Thank you for mentioning this. I hated Odin Sphere for this reason and while I liked Dragon Crown - beat-em-ups are my favorite genre - it was also a significant detractor here. I guess I'll wait for Muramasa to join the Plus lineup.

Are there currently any deals at all on PlayStation Network currency at any retailers?  This looks like a fantastic sale, but I would love to save a little bit more if at all possible.  :)

As for some of the things mentioned earlier in the thread, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, and Vagrant Story are definitely some of the best RPG's of all time.  Given the option, the Nintendo DS version is the ideal way to play Chrono Trigger for the added content and lack of load times, but if the PS1 Classic is your only option because you lack any of the appropriate Nintendo hardware, then it is still worth experiencing.  Just be aware that there are better versions out there.

As for Chrono Cross and Vagrant Story?  The gameplay, music, and art design all still hold up remarkably well.  Chrono Cross has a fantastic soundtrack composed by Yasunori Mitsuda and it has such a sheer variety of sounds and beautiful melodies that I can totally see why it's one of Laura Shigihara's (Plants vs. Zombies composer) favorites.  It certainly is one that I like to revisit ("Time's Scar" and "Dreams of the Shore Near Another World" are wonderful).  Although I never finished it, I hold Vagrant Story in similarly high regard.  The thing I always loved about that game is the sheer depth of the world-building and byzantine storyline Yasumi Matsuno crafted for it - it is set in the same Ivalice universe as Final Fantasy Tactics:  War of the Lions and I really wished that Square Enix gave him more freedom and development resources to flesh it out even further.  Final Fantasy Tactics:  War of the Lions, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy XII, Final Fantasy XII:  Revenant Wings, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, Final Fantasy Tactics A2:  Grimoire of the Rift... and I would like to see even more stories set in Ivalice.

No, almost never. PSN cards are activated at the register, so there is no reason for retailers to discount them. Deals in the past have usually been errors. The same is true now for Xbox cards, but for several years, they were available as prepaid cards.
 
is child of light cross buy? I could have sworn i read it was going to be between ps3/ps4 but when i check the game info it doesn't appear to be. Makes me not wanna pick it up despite having anticipated its release for a while now

Are you sure it wasn't for being a troll in general? It would sure be nice if they noticed the incessant trolling and back and forth between a handful of users that have made this thread a lot less pleasant.

I tried playing Muramasa rebirth a couple of weeks ago and didn't like it at all. Same kind of reason. Wish I had bought it physical so I could resell it. What a waste.

Being a person who prefers physical copies of games, I'd say keep your copy and play it on Dolphin, though the international version of the game intrigued me enough to purchase the physical game for PS3. If you can sell your GC copy and use it for a PS3 version, you may be better off with the upgrade.

Anyone know if there is any upcoming May promotion? I may just hold out a few days and wait for a possible promotion with spend X, get Y back like they have in the past. Moon Diver is very tempting at this price. I may also pick up Vagrant Story at this dirt cheap price. Anyone know if the game was enhanced in any way? I have the PSX version of the game and could easily just pop that in instead if there's any improvement to the game (unlikely since it's a straight port?)

really earning my paycheck this morning by watching umvc3 finals from capcom cup on youtube. one of my guiltiest nerdy pleasures, that shit is entertaining to watch.
 
Tearaway and Velocity Ultra made for a damn good commute this morning. Two very fun games. Almost made me forget the never-ending rain and water in my basement. So glad I traded my 3DS for a Vita.

Also fuck this weather (YMMV)

I also accidentally bought the stupid PSP version of Force Unleashed. I thought it was the PS3 version by mistake, and only noticed it was the PSP version when the file size was so small. Thats $5 bucks down the drain. Was also considering Danganrompa, but I think I can get a better discount down the road.

And yeah, the PS3/Vita versions of the Metal Gear HD collection is worth it. Just be aware that the Vita version only has MGS2/MGS3/MG/MG2 and no Peace Walker, although you can still transfer your save from the PSP version (but with no trophy support). The MGS2 port is kind of hit or miss on quality, but is still pretty decent. MGS3 is actually a pretty damn good port, and is far superior to the 3DS version outside the updated visuals. and 3rd person aiming.

There's a crater a bit south of some building on the plains (can't remember the exact one) where you trigger a lightning strike as soon as you enter it, so you can farm the 200 that way.

That's very exciting, Resogun is freaking excellent. Not many DLC that I am likely to buy day one but this is one of them.

Tactics Ogre is normally $20 I believe, might be $15, either way it's definitely on sale.

Looks like all those 100% Sound Shapes are about to be no more.  Europe is getting the new DLC today.  I am surprised the US store did not get them yesterday.  It looks like it is one new pack with trophies and an art pack DLC pack which has historically not had trophies.

I think for the first time in awhile I'm actually good this week. I am tempted to move metal gear rising revengance over to the PS3 but at $15 I'll stick with the 360 digital version. If it was $10 I might have caved.

Tyler - Congrats on being done with the XBOX 360, I fear I still have a long way to go. I honestly thought consolidating down to one ecosystem wouldn't be so satisfying but the only thing I'm buying these days is PS stuff and it just seems to make more sense for me. Especially with the Vita, PS3, and PS4 with PS+. Even my 3DS lies dormant. I really need to play Zelda so I can ditch it and move on.

I would be surprised if they ever put DLC that is only 99 cents (I guess one is $1.99) on sale again. They did do it at the 1 year anniversary though, so who knows.

 
Finished my good playthrough on Second Son and I'm satisfied.  Happy I made the purchase now (although that "Cole's Legacy" preorder bonus was some weak shit... hardly even worth acknowledging).

Thanks to everyone that recommended I take the plunge; moving on to an evil playthrough.
