I am really interested in getting DMC HD Collection, Tales of Symphonia Chronicles, and Zone of the Enders HD but since I don't have much money at the moment I can only get one. Which one do you guys recommend?

Only DMC games I've played were the recent DmC which I got a bit bored of and Devil May Cry 3 which I barley remember playing because it was years ago but I kinda remember liking it. I"ve never played a Tales game,  but I do like anime so the art style does catch my interest and I like JRPGs. I've never played ZoE, but the whole fighting mech stuff looks cool plus Hideo Kojima is behind it which is a plus since I am a huge MGS mark.

Welp, tactics ogre and vagrant story are on sale in addition to previously known games, among others. Guess I'm going broke this sale.
Ooo. Already burned through all but $9 of PSN credit earlier today.

As usual, I'll look to you all to make a decision for me. Buy Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross or no?
Is that a question? If you don't have them the answer is obvious.

Here are the new deals for this week (Full Update Here):
Where's the links? Just plain lazy.

Does anyone recommend Time and Eternity?
whoknows does, that should tell you plenty.

Only DMC games I've played were the recent DmC which I got a bit bored of and Devil May Cry 3 which I barley remember playing because it was years ago but I kinda remember liking it. I"ve never played a Tales game, but I do like anime so the art style does catch my interest. I've never played ZoE, but the whole fighting mech stuff looks cool plus Hideo Kojima is behind it which is a plus since I am a huge MGS mark.

If you like JRPGs go Tales. It's only two months old, hasn't been below $30 before and it's two long massive games. DMC HD is only $17 right now on Amazon new, and ZoE is like $12 at TRU.

Are the original DMC games super fucking awesome or just regular awesome? I think I might trade in my disc and just get the digital version. Same with the Zone of the Enders collection. I will end up losing about $3 in the process, not too shabby.

Also, I'm pretty sure Tactics Ogre is super fucking awesome too, right? Looks like I'll be getting that with Chrono Cross and Vagrant Story because I have no willpower when it comes to PS1 Classics.
The only one I played was #2 at that shit was poopy turd butt ass. (I'ma wordsmith)

Don't listen to the trolls.  The ps1 version of Chrono Trigger has horrendous load times.  The DS version is the way to go.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/12/17/zen-pinball-2-hits-north-american-ps4s-on-1224-doctor-strange-out-today/

As a refresher, here are the Cross Buy details for PS3/Vita to PS4 for Zen Pinball 2, Star Wars Pinball, and Marvel Pinball:

There are a few details that we really need you all to pay close attention to so you have a smooth transition from PS3 to PS4. As you may have read in the announcement post, if you bought the tables coming to PS4 in Zen Pinball 2 on PS3 or PS Vita, you can import those to Zen Pinball 2 on PS4 at no charge. Here are more details on how that works:
  • The tables can only import from Zen Pinball 2 > Zen Pinball 2. You cannot import from Marvel Pinball or Star Wars Pinball on PS3 > Zen Pinball 2 on PS4. You CAN import from Marvel or Star Wars Pinball on PS3 > Zen Pinball 2 on PS3 and then > PS4.
  • There is no going backwards from PS4 > PS3. If you want to play the tables on PS3 in the future, we suggest you buy them on PS3 first and then import to PS4.
  • For those of you who downloaded any of the applicable tables via PS+, you can import to PS4 just the same. However, if your PS+ account expires, you will lose access to the content.
The actual import process is pretty easy, but here is a step by step walkthrough that you can reference if you encounter any issues:

  1. Press the square button (Import Tables) on the collection screen to start the import process
  2. Please wait while the game is searching for tables available for import
  3. If there are tables available to import, the store will offer the next batch of content it has found. Press the x button (Enter) on each offered content’s download icon to add them to downloads, then press the circle button (Back) to return to the collection screen, and if there are still tables to import, the store will offer them in the next batch. Repeat this process until all content is added to the download queue.
  4. Alternatively, if you want to import just a specific table, you can go to the table’s menu, wait a few seconds while the game checks for availability and press the “Download and play!” button when it appears. As the store comes up, press the x button (Enter) on each offered content’s download icon to add them to downloads, and press the circle button (Back) to return to the game.
  5. Wait until all downloads finish (you can check their progress in the PS4 user interface under Notifications/Downloads), and there you go! You can play your imported tables straight away!
Let me know if it there's something that doesn't actually work.

I will never understand why the Zen Pinball buy and transfer thing is so complicated.

You have cross buy for everything but only if you do it in the right order.

It doesn't show up when you click on the import tables button from the in-game menu?
Thanks, that answered my question, did not try that.

Marvel Tables, Plants vs Zombies, and Star Wars tables (original 3 free with PS+), etc, all imported/queue'd straight from the website originally for me.

Tactics Ogre is by the same team that did FFT. FFT came a year or two after TO and has more polished mechanics. They're very similar in style and gameplay, though. Story-wise...FFT is quite linear, but TO has tons more collectible characters, those characters will have speaking parts with additional enemies/3rd party characters in certain battles, and the story branches depending on your choices.

If you're going to play both, I'd recommend TO and then FFT because of the mechanics upgrades for FFT, but it's not a huge difference so it's not too big of a deal.

i thought FFT looked awful on the vita. (too small print) so i pass on OGRE if its the same

Were you playing the PS1 or PSP version? I haven't played the PS1 version on Vita, but PSP looks fine. TO does look better than FFT, however. The PSP version of FFT was a poor port visually because they stretched everything horizontally to fit the PSP's resolution.

Re: New Star Wars tables on Zen pinball. I bought on PS3 like I was supposed to and nothing was coming up when I tried to import on PS4. I found the pack on the PS store and it let me download it. Cuz things weren't confusing enough already.

Oh and the little bit of Child of Light I played was pretty freaking awesome. The combat system is pretty cool as you juggle between selecting attacks and controlling that bug thing.

Have we had the discussion of Crystal Defenders PSP vs PS3 yet? We can include comparisons to the GBC version if that interests people.
oh damn, there's a psp version? i might have to pick that up even though i didn't even like the ps3 version that much. But... it's a td game, and having those on my vita is always nice.

Tactics Ogre is worth buying. That's the long and the short of it.

The 'second world' of No Heroes Allowed is FAR harder than the first world. The wall of difficulty really kicks in around stage 6. I think rare heroes drop more often, though, based only on my gut sense.

I also noticed that even though I only have around 12 undiscovered heroes, my hero compendium has far more empty slots. I'm wondering if there are special hidden heroes in world 2 (late stages, nothing so far up to stage 6).

And... I still need around 3-4 rare eggs to drop in the dungeon. This is after many, ,many, many, MANY hours spent doing other things while letting my slaves dig.

Oh, slavery? No wonder you like the game so much.

Don't listen to the trolls. The ps1 version of Chrono Trigger has horrendous load times. The DS version is the way to go.
yes, it's the superior version... but it's 10x more expensive and i'd have to get out my duster. I'd rather have it on my vita, if only to sit in a glorious folder labeled 'Chrono Saga' never to be played. Better to add something to my backlog for $3 and change than $30-40. (Though I will play it, I love it).

I must say, that Vita slim looks mighty nice... Just saw an unboxing video of it at IGN. I know what I'm getting for Christmas. :whistle2:

If i have tales of Xillia in my backlog, do i need Tales of Symphonia?  Or can I pass on it since i know i won't get to it (ever)?

In the Golden Week thread, someone made a comment about EU Plus IGC getting Muramasa Rebirth.  What are people's thoughts on that likelihood for us? Don't wanna buy something that will be free....

yeah, i'm rethinking my tales choice as well. since i'm still sitting on vesperia, xillia, and graces. so far dbz and soul calibur for sure, and probably the star wars tables. i'll never finish my backlog before i get to next gen. shouldn't surprise me though, cause i still have a backlog from last last gen.

It wouldn't be for at least another two months if it happens, so it depends on how sensitive you are about games you've purchased going free for PS+ at any point in the future even if you got it for a great deal.

I said it before, but at the earliest we could be getting Muramasa three weeks into June. And I do believe that Hot Shots Golf Vita's omission from the sale is a possible indication that it will be a PS+ offering in the near future (but not May because that lineup is announced.) So at that point, it's up to you whether or not playing and owning the game now is worth the $7.50 if the game were to be made available for free in the future, whether it be June, July, next year, or whenever.

I don't think it's worth the hand wringing if you want to play it. Since you're hesitating at even $7.50 I'd guess that you're not interested in playing the game. Buy a craft beer or three cups of coffee from Starbucks.

PS: Not meaning to sound harsh. I've been known to hem and haw over the issue of a relatively negligible purchase. And sometimes just typing it out helps the decision making process even if you're just talking to yourself like having a twitter account.

Haha, thanks. Good point. I've got a lot to play on the Vita right now and I purchased both Chrono's just now. Guess I was curious cause I don't feel I have anything in that style right now.

Ty.

1)  I preferred Tactics Ogre to FFT.  I played the sheot out of it when I was deployed.  That and Animal Crossing.

2)  Where can you get 3 cups of Starbucks for 7.50?  It costs 4.50 for one around here.

3)  Murumasa won't be + anytime for the next couple of months.  And since my Crystal Ball is broken, I'd say it's not for you.  7 bucks for a well reviewed game.. well it's only 7 bucks.

$5 for the PSP vs $10 for the PS3 which is why I ask. Would rather have it on the Vita and $5 cheaper is even better if they're functionally the same.

To actually talk about Muramasa itself, I think it's a great looking game, strikes a good balance with its emphasis on action and some very light RPG elements (mostly sword gathering), and is another good choice in pick up and play portable gameplay because the fights are relatively fast paced and the save points tend to be plentiful. Lots of room to improve on your own skill. Plus it has two separate campaigns but neither of them are needlessly lengthy.

A 16 oz, black cup of coffee is $1.95 + tax because I'm not a girly man who puts whipped cream in their coffee.

For FFX people:

Dont forget to do the chocobo race at Remiem Temple as soon as you get there. Win once for the Cloudy Mirror, but then race a second time. During the second run, collect three chests and hit no posts to get 30 Wings to Discovery. Using Rikku's Mix Overdrive, combining two of these items will cast Trio of 9999 on your party. All attacks hit for 9999 for it's duration. This basically makes all bosses until the end of the game a complete joke. Just build up your overdrive before a boss fight and use it right away. If you do something that has multiple hits, you're golden. Lulu's Fury can destroy with this combo. If you get 8-9 casts through Fury, you're looking at over 80k damage to start most battles.

I didn't like Muramasa. Not sure what's new in Rebirth. I dislike the super small stages where you fight 4-5 enemies and then go to a new stage, though. I found that to be a pain in the ass. I was always annoyed that I had to go looking for enemies to kill, is what it felt like.

Still the same basic game. It's a little prettier, has some new content I think but nothing fundamentally altered.

i seen on FAQ that people are saying they are using 2 eggs in a level (maybe i misread it) I think you can only use one of each power ups per level right.

best game ever.... Turn people into slaves and then when they are no longer working that good turn them into monster food LOL

So Chrono Trigger has horrible load times. What about Chrono Cross? Want to relive childhood memories but not if it has horrible load times as well.

Too bad there isn't a bigger discount on Danganronpa. The only game I wanted from that list that I don't already have. Well, maybe I'll pick up Vagrant Story.
