This isn’t their first game. It’s not ridiculous to recognize the fan service and consumer love they’ve given in the past and appreciate their response where other game developers say absolutely nothing. I can also take that reputation to assume they’ll right the ship.

But they're not even compensating the people who want refunds. They released that statement, but today during the investors call already admitted that they have no deal with Sony and Microsoft to give people back their money outside of the normal refund rules they normally have. So really they just gave a false statement and tried to pass the responsibility to Sony and Microsoft themselves.

And for real, what consumer love? They release great games with no micro transactions. That's all. It doesn't mean they're above being greedy or spouting out bullshit like any other company.

But sure, in the more restrictive sense that "microtransactions" have come to mean, they don't.

And that's kind of enough in 2020. I mean, what other AAA games, other than first-party titles, are free of microtransactions?

I got one, but I'm not proud of how... When the customer service rep told me that there would be updates coming in January and February to make it playable, I implied that I would be unable to use those updates on account of a... terminal condition.

I honestly regret it, it was such an awful thing to do, but it did work.

I'm willing to bet that there will be microtransactions in the multiplayer portion of CP 2077 that CDPR were planning. It may be just cosmetics only, but giving that Genshin from Tencent makes $7 million per day ($2.55 billion/yr) with $2500 character purchase that doesn't do much, there's too much money to be made for CDPR to pass up on M$T.

Devs have pointed out online that cert isn't the same as QA. Cert is concerned with "will running this game break the console and are things like buttons and proprietary things written correctly"

A game can be buggy and pass cert if the console doesn't brick just because your controller disconnected while playing or it tried to access a hard drive without a fatal error.

Much like the refunds, it sounds like CDPR is trying to pass that buck to Sony and MS and people are absolutely taking that bait too in the hunt for accountability
 
The refund is for the digital version of the game through MS or PSN store fronts. If you bought the physical version that is between you and where you bought it from. Amazon may let you keep it but most likely will say "Sorry opened, no give backs". Once a refund is issues on a digital game PSN or MS remove the license from your account and is no longer accessible to play. It will be in your library but have a lock on it requiring you to purchase it again. 

As for those who are asking how to get a refund through PSN, well that is totally up to the agent you receive. I guess the EU has a more consumer protection policies in place so it is a bit easier. In the US, PSN will give you ONE exception to their policy, beyond that once it is downloaded all bets are off. Joke's on you if you preload it. I had my PSN version refunded Saturday and the agent repeatedly told me this would be my ONE TIME EXCEPTION and confirmed this would be a good use of it. Other folks were posting on Reddit they were being denied but tried again later and were approved. 

How did I do it? I told them it was buggy, not loading textures, locking up, and/or crashing. All true. I also only had an hour of playtime on my copy. They asked if I had it patched up, I said yes and issues persisted. Total time with the agent was maybe 10 minutes before they approved the refund.

I know for a fact cert in the Xbox 360 days included things like framerates. While the player was pulling out controllers and etc and your game was playing, it isn't supposed to drop frames. They also run it for days-on-end without reboot, and it's supposed to remain completely playable without dropping frames. It certainly has to be able to run without crashing completely, which Cyberpunk 2077 cannot. Cyberpunk 2077 clearly wouldn't have passed the standards of certification that were around in the Xbox 360 days, and I'm 100% certain that it failed certification at least due to crashing now as well.

It's possible certification has become way less robust since Xbox 360, but I do not believe that Cyberpunk 2077 would have passed certification on Xbox One or PS4, were it rigorously applied. Yes, you're correct that Cert is not the same as rigorous playtesting for things like gameplay bugs, but it does address performance on the system, which clearly CB2077 would have failed on the last gen systems. Clearly they had the opportunity to reject the game at this stage, but didn't for some reason.

I don't know who you're talking about, but I'm blaming CDPR for putting out a game on a console it doesn't run on. Once you've acknowledged that, and you're knowledgeable enough to know what the certification process entails and that CB2077 on the last gen consoles clearly would have failed it, you have to ask why that happened and what that bodes for the future of console gaming. I am not talking about certification because CDPR told me to, I brought it up long before I saw anything from CDPR addressing the question.

I'm pretty much 100% certain that CP2077 must have failed the current certification process at least due to crashing, and I'm sure that what must have happened is that they applied for a waiver, promising to fix the crashing with a day-one patch. Launching the game without a patch to fix the crashing was clearly a disaster and either CDPR is going to be held accountable, or the future of console gaming itself is in serious question. My money is on Sony, at least, holding them accountable for failing on the waiver and still releasing the game. I wouldn't be surprised if financial regulatory agencies go after CDPR for their false statements to investors as well. A big fiasco, with all the attendant lawsuits, is coming.

With the cyberpunk debacle, I need something to play now, and was thinking of buying Death Stranding. Is it worth the current $19.99 price, or will it become a PS Plus game a few months down the road? Is it really just a postman walking simulator, or are there just that many haters of it?

I could definitely see this one being a PS+ title down the line. I played a few hours and the gameplay really wasn't for me. I really would like to get back into it to see the story through though.
 
Well if anyone was looking for a reason to get mad at CDPR, they’ve reversed their decision to release Taiwanese game Devotion (which had been taken down everywhere last year after the Chinese government decided they didn’t like it) on their PC storefront due to pressure from “gamers.”

I’m sure the fact that they’ve just released the most hyped game of the year and they don’t want complications in China affecting its sales have nothing to do with it.

Yeah, I would never buy a digital game on PSN unless there was no other option (physical) that I wasn't 100% sure I wanted. In fact the only two games that come to mind are Ghost of a Tale and Demon's Souls Deluxe that I've ever bought on there. Sony is just trash in the CS department and I don't ever want to be in the position of losing money to them.

I bought it for $20 in this sale. I've only played a bit but I'm enjoying it so far. You really are a post-apocalyptic delivery person, though the apocalypse in this case is quite different from your usual zombie or nuclear scenario. Also, it's a Kojima game so you have to be OK with a lot of cutscenes/story (ala Metal Gear Solid). There's definitely a stealth element since you are more or less defenseless in the beginning. I haven't gotten far enough in it yet to be able to tell you more though.

I honestly felt like I got my money's worth paying full price for the collector's edition. I really loved it. For a while it seemed like you either loved it or hated it but it's been out long enough now that plenty of people are somewhere in between. There's much more to do than just walking - but that's not to say there isn't a lot of walking. There is. you'll walk a lot. Especially in the beginning. once you reach the middle to end chapters vehicles become (at least in my experience) the primary mode of transportation though I suppose that also depends on how you play it. it has tons of lore and cutscenes a plenty. I personally loved the story and think it's only gotten better as the pandemic has happened. The combat is... Average but there. The stealth I enjoyed and it's got lots of management type stuff if you're into that. I loved it and for $20 I'd say it's a steal. But it really hit every box I wanted it to. It does drag a bit in the middle mountain region. It's definitely a slower game so don't go into it expecting a fast paced action oriented game
 
Anyone have any insight into Cyberpunk performance on PS5 vs Series X right now? It seemed like Series X was struggling due to poor optimization on a few of Ubisoft’s recent releases. How is the performance looking for Cp?

Digital Foundry did a video. The takeaway according my memory...

XSX & PS5 seem to run it just as well, but XSX has had more work put into its release. PS5 only runs the PS4 Pro version at 60 FPS while XSX has more options and higher crowd density for its version, but suffers more framerate drops for it. IIRC it has a performance and a quality mode. XSS runs it at 30 FPS 1440P VERY stable.

When people say shit like that about a deal they got that sounds too good to be true, 90% of the time it's part of some promo combination or gift cards, and ultimately the information is utterly useless to everyone else.

The fact they're straight up delisting it is actually kind of crazy, has anything like that ever happened before with such a high profile game?

Not that I don't think they should, it's just honestly shocking.
