Think of it this way: Chrono Trigger is either $3.49 now or around $30 for a DS copy.

You know you're not going to play it either way so save your shelf space and $25 and get the PSN copy.
It's going for $30 now? Crap. My copy is just sitting around (in pristine condition no less) collecting dust.

I'm basing that on the last 10 or so ebay and Amazon listings.

I figure worst case, if you hate the loading times then you're only out $3.49.
I suspect you haven't played the DS version. I also thought people might have been exaggerating, but the constant loading between menu screens and battles looks super annoying. I definitely wouldn't skip out on the game if there were no other options, though. Really enjoying it. Like someone mentioned earlier, the music is some of the best I've heard in a game. Crazy how frequently it's been sampled for other beats. Speaking of which, I believe it was re-done for PS1 so there is one advantage, I guess.
true, I have not, but everyone makes it sound game breaking. I would agree the DS version would be better, but I wouldn't skip the PS1 version for $4.

I just bought it today for this very reason. $3 and some change, if it's horrible, well at least I tried.

Has anyone confirmed or denied if changing the loading option to "fast" makes a difference? I'm downloading it currently and can't say one way or the other.

I know its getting old but I don't care. If you have played chrono trigger before dont bother with ps1. I dont know how anyone can live with that constant loading. It sucks.

I don't understand people who have a DS but don't have Chrono Trigger. I said earlier, there are no other games worth playing, but I wasn't thinking of Pokemon. There are four kinds of people with DSs.

1. Those who use it to play Chrono Trigger.

2. Those who use it to play Pokemon.

3. Those who use it to play both.

4. Retards who play shitty games.

If you're using your DS for anything other than Chrono Trigger or Pokemon, you've failed.

Onto FFX!

Thanks to Trio of 9999, I beat the next 4 bosses in about 2 minutes each. Now it's time to grind and capture some monsters...the best part of the game.

Nidhogg is great, should be fun on PS4. I could care less about Spelunky though
Did someone say Nidhogg?

It's amazing that you fall into all four categories, and a few unnamed ones too.

This. It might not seem too bad when you start off, but you'll be ready to smash the game after a while.

Nidhogg looks incredible. And that music, holy shit. Can't believe I'd never heard of it.

Pretty straight forward as far as trolling goes. Losing your edge since the name change.

I know what I'll be playing first on PS4! Hooray! And yeah for crossbuy!
The cross-buy is awesome but I'm still sitting this one out, lol. It'll be neat to watch people stream crazy runs though.

There's also the android version of Chrono Trigger, which AFAIK is identical to the ds version, doesn't have the stupid load times, and only costs $10.

I know some people were asking about a deal on PSN credit and if you have a Meijer near by they have a $5 mperks coupon for a $50 purchase good Friday and Saturday.  Looks like it will work on the PSN cards that are back in electronics like similar coupons have.

I'm slightly confused by the Star Wars pinball packs. I understand to buy the Vita or PS3 Versions first to get the PS4 import, but which exactly do I need to buy to have everything? I'm confused about the standalone/FX2 versions.

The one thing I preferred about Xbox was that all pinball tables were under one primary hub rather than being split into standalones.

Regarding Saint Seiya, has anyone here played it who can comment if its enjoyable enough for the price? I'm in the process of watching the series and wouldn't mind biting on this if theres some fun to be had.

Final question, I'm a raving fan of Azure Dreams from the PS1 and Sorcery Saga appears to be extremely similar in gameplay so I'm looking to grab that as well. If anyone has any experience with this title and would share their thoughts I'd appreciate it as well. I'm going to end up picking it up either way, just unsure if I'm going to grab this discounted download or hold out for a physical copy.

This is incredibly ironic.
I'm an efficient dude. If I'm turning in a major report to my boss I'm gonna go over it with a fine-toothed comb and catch typos and make sure it looks great. But like Wrencrest said, If I'm posting a throwaway comment on a stupid online message board I'll make sure it makes sense but I'm not going to bother looking for or correcting typos.

Ho. Lee. Shit.

Think of it this way: Chrono Trigger is either $3.49 now or around $30 for a DS copy.

You know you're not going to play it either way so save your shelf space and $25 and get the PSN copy.
Wow it's going for $30 online? I'm just gonna sell my DS copy and get the PS1 copy. Better to have a $3.75 game that I'll never play in my backlog than a $30 game I'll never play.

Gotta blame Zen there. They finally got everything cleaned up into Zen Pinball 2. They got the original game, Marvel Pinball, and other expansions cleaned up and combined into one big hub in Zen Pinball 2. Then completely out of the blue they go out and release Star Wars Pinball for absolutely no reason.

Seriously some of those announced indies look awesome.  I would have been all over this today and going crazy in this thread if I had been around.  God damn work!

You would be doing yourself a great disservice by not playing them all the way through and in order of release. A lot of what makes the game are the characters and without all the background you will miss out on the charm and witty references.
While the first Uncharted hasn't aged quite as well as its sequels, I totally agree with the above. It was the first game on the ps3 that reminded me how -fun- games could be. I loved it. And getting to know the characters adds so much to the sequels. It's not the stories that drive the games -- you won't miss out on plot points -- you'll just miss out on knowing the characters... which is a vital part to the charm of the series.

Thanks for the Muramasa suggestions everyone. Really fun game and i really like the art style.

Uncharted 2 should be played by everyone. I agree that it was a game that reminded me how fun they can be. I just fell into everything about it.

Still gonna grab MGS HD Vita and sell my physical copy I think.

How are the Star Wars pinball tables? I have the first Star Wars tables and enjoy alot of Zen Pinball stuff

Silly question, I've never actually purchased Vita games before (don't own it yet), but if I go digital, I'm guessing it works like in the App Store that you can download and re-download whenever you want, right? Games are saved in the special Memory Card (the BL2 Bundle comes with an 8GB one and you can purchase a bigger one later)? And saves are saved in the built-in 1GB Memory, right?

Once downloaded, could I lend a friend the Memory Card? Or not? And I can only have one Vita activated with my account at a time?

You seriously have no idea how complicated this question is. So first the easy stuff. Yes it's like any modern digital store front where once purchased they're tied to your account and can redone loaded indefinitely until it shuts down. The memory cards are available up to 64GB and is the same functionally as the built in memory on the new units.

Now as far as using the memory card goes they're basically tied to one account at a time. You can also only have one account per Vita and to change accounts requires a total system initialization. You stick a card into a different Vita and the stuff will all be on it still but none of it will work. There's probably a few things in forgetting at the moment.

-Yes, download as much as you want.

-Saves are stored with the game itself, most likely to prevent exploits similar to the psp save game exploits still causing problems today. you can copy the game and saves to your ps3/pc or upload saves to the cloud if you have ps+.

-you will want a larger mem card.

-your mem card is locked to a single account. you can switch between multiple cards on the same account, although i found even this a bit of a hassle and prefer one large card. you can switch between multiple cards with different accounts if you factory reset your vita in between. it's easy but it takes about 5 minutes... but you could then havel, say, a japanese and us account. most find it not worth the hassle.

That's not complicated, dude. An iphone is exactly the same way; you tie it to an Apple account, and you get access to all the games/music/shows/whatever you have on that account. If you want to load stuff from another Apple account, you have to reset the phone completely.

i've heard the UI for the IOS version is atrocious.

i'm happy with my vita/ps1 version, load times be damned. i own a 3ds xl but i prefer never to turn that on.

--------

Raiden looks awesome. Wish it was ps4.

Resogun DLC - can not wait. awesome.

Anyone know if there is any upcoming May promotion? I may just hold out a few days and wait for a possible promotion with spend X, get Y back like they have in the past. Moon Diver is very tempting at this price. I may also pick up Vagrant Story at this dirt cheap price. Anyone know if the game was enhanced in any way? I have the PSX version of the game and could easily just pop that in instead if there's any improvement to the game (unlikely since it's a straight port?)
Have they ever started on of those spend $50 promos halfway through a sale? i know people freak out about this every big sale, but... have they ever actually done that? i seem to remember them starting on odd days before, but that only messed with normal releases, not a big sale.

I want to get the PS1 version of Chrono Trigger, but I heard the load time when starting a battle is 1.5 seconds compared to only 1 second on the DS version. That means for every 60 battles I'm losing 30 seconds of my life! If I go on a long grindfest, I could end up dead by the time the game finishes loading.

The loading time when entering a battle or the menu *is* significant and annoying. So much so that I'd certainly recommend any other version of the game before the PSone port.

Man I wish Jamestown was coming to Vita too. That game blew me away the first time I played it on Steam. Then my lappy decided it didn't want me playing awesome games on it anymore.

A lot of those other indies look cool from the video thumbnails too. I'll have to watch them later after this blasted hockey game.

Not getting an option to choose a version. Just showing as $14.99 with the add to cart button. Went through to checkout, to the last page and not showing any way to change the option.

Mass Effect 3 Omega Freeeeeeeeeeee ( $15 value)

Choose a Version > Free > 1.8GB
Going through the PS3 store worked for me. Thanks RPG.

(Even if you are a 9ers fan)

I can't wait to play it when I get to ME3 in about three years.

They're not split up at all. Everything is playable in Zen Pinball 2. The standalone version is a free bonus for those that bought the Star Wars Pinball tables for ZP2, so the only way to not get all versions of each pack is to buy them on PS4 first.

There's the base Star Wars Pinball pack and the Balance of the Force pack that makes up the first two table packs in Star Wars Pinball, so buy one of each for PS3/Vita and you're set. You'll have five possible sets of trophies to earn for each pack.

Bleh.

Just beat the last boss in Child of Light. I'm starting to enjoy the credits and the game crashes. I report the error and now the file is damaged. It won't load up. I'm hoping I saw all of the ending.

Glad I got all of the trophies on that run.

But crash aside, I really enjoyed the game.

So I bought a Vita about a month ago and then bought Blazblue CSE because it was cheap at Gamestop and I loved the original. Just restarted my PS+ and found out I already had it for free (looks like it was part of PS+ last May). Whoops.

Anyway, what's the verdict on Vagrant Story? Never actually gave it a try during the PS1 days, but that price tag's nice. And are the loading times in Chrono Trigger really that bad? Looking at my collection, it seems I've never owned a legal copy. Whoops again.

You could always YouTube it to be sure. If someone hasn't uploaded it yet they will soon enough.

So is this auto play in battles a common thing for modern JRPGs now? Because I just discovered it on Conception 2 and it's quite lovely. Allows for more hockey watching and less me nodding off.
