A month ago I learned developers can see on Steam if their games are in people's wish lists. It made me wonder if that's also true for PSN. Which made me wonder if keeping a wish list is a bad idea. A publisher might see there is a good amount of interest in a game, and decide not to put it on sale.

A possible reason Night Trap goes on sale on one platform but not the other is the publisher knows the interest levels on each platform, and only puts it on sale where interest is low.

My guess was that the publisher forgot to check a box when listing the game. “Check box to allow game to go on sale after X months at a frequency of Y with a discount of Z.” The box never got checked, so the game never goes on sale.

My wish list is ONLY there to help me watch for sales, so my assumption is the exact opposite of yours. Maybe other people use their list different than mine, but i've never used a wish list for any other purpose on any website. Therefore, based on this premise, a publisher should look at those lists and see that people want their game but are waiting for the price to go down and then decide whether or not they want to lower the price.

At this point I doubt it'll ever happen since Sony seems to be in Arrogant Mode, but I'd love to see a Wishlist Sale on PSN.

I've had the opposite thought, actually. If devs see that their game has been sitting on a lot of people's wishlists for a long time, that may prompt them to put their game on sale in order to get those possible purchases, since people obviously aren't buying them at regular price if it's sitting in their list.

 
Yeah; if it's in your wishlist, that means you want it but you're holding off for some reason. It would be wiser to discount a game that *is* on a lot of wishlists.
 
Or more likely, they don’t give a shit either way.

I just restructured my wishlist by deleting everything and starting from scratch. I had to arbitrarily choose 100 of my “most wanted” out of a total 212 games. It’s just so inconvenient going back and forth through all my notes to keep up on sales that never happen anyway.

On a separate but related note, remember how excited we used to get when a new PlayStation Store newsletter would slide into our inbox every Friday or whenever? And then we would scour them all the way to the bottom for possible discount codes tucked away at the very end? Every time there's a new one, I still scroll all the way down out of habit, but with absolutely zero confidence.

I used to use the PS store wishlist to help track sales on ~90 items of interest, but I was suddenly unable to add any new titles despite deleting dozens of purchased items.  Never found a solution.  Annoying, but no big loss.  Psprices serves my needs.

2 out of 500+ is a pretty wide margin. There have been times in the past where I maxed out 2+ carts (though, I did have discount codes to further motivate me). I’d consider a good sale to contain new and unique items at record lows, rather than the same old shit at middling prices. In the past 6 months, I think the most I’ve bought at one time was two shitty games from the retro sale. Considering this is a deals thread, I think we’re allowed to express disappointment when the discounts and selection have been this consistently bad.

I'm not complaining about people complaining, however, I do think it's amusing that part of the problem is that some of us have purchased so much stuff that we can't see many of the deals as deals because we already own them.

Fair enough. If you’ve been here long enough, you’ve probably bought all you wanted from previous sales already. I’m talking about those of us who have over 100 items on our wishlist that either haven’t been offered or haven’t fallen within our “range” yet, many of which have never been discounted before. I think we’d know a good sale if we saw one.

Sony rewards seemed to finally update again, for me at least. I think it might be once a month? Hard to tell. But anyway, for some reason after 2 years of no luck Trial Blazer finally completed for me and I got the 15% off coupon lol. It had always been stuck on 3/4 of the tasks. I dont really trophy hunt but i do like plat'ing games i enjoy. Has anyone else noticed trophy guides are way worse than they used to be, especially for anything not aaa? I suppose this might be a good thing as people are no longer as trophy hungry, but jt still sucks if you're cleaning up a game.

I feel like finding a good guide for an indie or more niche title has always been pretty hit or miss to be honest. Always ends up with me on some random barely filled wiki or on Steam since people actually use the guide feature there.

Also unsure which site you usually check but it feels like most of the trophy community prefers psnprofiles these days over anything else. I end up finding a lot of guides on there that aren't on playstationtrophies. Or worse yet is you go to the forum on playstationtrophies and there is a perfectly good guide sitting there but no one on staff or whatever has converted it into a guide. That site in general does not feel very well maintained anymore.

I've had some good luck using Neoseeker for game guides lately. They have some decent walkthroughs that include trophy/achievement guides. They cover some mixture of games including indie titles.

I used them recently to help clean up my first playthrough of Timespinner. They had the maps so I could figure out what I missed to get 100% map completion. They don't have everything but they are not bad alternative to the large sites like PSN Profiles, PSN Trophies and True Trophies. None of these sites had any guides for Timespinner.
