Heh, well Bloodrayne: Betrayal isn't showing up on sale at all, still shows $14.99 for me (US account). Checked the Weekly Deals section of PSN, PSN Essentials, and just looking the game up thru the "Games" section.

So.....yeah.

Probably goes on sale next week during the Winter sale, would make a ton more sense. My guess is Joystiq jumped the gun or was just given bad info.

Now PSN sends me a message telling me Renegade Ops is on sale for $11.99/$8.99 "one week only." How confusing.

I see it at $11.99. PSN sent me a message about it as well, in fact.

Space Ace and Dragon's Lair II on sale is freaking awesome. Wish they would have put Dragon's Lair on sale too. Missed DL I & II when they went on sale right after PSN returned.

Also going to check out the Hyperdimension Neptunia DLC and try to figure out what I need/want before I even get to it in the backlog. Suggestions would be appreciated.

PSN sent me a message about Bloodrayne: Betrayal being $11.99. I'm not that interested though.

Someone mentioned a winter sale next week, where'd you hear about that?
Wish they would run the dlc on sale in NA. I still want the DaVinci DLC but I'm not paying more than $5 for it.
I hope so too! I missed out on the Assassin's Creed II DLC sale awhile back. Didn't pick up the digital bundle due to the saves not being compatible with the disc version.
Shitty deals, plain and simple (for me, anyway). I have no idea what Hyper-Neptuna and Trinity are, but those who do, I assume all the DLC on sale is pretty awesome. Hope you guys enjoy it.

The one good deal not related to that, Penny Arcade, is a repeat.
Same for me. I only ever see or hear about them in this forum. So I googled them and apparently they are VERY niche titles.

I never bought the Penny Arcade games before, but now that they are on sale again for $3 for both, I think I may have to get them.

Bleh, another free game I already own. I guess it is good the Spyro games are going to be free, tho, because I'm sure my son would like them...

Edit: Did see the DLC for Marvel Pinball is on sale next week. Might pick that.

From the PS Blog, but now that I re-read it, it looks like it will only be on Full Game bundles, which are usually awfully priced to begin with:

"The Holiday Collection Sale will feature some great deals on PS3 full game bundles, with Plus subscribers getting an extra discount on top of these deals. With PlayStation Store promotions happening throughout the year, a Plus subscription always comes in handy. Check out the full list of discounts on titles like Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Renegade Ops, Darksiders and more; and watch for more details on the Holiday Collection sale soon."

I would recommend them. I've only played the first one, but it was a fun, interesting take on turn based RPGs. Nothing too spectacular, but well worth $3 for both of them. Plus, Hothead is making a 3rd one now.

I haven't turned on my PS3 yet, I will tonight. I would consider both Bloodrayne and Renegade Ops at $9 a piece. Anyone got any impressions of these 2?

Renegade ops is a lot of fun. Simple, Short and eventually repetitive, but great presentation and fun factor.

The demo for Renegade Ops sold me. I bought the game on release but havent gotten around to it yet. The reviews state it has great graphics and is a lot of fun blowing shit up. Two things I always enjoy. Also, it is made by the guys that did Just Cause 2, which is one of my favortie games of all time. Just pure fun that game is!
Renegade ops is a lot of fun. Simple, Short and eventually repetitive, but great presentation and fun factor.
Thanks guy. I'm definitely leaning towards Renegade Ops if I only get 1. I still can't forget how much I didn't enjoy the Bloodrayne demo.
Wish PS+ got the same free games EU is getting. Ah well, I only paid for the backing up of saves anyway.
Ya, EU seems to be killing USA for deals and freebies in December. I'm really hoping Sony USA steps it up, but I'm starting to doubt it...

I got 2 PMs, one for trying the Bloodrayne demo, the other for trying the Renegade Ops demo. I can then get Bloodrayne for 11.99 and Renegade Ops for 11.99/8.99 with plus. This might explain why some people don't see this offer.

Anybody that pre-ordered or purchased Renegade Ops during the PSN Play promotion should check their PMs because they've sort of apologized for not being able to get the promised free DLC until 12/13 with a free dynamic theme that you can download with the link from that PM.
Thanks for your groundbreaking insight, but I'll just be happy with any discount I can get for it. And the reason Joystiq decided it was worth mentioning just that game might be due to how fuck'ing awesome it is.
It's because they got a press release about it. They would not have posted anything if they didn't get the nudge from their PR.
Probably goes on sale next week during the Winter sale, would make a ton more sense. My guess is Joystiq jumped the gun or was just given bad info.
It's available now, as I checked the store myself when I wrote up the list.

Edit: Just checked it with my alternate account and the BloodRayne discount isn't showing up there. I guess it's only available to those that downloaded the demo, though none of that is mentioned in the PR that they sent out:

Don’t worry, North American friends – BloodRayne: Betrayal is getting its shot at a great deal on the North American PlayStation Network too! As a follow up to the recent promotion in European territories, the critically-acclaimed BloodRayne: Betrayal is receiving a temporary price cut starting today, December 6, and going through December 13. Now, the blood-sucking, vampire-decapitating 2D action will be available for 20% off! It truly is the best time to take on the role of the ever-so-deadly half vampire, Rayne.

BloodRayne: Betrayal is a satisfying hack ‘n’ slash featuring Rayne, the original video game femme fatale, on her quest for vengeance. Developed by WayForward, this is another example of an amazing game rejuvenated and dialed up by the critically-acclaimed developer.

BloodRayne: Betrayal delivers over-the-top stylish action with a healthy dose of bloodshed. You are Rayne, the sexy dhampir with superhuman strength, speed, and agility recruited by the vampire hunting Brimstone Society for one last mission. The target is a lavish yet sinister ball in a secluded castle with plenty of dark surprises. With the help of a mysterious friend and members of Brimstone, Rayne must infiltrate the manor, take out the fiendish horde, and stop an evil master plot once and for all.
I don't know if you can download the demo now and get in on the deal at some point before it's over, but I'll send them an email to see what's up with this.

Frisky, I see Marvel Pinball will be free for PS+ with 50% off some DLC.

Do you know if Marvel Pinball will be on sale for any % off for regular PSN guys?
I assume the DLC will likely be 30 or so % off for regular PSN (I hope).
It doesn't look like it's available to anybody else, so it seems like a bug that you were able to take advantage of while it was up.

Oh well. Worked out nice for me at least, since my PS+ expires tomorrow.
It was showing up for 8.99 for me too yesterday. Didn't buy it though to confirm all the way through, but it definitely showed up on sale for me.
I hope so too! I missed out on the Assassin's Creed II DLC sale awhile back. Didn't pick up the digital bundle due to the saves not being compatible with the disc version.
Oh crap, thanks for reminding me about the saves not working. I sold my copy of ACII a while back and might have bought that bundle, but not now. The ACB dlc was half off a few months ago but I was out of town and missed it.

Looks like the BloodRayne Betrayal deal being only available to those that got the PMs may be an error in the execution according to the response I got back from the game's PR person. I'll let you guys know what's up if/when it's fixed.

I bought the Marvel Pinball months ago (and love it). It'd be great if the new tables go on sale next week in addition to the free game.
While that may be the case, I was more mocking tylerh1701's sarcasm about it, which I found to be a bit unnecessary. But it's a moot point anyways, since the deal doesn't seem to be live. Oh well. :bouncy:

I didn't get any messages on my Playstation, but it's live for me. BloodRayne is showing $11.99 and Renegade Ops showing $8.99. I'm thinking about Renegade Ops. If it goes on sale on Xbox, the lowest it will be is 600 points ($7.50) so I would only be out $1.50 if I picked it up now.

EDIT: For what it's worth, I did download and play both of these demos when the games were released. These are the craziest deals I've seen on PSN before.

Agreed. I'll have to DL the demos & see if the prices change at all, so wacky they chose to do it like this (or a weird glitch, all the same).

I've got final confirmation that the BloodRayne not being live to everybody is a mix-up in communication between Sony and the publisher, so it should be getting sorted out soon.

Edit: Actually, it seems like an error with the way they announced it. The $11.99 price won't show up until you download the demo, though you don't need to actually download it first. The same is the case with Renegade Ops, so you can do the same thing if you want that deal.

Almost tempted on Renegade Ops, but the CAG in me knows that I should wait. A 33% discount on a game that is also on Steam isn't enough. I will wait for 66% or more on Steam

If only that deal was good the whole month so I can be sure it wont be cheaper in the Steam sale.

40% discount if you have PS+, but your point is still valid. I'm not a PC gamer, so this deal is still tempting me.

So I'm looking at the Hyperdimension Neptunia DLC and it doesn't really look like there is anything critical in there. I see the 5pb events for $2.99, Red Events for $2.99, level cap raisers for $0.49 each, and battle tickets to use certain characters in combat.

I'm assuming I can buy any of the level cap raisers and they will raise the cap that much and I don't need to buy them all (but I probably will anyway), or do they need to be purchased in order? I would imagine some people would like to just buy the +300 levels. Also what are the battle tickets for? Are those characters otherwise unplayable? Or are they unlocked in game? Perhaps only playable for a short period of time like Lynx in Chrono Cross (Sorry for the ancient reference. It was the first thing that came to mind)? Finally are the events just extra quests or meatier DLC worth the price?

I want to make sure I buy all the DLC that is good to have. Don't really care that much about stat boosters or clothing.

Well, if you arent after asthetics, you'd only really need the Red and 5pb events (Since they include brand new characters to use in battles, plus extra story), and maybe one of the level boosters if your planning to go for all the quests (You DONT need, but it helps).

Personally, i got all of the costumes excluding the accessories, and all of the events and 1 of the level boosters. (Might get all of the accessories too)

As far as the level booster goes, it goes in order i think? So i think you have to buy them that way, i didnt try personally.

As as far as the Battle Tickets go, you get the 2 characters ingame, but you cant use them in battles without it. (So if you unlock them before you buy it, you can use them the moment you buy it)

Everything else is pretty much just for appearance, or if you want to be a cheater and blaze through the game (Namely the boosters and equips)

Thanks for the info. I think I'll pick up a bunch of stuff. Seems kinda crappy to have characters you can't use without paying for them but whatever, they aren't outrageously overpriced.

Thanks for the compliments for the reference everybody. I realized after the fact it might have even been considered a bit spoilerly since it happens a ways into the game, but if you haven't played it by now you probably aren't going to. I hadn't ment for it to be anything more than example of a character that you only get to use once.
bloodrayne is fun, but it gets difficult at the end, nes-era difficult. Not unfair though, I found the controls fine.
The old school NES difficulty is great. The trophies give you a good challenge. I also found the controls fine. I got this on the PS+ sale and still on chapter 9.

At least it's not as hard as Battletoads on NES! That was a fucking hard game.

People seem to be split about the controls... I hated them. Made it almost unplayable. But that's coming off of playing Castlevania for years. Maybe I've been conditioned against anything else.

I wouldn't spend more than $5 for BloodRayne personally.

I really disliked the controls in the demo as well. And if i'm not mistaken, you can't duck, which is awful.

the game is fun but I don't like the fact that you have to dash foward then back to make those long jumps. That part of the controls just doesn't work to me.
it's strange how bloodrayne was rated a 9 on ign but gets about a 6 everywhere else
IIRC, Joystiq loved it as well. But ya, it's strange when games like this polarize reviewers. El Shaddai is another one with some extremely high scores and much lower scores.
