Noobie question for you guys. I just recently got a ps3. Its a 80 gb model. Its not backwards compatible. If I download the ps2 classics will they work since they are download games or can this unit not work on ps2 at all?

I have a feeling early PS4 adopters are going to see much better PSN card deals closer to launch/Q1 2014. $10 off is nothing. I get that price all the time. Same for XBL.

at least they patched the game so you can actually get the trophies now. when i played it at launch those trophies and others were glitched and unattainable.

also, i'll say again, to make the game in general and A+ grades way way easier always use the chameleon mask. dudes wont spot you down hallways, sometimes even in the same room. and their reaction to you is slower. run in and punch everyone (hopefully using the door to knock someone over), grab a weapon and ground execute a couple people, knock everyone back over and execute the next guy, repeat.

The downloadable ones work on all PS3s

Is there any way (other than looking through your download list and adding the prices yourself) to see how much you've spent towards the $10 back promotion?  I think I've spent really close to $100 (within $5) and would like to know if I need to buy one more thing in order to get to the next level of the promotion.  It would suck to spend $98 and just miss getting another $10 back.

Having the Wii version of Resident Evil 4 being my only RE experience, I'm having a hard time adapting to the PS3 controls for RE4. Keep trying to fully rotate the camera and having trouble aiming. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it, just felt like bitching.
I can relate. I think RE4 has some of the best controls on the Wii, but tried playing RE5, and couldn't even get past the first zombies. My brain just won't wrapping around the normal control set.

Against my better judgement, I've started playing my Vita again. Man, what an awesome machine...

But any thoughts on Lone Survivor? It's been a looooong time since I've played a good survival horror game.

Yep. PS2 classics have been reworked to be PS3 compatible.

Thanks. Well, after adding everything up it looks like I am $1.62 short. With the promotion ending on 10/29, does that mean that what you purchase on Tuesday will be part of the promotion? I'm assuming it does but I wonder if anyone knew for certain. I do plan on picking up Fatal Frame 2 that day.
Yes.

It’ll be all the way through the 29th; assume Pacific Time. Basically you have all day Tuesday, but if you can avoid it, best not to wait until 1 minute before midnight or anything ;)

It ends on Tuesday at 11:59pm. I'm not sure on the timezone, tbh, so be aware of that.

Hey, I was coming here to say that. Pain in the ass to keep track of, and it makes me wonder if the kills still count if you die after doing it.

I thought I was going to Platinum the game, but I changed my mind. I'm not in the mood to get all those trophies or try and A+ everything.

I remember some frequent-posting CAG member about a month ago insisting that Okamo HD would not get a sale because it already was for plus numbers in EU.

it's $7 now. Just came on here to say: suck it whoever you are!
Sick burn.

Nope, need to beat level lol.
Thanks, validated my decision not to go for the platinum. Damn, and I was looking forward to hitting 14 before you hit 140 too!

So I guess I'm done with Hotline Miami for now. It was a pretty good game, but certainly didn't live up to the massive hype I heard about it. 7.5/10 on the Tyler scale.

its not a very hard platinum, you should go for it!

Why play through the whole thing if you didn't like it?
It's terribly paced. Sometimes it's okay, and sometimes you're just waiting for it to end.

I wanted to finish it so I can have a full opinion on the game, and yeah, it was pretty damn terrible.

I got the trophy for these the second I did something I hadn't done before without having to beat the level. My last trophy was a ground kill with a machete, and as soon as the blood spilled the trophy popped. Easy plat for a great game.

I got Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate from Gamefly and it's really good so far after beating the first boss. They did a good job adapting that style of game to more of a 2.5D Metroidvania from what I've played.

If you skipped Dead Rising 2 but played and enjoyed DR1, I think OTR would be a good choice. I played on PC after playing DR2 on 360, so no experience with the series on PS3, but I really enjoy the games. OTR had more options to play at your own pace. If you don't enjoy Capcom-style crazy, best to pretend the games don't exist . . . but I'm a fan. Roll with the insane plot and it's a fun ride.

Yeah, I played a little of DR1 and enjoyed it but never really got into the series. I can get with the zany plot as long as the gameplay is there.

I enjoyed OTR quite a bit. OTR has Sandbox mode, which is like Inifinity mode for DR 1, except there is no health decay, it is truly free roam where you can get PP/level up and that carries over to story mode.

I think I got up to level 50 (maxed out) in sandbox mode before I even touched the story in OTR.

It is basically the same game as DR2, with Frank West instead of Chuck Green, a few different bosses, and a somewhat different story, a few new combo weapons, all set in the same location (with 2 location additions in OTR).
I'm still deciding but leaning towards picking it up. Thanks!

Glad you're enjoying it. It's definitely piqued my interest but the "meh" reviews have left me wondering if it's worth picking up for the Vita.

I agree. I had just found out it was a 2.5 platformer last week and was kinda disappointed, even some of the gameplay seemed like it was simple, but I really like it so far. Not to mention it looks really good on the Vita. Really like the touchscreen detective mode.

The meh reviews seem a bit hyper critical, but I guess that's their job. It's inspired by the console versions, but it's definitely it's own thing and they seem to be comparing it to the console versions (much like reviews did with Killzone Mercenary). I think Sony kinda screwed themselves by implying that the vita was a portable PS3 - instead of reviewers saying 'this is a really badass portable game' they say 'falls short of it's console counterpart.' *shrug*

If I had one complaint - spike strips. Why on earth..?

I am not sure if this has been asked, but the Sony site says that the "Sale of the Dead" offer ends 11/04.

Does anyone know if they are referring to 2 weeks of separate sales or if this week's sales will be on sale as well next week?

The previous Batman games were basically 3D stealth Metroid games, so I don't know why a 2.5D version of that is all of a sudden a bad thing.
Oh, it's a game I definitely want to be good and definitely want to enjoy. I just recall one review that stated you spend far too much time in detective mode and that the scanning is very tiresome/boring.

The impression it gave me was that there's more time spent using a gimmicky touch screen to scan than, say, exploring and fighting.

Does anyone know if dead island plays smoother as a download from psn compared to the disc? Love the game but the it's sooooo bad on disc it makes me cry

This is funny to me only because I spent around 75% of my time in the Arkham games in detective mode. They made it way too useful in all circumstances - finding paths, stealth, even big brawls. In Blackgate it feels a little more organic to the game i.e. you get stuck, tap the screen, swipe around until you find a green thing, hold down on green thing, oh look, I can use the batclaw on it.

I played the disc version of Dead Island and didn't have the urge to cry once. Were you playing during that time of the month?

I was referring to negative reviews with that remark.

It's definitely not true in the first hour that you spend more time scanning than fighting and exploring. The main thing I'm scanning for are obstacles that get noted in detective mode (doors, collectibles, item boxes, etc.) that just need to be scanned the first time before they're highlighted from then on. The detective mode thing is just a normal thing for the entire series, as it gives you useful information, but you can just use your finger in normal mode to sweep around the screen to see that stuff without switching over.

How soon did you play if after release? I played it a few months after release and with the all the patches that had come out by then I had zero issue with the game on disc.

The Walking Dead Episodes 2-5 are showing up as Free on PSN Store but when you try to download it says "Unable to download at this time". Is this some kind of error? XD I'd love to get it for free, already own the game on 360.

If only someone thought to put these details in the OP. One day Frisky will get his act together. :)

Against my better judgement, I've started playing my Vita again. Man, what an awesome machine...

But any thoughts on Lone Survivor? It's been a looooong time since I've played a good survival horror game.
ive only played the first chapter or so so far, but it is definitely really really creepy and atmospheric. i definitely recommend checking it out.

Just wanted to throw out a reminder. The Dark Souls 2 Beta is tonight 10/26 11:00PM PDT - 10/27 2:00AM PDT for all those that got in.
