Never too late. I've been converting my entire library and basically broke even or made money on all the physical games I have sold. Since PS5 is right around the corner, it is worth it to go full digital on next gen IMO,

So my take-aways were they should have delayed until 2021. They have nothing for this year and no incentive for me to get a console. Demon's Souls was my last holdout but they didn't even give a launch window, so they don't know when it will be done apparently (game looked pretty done to me :dunce: ).

PS+ collection shows that they were caught off-guard by the massive success of GPU and I can't fault them for at least trying. They have a LOT of ground to regain and I'm sure they will, but they're far behind as per usual.

Again, they should have delayed to 2021 and I would have respected both companies if they had made that tough decision, but I think them foolish for pushing these out the door now. People will claim victory when these things sell like crazy, but the reality is--they were the ones that lost this year.

 
demons souls is either a pre-recorded trailer (it is) or they made it look godly-good with lousy gameplay animations. either that or they made that video using debug mode

even if theyres a modest puddlegate-esque graphics nerf as they iron out the kinks, itll still look like the most next gen they showed

Hmm... I'm a bit worried that the cheapest model is a full $100 more than the cheapest Xbox. And with xCloud/Game Pass, you don't even really need to invest in a console to play new games when they launch. Maybe Xbox still won't surpass PS in Q rating, but I think they're about to become a household name much like PS and Nintendo already are.

I'm reminded each and every time internet goes out for whatever reason exactly why all digital is a bad idea. I'm perfectly happy with not owning my games digitally, as long as it's part of a paid sub allowing me access to them.

sony is playing up their exclusives because microsoft is willing to take a much bigger hit selling their consoles at a loss. they want that marketshare back

also, i know this isnt a good thread to praise xbox in, but unless you live in japan..etc. xbox is definitely a household name already

Demon's souls looks great no doubt. Launch title makes it even better.

As for all digital edition only $100 cheaper? Nope no thanks. The amount of deals you can get on physical games will save you that $100 several times over the life of a console.

And yes, fingers crossed this thing doesn't sound like I'm on the runway at LAX!!
 
You can either pay $700 or $1000 and still get the next gen experience on both consoles if you want, use GamePass to play all first and third party Xbox titles (as usual) and then buy the first party exclusives on PS5. Buy the cheaper PS4 and Xbox One versions of games for the free next gen upgrades. And, let your Switch collect dust in the corner until Pikmin 3 comes out.

It goes both ways because for $100 less, you get the equivalent of an X1X but with this generation capability (not too shabby, but not futureproofed). For $400, you get the same hardware as the $500 PS5 model, but absolutely no recourse if you want to borrow a game from a friend or have physical. People will go with their budget or needs as a priority.

At least they didn't let it slip away. Back when Guitar Hero was exclusive to PS2, Sony had a chance to buy the franchise. Phil Harrison passed on it.
 
I'm probably just old, but the soon to be released generation of consoles is the first generation I am largely indifferent on since I got an NES for Christmas in 1986.

Truly. Them slapping Sony Studios on the title screen though. . .I refuse to give them credit other than investing in a proven IP. Let's see them do a Demon's Souls 2 and THEN we can see.

Destruction All Stars is also $69.99 and Spiderman Miles Morales is $49.99. is that because it's a super short game or something?
 
So $69.99 going to be AAA price going forward? Now to buy more niche games whenever they come out. Just going to be more of a cheap ass.

Not unexpected, but now EA can't be blamed as the badguy anymore. This was going to happen this generation and they were just the first through the wall. I fully expect this to be the norm now.

I'm pre-ordering everything still $59.99 that I want for PS5 now. Can always cancel later but can't get that pricing back.

Oh yeah, said it months ago but $70 games just means I am waiting for more price drops on stuff. Only a few games I'd be willing to pay that price for.

Out of curiosity how did Sony snubb Demon Souls? I remember them shutting down the servers before I got to play it but it wasn't really my type of game back then. Bloodborne is the tits though and one of my games of the generation.
