So, yesterday I thought that GTAV was supposed to be free for PS+ members. Was that only yesterday? Because every single version of the game is showing a price for me. Was it one day only, and I missed out?
 
GTAV never was available for free on PS. What will be free is the in game money everyday or something till they launch on the PS5. Then on PS5 for current owners of GTAV on PS4 you get GTA Online for free. That's what I think at least.

I saw where it was confirmed as an expansion, and a remaster with new tech, but didn't see where it won't be for PS4. It would not surprise me though, as it would give a solid reason for an upgrade, especially early on as many of the heavy hitters were 2021 and beyond.

The games looked fantastic, but other than knowing they will probably be pushing native 4k and higher framerates, just not seeing a reason to upgrade for a couple years until we get some price drops. I'm gonna want one for sure eventually though. Once the new Horizon hits it is going to be hard to resist.

 
I'm wondering how all-in they will be on the no-disc model or if its just a ploy to have a lower price point. I'm assuming most people will want the disc model. As they become cheaper to produce or when the inevitable hardware revision occurs, the all-digital model will probably be discontinued.

$400 would be great, but it seems unlikely given they are still selling PS4 Pro models for the same price, 6 months before launch.

Re: Sony and MS playing MSRP chicken, I think MS is probably in a better position to go low and make up the difference later, and have more of a history of doing this in the name of competition. Phil Spencer is also less concerned with sales numbers and is more focused on user engagement, so who knows?

I have no interest in a disc model. I think you're underestimating the interest in a no disc drive system. I haven't put a disc in my systems in years.

You may be right, I tend to buy more digital games myself out of convenience. Will be interesting to see what happens.

 
I bought rechargeable AA batteries once when I was in college, thinking I'd be saving money by not having to keep spending on disposables. They were fine at first, but they drain so damn quickly. I could put two AA disposables in my walkman have them last probably two weeks, but the rechargeable needed charging after maybe two days. Wasn't worth the hassle to me.  Put them aside in a shoebox and went back to the disposables.  A couple years later, opened the shoebox and found the batteries were physically disintegrating.  Will never go back to rechargeable.

Eneloop and other quality nimh rechargeable have a very low discharge rate and operate very close to disposables. Your thinking here is similar to if you bought a cheap Chinese game console, it didn't match the hype and quality of the big 3 so you blew off home consoles forever and returned to the arcade.

I could put two AA disposables in my walkman have them last probably two weeks, but the rechargeable needed charging after maybe two days. Wasn't worth the hassle to me. Put them aside in a shoebox and went back to the disposables. A couple years later, opened the shoebox and found the batteries were physically disintegrating. Will never go back to rechargeable.

So once you bought crappy rechargeable batteries and now you've sworn off them for good? That makes sense. Hopefully you never get a bad meal you might never eat again.
 
I had old rechargeables and have eneloops as well. The difference is night and day between them. I do feel my eneloops sometimes don't keep a charge as long as I want, but they work and I do like less waste. Old rechargeables pretty much had to be recharged shortly after and really didn't hold a charge well at all. Not worth comparing them.

Your argument might hold water if I picked up some crappy knock-off batteries, but I'm the type of person who always goes for the best option. I'm pretty sure I picked up Energizers.

If you bought from Amazon there is a chance you could have gotten knock offs.

This was in 1996, I'm not sure Amazon was around at the time (and if they were, I wasn't on it -- I hadn't even gotten a computer yet.)

The quality of rechargeable batteries from 1996 is vastly inferior to the ones of today. I recommend Panasonic Eneloop (and the Amazon/Ikea rebrands). They work wonders. Two of those in my Xbox One last longer than a charge of a ps4 controller I bought last December.

 
I'm thinking about grabbing a year of PSNow for my kids account. Is the current deal on PSN about the norm for how discounted it gets?

I bought Eneloops with my Day one Xbox One, and they're still going strong, so another recommendation for those

You mentioned college and using them in a walkman. How many years (Decades?) ago was this? I have Eneloops but use them eleswhere.

Nyko battery packs (and one Best Buy branded one) in my XBox One Controllers. They work great. Never really timed how long the last but never had a controller die on me in a gaming session either.

Miles Morales is probably better off being stand alone because they won't expect a full $60 for it at launch but they need to come out and tell us how backwards compatibility is going to work. I've held off playing a number of first party games like Spider-Man and Horizon (and will do the same with TLOU2 and Ghost) because I'm assuming they will be enhanced in some way on PS5. They even showed off the PS5 for the first time with Spider-Man but who knows if the fast travel benefit is just from running off a SSD or because they did some work on it.

 
Apparently some here feel very strongly about how batteries should be used.   I use both rechargeable and disposable batteries and that is not changing for me anytime soon.

 
If Sony would have given the option to completely turn off the lights on the Dual Lights controller, the charge would last longer.
