I figure, if anything I desperately want happens to get a massive PS+ discount, I'll just buy a 3 month card and roll with it.
The price on the RE DLC is so tempting! I'm giving serious thought to picking up RE5 again
i haven't compared the discs closely, but doesn't the RE5 Gold Edition pretty much include everything on sale, and can't it be gotten pretty cheaply nowadays?

Yeah it does, but a friend of mine has the regular version of RE5 so i'll just get it from him. The only DLC i really want to play is Lost in Nightmares, but i think i want to replay the entire game so i'll probably just pick up Desperate Escape as well

Has there been some sort of change recently to the "download to the background" option? Every time I try to download to the background, it says I have to install the thing I'm downloading first in order to use the function. Basically, I'm stuck on the download screen until it finishes or I cancel the download.

I just want to play my PS3 games and download something from the PSN at the same time. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks ahead.

Not I. I d/l'd a couple of demos and the new Qore in background this morning. I think it's entirely dependent upon the specific content as to whether PSN will allow you to d/l in background. For certain things (and my recollection is that it's mostly things like themes) you'll get a message stating that it cannot be downloaded in the background.

Think that happens when you have too many uninstalled downloads in the XMB. Install / Clean Up your existing downloads and the error should stop.

Gold added Move support too. The vanilla version doesn't support it.

This.

I don't remember if this number is right, but I want to say you have 15 uninstalled items sitting on your XMB. Install some.

I used to do this with free DLC for games I didn't actually own yet because I was unsure at the time if downloading the DLC before installing the game would cause problems, and I wanted them on my HDD instead of having to find them in that horrible download list. Now I know it doesn't and Sony now allows you to download the items from their purchase pages, and there really is no reason to leave items uninstalled. Either install them, or buy them but don't download them until you need them.

The download list is still horrible, though. :)

Interesting...I have a lot of items paused/waiting to be downloaded. Ugh...it over 5 hours just to download Borderlands. I think I'm just going to go with the disc version and just get the DLC for cheap.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/08/05/psnplay/

A new Summer of Arcade-esque promotion was announced called PSN Play:
We’re excited to introduce a new PlayStation Network event: PLAY. PLAY is a brand-new annual program, where we’re bringing you four of the season’s hottest PlayStation Network action titles. With every purchase of a PLAY title in the PlayStation Store throughout the duration of the program, you’ll receive a separate piece of DLC for each game, plus a new theme with every pre-order. If these incentives aren’t enough, if you’re 18 years or older and purchase all four PLAY titles in the PlayStation Store, you’ll get a voucher code for PAYDAY: The Heist as a bonus gift. And, PlayStation Plus subscribers will get an automatic 20% off every purchase.

Pre-orders will be available for all four PLAY titles starting next week on August 9 in the PlayStation Store. Remember, in order to qualify to receive PAYDAY: The Heist as a bonus gift, your purchases must be made by September 19, 2011.

PlayStation Network PLAY is going to be an annual program. Here is the 2011 line-up:

August 23: The PLAY program kicks off with Capcom’s highly-anticipated Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition, available to pre-order through August 18, 2011. This action-fighting title features 20 playable characters, HD graphics, more than 200 pieces of unlockable content, more than 100 trials and more than 100 challenges. When Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition is purchased during the PLAY promotion, purchasers will be able to unlock GILL, the self-proclaimed god, without having to beat the game with every character, as day-one DLC. All pre-orders will also receive a Capcom-produced theme. Street Fighter III Third Strike Online Edition will be $14.99.

August 30: Hothead Studios’ The Baconing will be available to pre-order through August 25, 2011. This action-RPG title is the third in the popular DeathSpank series. Attempt to defeat the Anti-Spank and his army of Cyborques, before they cast an evil shadow over Spanktopia. Discover exciting new worlds and battle hordes of enemies as you search to unlock the secret within the Fires of Bacon. When The Baconing is purchased during the PLAY promotion, purchasers will receive an additional co-op character, Roesha – One Bad Mutha. All pre-orders will also receive a static theme, exclusive to PLAY. The Baconing will be $14.99.

September 6: Majesco Entertainment’s BloodRayne: Betrayal will be available to pre-order through September 1, 2011. This 2D side-scrolling platformer features 15 bloodthirsty levels where Rayne attempts to infiltrate a treacherous castle, take out a fiendish horde and stop an evil vampire massacre. When BloodRayne: Betrayal is purchased during the PLAY promotion, purchasers will receive a BloodRayne: Betrayal virtual item for their PlayStation Home avatar and an exclusive dynamic theme. In addition, all pre-orders will also receive a static theme exclusive to PLAY. BloodRayne: Betrayal will be $14.99.

September 13: The SEGA title Renegade Ops will be available to pre-order through September 8, 2011.This top-down, driving shooter from SEGA features a huge variety of vehicles, guns and endless enemies. The game features Sandbox-style missions, so there are many different ways to play. When Renegade Ops is purchased through PLAY, purchasers will receive a Vehicle & Character Pack with two new vehicles and special weapons. All pre-orders will also receive a static theme, exclusive to PLAY. Renegade Ops will be $14.99.

Bonus gift: PAYDAY: The Heist. This gritty, first-person shooter from Sony Online Entertainment lets players take on the role of a hardened career criminal executing intense, dynamic heists in constant pursuit of the next “big score.” A voucher code for PAYDAY: The Heist will be provided as a bonus gift to PSN users 18 years and older that purchased all four PLAY titles, for redemption when the game releases. The game can also be pre-ordered separately starting September 20, 2011, and all pre-orders will receive a static theme. PAYDAY: The Heist will be $19.99.

What gamer doesn’t want to get more action? Get ready because PlayStation Network PLAY pre-orders start next Tuesday, August 9.

Wow those dlc offers are weak, i was hoping for real dlc like section 8 was bundled with real dlc w trophies, all of this stuff is early game unlock, virtual items, extra character(baconing, guess that will be paid dlc) oh well.
i guess if you are psn+ you can get 5 for 48, that's a pretty good deal if you were gonna get any anyway. I just looked and all seem eh.
Ah, I was hoping Auditorium would eventually drop to a reasonable price. *buys*
This game makes me feel stupid. I hate that. But it was a good deal!
Any thoughts on RE5 DLC Lost in the nightmare and desperate escape? I was thinking about getting the bundle.
I had a really great time with both of them. Lost in Nightmares captures the classic RE feel much better than the recent games have, both aesthetically and in gameplay. Desperate Escape is very action-packed and has a great, tense finish.

The only caveat is that they're not terribly long. Still, I managed to have two terrific gaming nights with my co-op buddy, so I found them worthwhile at full price. On sale I would recommend them.

Bought flock when it was on sale for $7 about a year ago. i thought it was awesome. More lemmings-influenced games have been released since then so I would look around and compare them first to see what best fits your taste. Also, all mega man games are 50% off. Cheapassgamer's message formatting is broken so I'll post them in a new message below.
whoa, Lost and Damned for $4.99? awesome
My thoughts exactly. That's about the only thing that interests me though.

So I've never played GTA games. 2 quesions:

1) If i've made it this far, should I start now?

2) Is there anything on the GTA Complete Edition that I wouldn't have if I bought the Vanilla disc and these 2 add-ons?

I'm gonna pick up a couple of the Red Dead DLC's for only $.49 each (I remember when War Horse was going for over $20 on eBay!). I think I'm also going to grab Freddy even though he's not on sale.

Might pick up some of the Mega Man DLC. So Undead nightmare collection is a Nightmare pack, Liars and Cheats pack, and Legend and Killers pack bundle. The other two are pretty much exclusively multiplayer only packs while Nightmare adds a new single player campaign. Is RDR's multiplayer community still active, more specifically, does anyone play these additional multiplayer modes? Otherwise I'll probably just buy the nightmare pack for $5 for use once RDR drops in price. Any opinions on the $0.49 DLC? Assassin outfit halves regeneration time on dead eye targeting. Golden gun appears to make guns...gold War horse seems like it would be the best horse.

Testing mega man 9 and 10 right now. I'm having fun w/ mega man 10 so far, but I think mega man 9 is going to be way too hard for me. I would recommend beating 10 first and then buying 9 before the next store update if you think you are up to the challenge.
Also, does Red Dead Redemption - Undead Nightmare require the original disc? I thought the standalone disc didn't require it.
Yes, it's an add-on for the original game, not a game itself. The disc has all of the data from the original game that it needs to work while stripping out all of the missions.

Is it just me or does the PS+ offerings/deals seem to have been pretty meh since the whole "everybody gets a free month of PS+ deal"? It seemed there was always something worthwhile before the outage and now not so much.

I did all the PLAY preorders but I'm pretty salty about the DLC bundle for MK. I'm pretty sure it was said that the bundle (with $5 savings) was only going to be for 360. I bought Skarlet, Kenshi, and Rain already, I really wish I had waited.

In that time Plus members have gotten among other things: 50% off of Summer Sale titles, Limbo for $11.99 the day it was released, and Borderlands GOTY with all DLC for $14.99. That's a huge amount of savings included there. L

One of the biggest problems with this logic is that many of these games have been on sale for cheaper many times before. Steam first off has had many for far cheaper and games like Borderlands have been on sale cheaper not just on steam but also in store. In addition the biggest reason most people subscribed to PS+ was for free games not sales. So sorry, to most of us saying "wow look at all the great stuff thats been on sale cheaper else where but is still on sale here" is not enough, we want the free games we signed up for and if your going to rely on deals for your pitch make sure they are real deals and not 2-3x more expensive then on steam(and worse more expensive then retail).

assasin outfit looks really cool , the warhorse is black and its the toughest horse in the game but i think the undead nightmare horses are way cooler, golden guns up your rep faster i believe.

Picked up all the Play preorders, Megaman 1, and am really tempted to get the MK dlc bundle. Megaman 10 is also tempting, since I already have 9.
