First time poster long time lurker. I've had the PSVR since Tuesday. I was one of the winners of the Taco Bell giveaway and my impressions of PSVR is their is a ton of potential in VR but in it's current state it's a bit of a let down. Part of my feelings on this could be my expectations were pretty high as far as graphics and resolution and I was expecting to see what I get on my tv translated to the headset and its not quite like that. The resolution is much lower and this is very evident when you try to watch VR videos. The games that seem to best utilize VR are games that are stylized like REZ and Thumper, and also games that don't strive for realism. Batman was a good experience but pretty short. I finished it in about an hour and a half and that was with taking my time. RIGS seems to have a lot of potential but it's hard to say if it has staying power. I might purchase EVE because that game seems to translate well to VR. Overall there is definitely a novelty effect where after a while you don't feel the urge to rush back to it. I think that could be due more to not having a game that I feel like I just have to play to get back in to that world. So far most of the things Ive tried are quite short. I think the prices of the VR games needs to come down a bit. Battlezone was fun while playing the demo but I dont think there is enough there to justify spending 60 bucks. The game I'm actually excited for is Farpoint. I'll also be picking up a Pro so I'll be curious to see if that can increase the image quality. Long story short the potential is definitely there but I think depending on your expectations you might be let down.

So people actually win that stuff? Wow! Congratulations you lucky bastard!

Thanks for the impressions. Thats about what I expected it to be like. Anything new takes time to develop so I'm glad to hear you see potential in the tech.

Thanks! Yeah I think we might be a few years off from what people's expectations are but before I was doubtful of VR but after trying it I'm convinced they are on to something.

Super close to finishing AC Unity (I've been taking my sweet time since I don't have that many games right now) and debating on whether I wanna go ahead and buy AC Syndicate for $20ish on Amazon or wait and hope like a good CAG that it drops in price around Black Friday.

Though that's still over a month away. Ah, decisions..

I would recommend not buying AC: Syndicate unless it has all of the DLC packaged with it. You might be lucky enough to find a good deal for it closer to Black Friday time.

I'm here to say that VR is a gimmick. I have tried every VR out today and I have tried out some cool tech they are adding to it in the future (Samsung has a pair of headphones that make you feel like you're moving.)

It is cool for 15 minutes. After that, it's whatever. And after that, it's no thanks. It is cool for experiences, but gaming? IDK. To each their own, I guess. I still prefer couch.

Also, the military has been using VR experiences for a while now. Their headsets cost $80,000 a pop. VR motion sickness is very real; if you're in the military and were training for a prolonged period with VR, you are forbidden to operate heavy machinery or drive a vehicle for 24 hours. The side effects on the brain linger for a while. This is an actual rule in the military.

Just my two bits. Again, to each their own. If you get a VR, I hope you really enjoy it. I really do.
I feel it's just a gimmick as well.

I feel VR only works with select games and modes, the game has to be in first person or other wise what is the point?
I saw they released a mascot platformer for VR "Lucky's Tail" and I honestly don't know why, sure your head is now the camera.. but it really does nothing you can't do with a simple joystick setup.

There are some fun VR games, but it feels like the motion control fad all over again.

Except that there was more to the Wii at launch than PSVR has. Wii Sports and LoZ:TP were both legitimately great and Mario Galaxy was released only a little after launch (if I remember correctly). I am not sure PSVR has even 1 game that has the appeal of any 1 of those 3 games.
And the Wii was less than half the price.

The likely problem with VR is the same problem with Wii, Kinect, and other peripheral stuff.  Yeah it's neat and exciting at first, but after awhile, I'm sure I will just want to sit down and play with little barriers to entry.  I don't want to have to stand up, swing my arms around, strap on peripherals, adjust the room lighting, etc.

We are living in a time where people don't mind watching movies on their phones because it's easy to do.  People value ease of use over almost anything else right now, so once the novelty wears off, VR will mostly seem like a giant hassle.

They need to fix the way they list these PSVR titles in the store. Some of them say PSVR title under the icon when you're scrolling through but some of them just say PSN game and then when you click on them it says in the notes that the game requires PSVR to play.

I didn't mean the Wii, I mean everyone jumping on the band wagon thinking it is the next big thing then realizing it's not all that it is cracked up to be.

We the Vibe, The Rift, and PSVR and a few others all jumping in to get a piece of this hot new pie, like how Sony and Microsoft jumped on with motion controls, the move, and the Kinect.. then quickly all but discontinued them.

Thinking of buying Lego Jurassic and The Hobbit since I already got Marvel. Are those any good for the price?
Enjoyed Jurassic World because of the ability to play as a dinosaur. The Hobbit was ok, but didn't feel like it added anything to the Lego games that came before it.

I hate when "longtime lurkers" post while announcing their lurking. It's like someone announcing that they've been hiding in the bushes watching you, jacking it but they just needed to chime in on your discuss of Donald Trump. If you're lurking, lurk or at least don't introduce yourself like it's an AA meeting.

Stupid question for a system and games nobody else is probably buying..

Natural Doctrine - On the checkout page on Sony's storefront for the Vita version, it says it is Cross-Play and Cross-Save. Does that mean I receive a license for all systems or do I have to purchase them separately. I am assuming purchase separate since it is not listed in Frisky's Cross Buy section.

Mortal Kombat (Vita) - Anyone play this game recently? I am not a big fan of fighters but I do dig the MK series and it has been a long time since I have played the series. Does it control and run decently or is it just a big hot mess?

In my opinion MK on vita is a better port than Injustice, it could also be the best portable MK that has ever come out. Also if you haven't played it you should just for the story mode because it is amazing.

The only issue with the game is that the online was all handled by Gamespy for the Vita and since they are no longer around, you can only play Ad-Hoc matches.

Cross Play means you can play with/against people on other platforms. Cross Save means you can transfer saves between platforms in-game. I didn't see anything suggesting it was Cross Buy.

MK on Vita runs and plays really well. They cut back on the visual quality to ensure it ran well at 60fps.

Played an hour of PSVR last night after setting it up. Tried out Vrideo, Volume: Coda, and 100ft Robot Golf. No motion sickness with this session.

Vrideo didn't seem to be a good app for VR video since the few videos I watched weren't interesting at all and the app itself is buggy. This app made it easy to see the screen door effect since the static loading screen were perfect to make that obvious to see.

100ft Robot Golf's VR mode is nice as an additional way to experience it's silliness. It worked really well except for the one animated cutscene I saw had terrible stuttering backgrounds when in motion, which is probably why they try to have as little animating in every other cutscene.

Volume: Coda mostly adds some new levels just for the VR stuff. It plays as well as the original game, though the levels are presented as more of a holographic projection that you can tilt and zoom to your preference. The one issue is that the text is too small to read with the lens' limited resolution, so they need to fix that.

Cinematic mode is also pretty cool as a means of using the main dashboard and playing non-VR content, which just puts that on a large screen projected in a dark void. After the session was over, my TV seemed tiny after getting used to a virtual 224" screen. I did have one weird bug where it started freaking out at a certain point while claiming there was no free space on the HDD. It auto reset itself to fix the issue, so I don't exactly what happened.

I recorded the entire session to see how it handles the feed. Cinematic mode is just the normal 2D screen on the recording, so you can't see me freely looking around. The regular VR stuff looks as it did for me, though that is probably up to what the devs want to put on the social screen. The two games I played just displayed what I saw. I'll be doing videos starting today and for the next few days along with impression articles every night or two.

When you have vr on, what's the percentage of awareness do you have to your surroundings to prevent being horribly pranked or jumped by a monster in your house?

All this srpg talk is making me want to pick up Disgaea Afternoon of Darkness even if I already have but have never played the DS version. I am also looking hard at Natural Doctrine even though this is the first time I've heard of it and it sounds like it will kick my butt. I hate this thread.

So after the first Disgaea, how would you rank the sequels? I don't mind skipping sequels if they suck.

Percentage of Awareness: 20%

Percentage of VR users jumped by Monsters: 64%

Was not expecting a Flash sale until next weekend. Some good deals in there but have most of what I'd want already.

Put Rez Infinite in there for $10 :)

Yeah, right. Probably be a long time before a sale hits on that.

Lol. You know this flash sale sucks when theres not a thread on the front page the moment its live.

Sony, if your gonna increase my PS+ price (for no justifiable reason thus far), atleast have the decency to add some new games to your sales please.

PSVR users: The game Collateral Damage thats available in the flash sale has VR functionality, not sure what it is but it states it has a VR mode in the game's product page.

This arguement from people is seriously dumb. Sony usually has decent sales week in and week out even if it is things that you may not be interested in. Fact is xboxlive has been 60 for years and noone complains. They are basically the same platform and service now. The security of PSN has gotten better and for it to continue to get better the price increase was justified. Its a whole 10 dollars a year more now. Thats less then a dollar a month...seriously get over the 10 dollar increase. Also not to mention PSN also offers usually at least 6 "free" games a month compared to XBL usual 4. So again stop with the crybaby bullshit over the PSN price increase.

Decided to grab Hitman GO after playing on my mobile, fun game, then good price on RIDE, and then Shadow Complex Remastered and RISK

How well has Shadow Complex aged? It is on sale for PS4 for $6.

I like Metroid, but have been let down a lot from games claiming to be like Metroid.

Frisky usually posts the deal a few hours after the flash sale goes live. Rarely do these flash sales get threads immediately in deference to the master of the PSN sales threads.

The reviews of Coffin Dodgers seem to say that if the technical issues got fixed it would be alright. Anyone know if it has been fixed?

I'm just glad some of the Arcade Archives things were put on sale. Would love to keep supporting Hamster continuing to put those games out.

Disgaea 2: Liked it at the time, but haven't played it since the PS2. Liked the story

Disgaea 3: Was ok, didn't like many of the characters and this is the one I played the least of

Disgaea 4: More fun than 3, played it on the Vita

Disgaea D2: Great updates to mechanics, but the story is awful (I don't like Etna, for the record)

Disgaea 5: Really liked this one. Heard it doesn't have as much to do in the end game, but I wasn't able to play it long enough to see for myself

That said, the first Disgaea is still my favorite, but I really like the updates in D2 even if I hate the story (it continues with Laharl and co.)

Sorry. I just got home.

Flash Sales don't have PS+ discounts, so they have nothing to do with each other.
