and I replied back. Ain't nothing wrong with that. :booty:

Since I don't think this has really been posted, but the cashback promo effectively makes the PS+ 12 month sub $40 and those pre-order PS3 games and recent digital retail releases $50 instead of $60. I'd advise holding off on the PS+ sub until later in this month unless your sub ends soon since we're nearing the point where Sony will probably do some special deal for subs, like an extra three months, in the near future, so that could happen at some point in October. At worst, just wait until the end of the month to see if anything is announced.

Can anyone speak to the quality of Assassin's Creed 1 and Brotherhood on the PS3? I have 2&3 for the 360. I'm halfway through 1 on my PC but I just don't seem to be gaming on it much these days. I realize they can be had much cheaper than 13.99 but convenience wins on this one.

When I played AC back around launch, it had some issues that caused freezes and the ending sequence had crazy slowdown because they smartly decided to put every single villager in town in one place that you have to run through, though I don't know if the PSN version is any better.

AC Brotherhood runs fine, though not great. That's mostly been my experience with all Ubisoft Montreal games on PS3 and Xbox 360. Their Naruto games on Xbox 360 had major freeze issues and their PS3 stuff can also be weird.

If you have PS+, the Full Game Trial for Brotherhood will give you the best way to check it out for yourself to see if you like what you see.

Ok cool, Thanks for the info maybe I'll just finish off 1 on the PC and try the trial for Brotherhood.
