I don't listen to any gaming podcasts, but i do listen to some other podcasts. They are great for commutes and exercise. I use to listen to the CAGcast, but they are so juvenile. I really don't need to hear about Cheapy's attempts to take a shit. However I do follow Shipwreck on twitter, because he is funny and he isn't so MS biased. Maybe they have changed, but I haven't had any interest in trying it again.

They haven't really changed. They spend at least 20-30 minutes a show (not usually continuous time, but overall) being juvenile. I like Shipwreck as well, he seems to be the most mature of the bunch (despite being the youngest) while Wombat and Cheapy talk about poop and balls. It's enough to make me not want to listen to it around others.

I guess I should pop that to the top of my list! I've only played the original Trine and I found it ... ok. Is 2 a noteworthy improvement?
No, I enjoyed the original a lot more. I'm not sure why, they're basically the exact same game. I think I found Trine 2 too easy compared to the original.

I'm guessing Sine Mora will be this week's free game for +? Process of elimination FTW

Really excited for tomorrow's sales, some great stuff, especially fatal frame 1 and 2 for 2 bucks

Gotta be quick tomorrow so it can count towards the buy $50, get $10 promo.

Unless it ends at 12:01am on 10/29 and not 11:59pm on 10/29. I couldn't find that on the fine print.

Probably a dumb question, but is there any way to pre-load Puppeteer before the sale? Demo, Plus workaround? If not, I'll have to download overnight tomorrow and won't be playing til Wednesday. Not a big deal, but I wants to play the puppets.

Currently in my cart

(1) Dead Nation (already owned it in a another account but thought I'll consolidate)
(2) The Last Guy (already owned it in my Asia PSN account but yea consolidate)
(3) The Walking Dead Season Pass (got it on Steam.. lol)

anything else I should get?
on Vita?

You have all day tomorrow. Is supposed to end at 11:59PM PST on 10/29. If you wait until 11:58PM to buy the rest of the stuff and don't do it as soon as the store updates then you're going to be rightly ridiculed.

You are allowed to download each game to two different consoles with your account. If you dont currently share with anyone, you can just log in with your second account and download the game to save yourself the money.

oh. I have them on my PS3. hmm just wondering if I want to stick to one account.

To those that have played Costume Quest, is it an appropriate game for a five-year-old to play? His gaming experience is basically original Mario, Lego Batman, and watching me play Unfinished Swan. Want to expand his horizons and CQ looks pretty kid friendly.

Yeah, would probably be a great game for him. You'll probably have to work with him on the turn based combat but I'm pretty sure that game is entirely kid-friendly.

costume quest is almost like final fantasy. there is a good amount of reading and menu based combat iirc. it may be a little advanced, but next year it might be perfect. if you help him play you can help him in places he might get stuck. there are a lot of things you have to do to progress in each level.

The combat is about as simple as an RPG gets-- even simpler than Pokemon-- so that shouldn't be an issue. As long as he can read, go for it.

Shouldn't the auto aim in Hotline Miami target the closest enemy? It always seems like when I hit square, it targets a guy half way across the map, instead of the guy standing right next to me, so I have to use the stick to switch, which usually results in that guy right next to me seeing me and killing me.

I think it's heavily based on where the cursor is, so even if the guy happens to be further away if your cursor is more aimed in his general direction it'll go for him. Kind of like playing spin the bottle and it lands in the middle of two people and it's closer to an attractive lady, but everybody else says that since it's in the middle of two people you have to kiss whatever is between them, and it happens to be a cactus.

As far as Podcasts go I'm a Podcadt Beyond, Game Scoop and PS Blogcast fan. Listen to them every now and then at work when I'm doing the more mundane weekly tasks.

Has Sony done a Black Friday digital sale the past few years? I don't remember last years.

podcasts are great for commutes and background noise at the gym

cagcast is alright but the bombcast is the only gaming podcast i listen to every week

If you're playing on Vita, just use the touch screen instead, it's much more practical. I imagine this would be a big annoyance on PS3, though, based on my limited use of Square for targeting.

And on podcasts, I'm pretty sure they're more prevalent than ever and aren't going away. I real love the CAGCast in part because they treat it like a radio show, address the listeners, and don't generally talk over one another. I've tried the Giant Bombcast, and its just 2 hours of them hanging out, I can't get into it.

Lol at this thread basically being a Hotline Miami tutorial for the past several pages.

This thread has made me question my gaming cred since I was stuck on an early chapter 2 or 3 board for a long time and everyone else is breezing through. I'm locking on and everything, but always get found out and murder/death/killed.

It's really hard at first, but get's easier. There was one level, 9 I think, that really pissed me off. I'd clear the whole room, and then cops showed up and murdered me. I couldn't seem to kill them no matter how hard I tried. Eventually I just booked it to the car and ran past them.

While I don't like the music, and the gameplay is frustrating most of the time, I'm really liking the story. I hope it ends up having a cool twist or something.

Overall, I'd say it's not an awful gaming sequel to the Miami Vice TV show. Not as bad as I originally claimed.

I'm in the same boat except I'm on Chapter 5 or 6 now.

I'll just say, prepare for disappoint.

Decided to blind buy both corpse parties, the house of the dead bundle even though I own overkill already (is it my imagination or is it missing from the weekly deals tab on the website, only shows up when I click sale of the dead), and the 400 days Walking Dead DLC.

I finally tried Hotline a couple nights ago, but only for a short time. Still it seems good so far, but I did keep dying at one point and then I quit that session. I think once I get the hang of it it will be pretty cool.

You never get the hang of Hotline Miami. Hotline Miami gets the hang of you.

I know others chimed in already and they're right that it's a perfect game for kids who can read. I thought about getting my nephew into it a couple years ago but he couldn't read yet so I decided to wait. I love that game and definitely recommend it.

I picked up RE4 and CVX and TWD 400 Days DLC and with my previous purchases that puts me about $2 short of $50. I'll buy Dead Space 1 to put me over. I'm tempted to pick up DS2 as well but I'm such a scaredy cat that I'm not even sure I could make it through DS1. Gotta take baby steps.

Hotline can't be that hard because I was able to beat it.  Granted I think I got one A+ grade on Chinese restaurant in the epilogue, and I probably averaged a C grade.

Personally I thought one was way scarier than two.

I've said it over and over since it came out: Hotline Miami is a reflex based murder puzzle sim and you're doing it wrong otherwise.

Does anybody know at what point they will round up to $50? I'm 48 cents away, but I can't find anything that costs less than .49.
Why would they round and give you free money? Next you're going to tell me you're Batman.

One is definitely the scariest and most psychological. Two has it's moments but each sequel got more polished mechanics that in my opinion killed a lot of the true horror of it. By three it was basically Gears of Space. By far the best from a mechanical standpoint and by far the one I enjoyed the least. Then again I liked that the first game was in many ways a modern Resident Evil.

Why'd you have to tell me that? Lol. I guess if I can make it through DS1 without a heart attack then DS2 and 3 will be a breeze.

I just didn't know they were still popular, because I don't listen to any.
They've probably grown in popularity. The conditions seem set for it. More people have smartphones (with data plans). Less people use traditional radio and TV. I get what you were trying to say, though, lol...it's not the "thing" or buzzword it was 5 years ago.

I'll have to check this one out. The only gaming podcast I can handle is the Cagcast. They at least talk the whole time and usually stay on topic. I listened to IGN once and had to turn it off within the first 10 minutes. They spent more time cracking themselves up than actually talking about games. I have no patience for that.
Yep, agreed. I feel like Bombcast is that way, too. It isn't necessarily a bad thing, just not my style. CAGcast seems to at least have some sense of urgency.

Bingo. Shipwreck is ok (only ok), the other two are way too fond of MS for my liking. I don't listen to the CAGcast, but just based on their twitter feeds, nothing has changed.
Well, the latest episode was my first, and it seemed pretty mild. @Shipwreck just had a baby so that opened up the window a bit for the shit and skidmark jokes. I have no clue where you guys are coming from with the "xbox bias", lolol. I presume it resides somewhere next to your Polygon files? Oh well. It's funny you mention that, though, because they did discuss the undeniable PS4 bias over at GAF.

It's age appropriate. The battles and their accompanying cut-scenes are charming. There isn't any voice acting, but the text is really simple. He'll probably love it, so I'd say go for it.

Thanks for the feedback on Costume Quest. Think I'll grab it as my final push over $50 instead of some Zen Pinball table like I was going to. My boy is just starting to read now, but I'll play with him and can help him out. I'm looking forward to checking it out.

I highly doubt there is any PS4 bias on NeoGAF.

I think the thing is, Microsoft fanboys aren't used to getting made fun of so they have very thin skin when it comes to it.  Joystiq has been accused of an anti-Microsoft bias because they posted an article that was basically all a quotation from some Microsoft employee and it was all bad news.

I really, really can't tell if you're being serious.

I can't speak for everywhere, but there is clearly a strain of anti-xbox over at GAF. Nearly every MS thread in recent months has been negative. I'm not saying MS didn't bring a lot on itself with its terrible messaging, but the amount of vitriol towards them is nauseating. How quickly people forget how eeeevil Sony was only 2-3 years ago.

If you're playing on Vita, just use the touch screen instead, it's much more practical. I imagine this would be a big annoyance on PS3, though, based on my limited use of Square for targeting.
It's fine on PS3, as you hold down one trigger to look around and the other to set your lock-on. If you're looking to specifically lock-on to a certain enemy, the trigger lock-on is the best way to do it.
