Is $24 a decent price for PS4 Dark Souls 2? Really considering it, but if the physical copy is just going to end up being $19.99 fairly soon then I'd rather wait.

The OP is largely done, minus links because I'd like to sleep at some point. Let me know if there are any mistakes, typos, etc.
Thanks so much Frisky. I've maintained threads similar to this one before on other forums, so I have an idea of just how much work you are doing. I appreciate it.

Man Sony hitting it out of the park lately. Usually PS Plus week and the following week are bare minimum discounts.

I picked up:

  • Burnout Paradise
  • All 3 dragon Age Inquisition DLC
  • Shantae
  • Pshyconauts
  • Red Dead multi pack
I'd have picked up more, but I own over 50% of the anniversary titles. I combine this and the 20% off coupon from BoxDeals thread,

The backlog continues...

Thoughts on the Sin of the First Scholar? I often like digital games vs. hard copies so that I don't have to get out of bed :) if I want to play something else.

I played 200hrs on 360, 100 on PC. I say the game is superb. Really difficult too. Go see a video just in case.

Picked up Hot Shots Golf Open Tee, Psychonauts, Patapon & LocoRoco.  Not bad for $5.10.  I loved LocoRoco back when I had my first PSP so it's good to own it again.  Patapon, upon closer inspection seems like something I could love.

I guess I've been spoiled by previous annual sales, because these are horrible prices besides the PSP games and a few others.

Alpha Mission 1 and 2 look like lots of fun and it's only $2.40 for the pair.

What's the deal with the King of Fighters series? How does it compare to Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat? Are certain ones better than others?
KoF is basically a collection of characters from different SNK fighting series brought together in one game. It plays a bit closer to Street Fighter than Mortal Kombat. The fights are 3 vs 3 where when one character is knocked out another steps in to replace them until the team is wiped out. KoF '98 and 2002 are considered the best in the series. I'd personally recommend '96 over '94 & '95.

I ended up picking up the two PSP Capcom Collection games and was disappointed to see that the video options made you choose between 1x1 pixel resolution or a correct 4:3 aspect ratio, you couldn't enable both at the same time. :bomb:

Oh, I played demon souls and loved it as well as bloodborne. Didn't have time to play dark souls and want to go back into it. I watched my buddies play it when I would go visit and looked good and have been meaning to pick it up

We're definitely in a new age of gaming. lol
yup! surprised I'm not 300 pounds haha

Definitely in for Peace Walker PSP/Vita at $6.

Any opinions on The Mark of Kri for $4? I remember liking it when it came out, but it's been a long time...

Anyone have a guess to when No Man's Sky will go up for preorder?!? I need these funds out of my wallet before I spend them on games I really don't want to play...

Can't believe I'm just now picking up Jeanne D'Arc. What a fantastic game for what I've played so far.

Any JRPG/SRPG fans with a PSP/Vita/PSTV would be doing themselves a grave disservice if they don't pick it up for the measly $3.

Thanks for the feedback. I looked into a couple reviews and indeed this is my kind of game. I'll have to grab it when I grab Tomba.

...but I already have the disc...

(and Fire Emblem Awakening)

(and Disgaea)

be aware this is not the HD version, for some reason. Just OG PSP version that also works on Vita.
I'm aware. There is no HD ver for Vita. I have the HD ver on 360 but never really play that console anymore.

Supposedly the PSP ver works well on Vita, despite being locked at 20fps.

Jeanne D'Arc is supposed to be a really good RPG for PSP (and vita) and I don't believe it's ever been on sale before, and it's $3.

Anyone know how the PS3 Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin is structured? Is it all one download or is it just a collection of the vanilla version of the game and the 3 DLC as separate downloads? I own the disc vanilla version and I wouldn't mind paying $16 just for the DLC, but not if I have to download the whole game.
It has been on sale before since its in my purchaed list and i only buy games on sale. I dont remember what for though. Its definitely worth $3 though. As several people have said its a pretty darn good game

So much on sale, and I don't even know what's on tap for the PS4.

Plus my PS3 still won't read discs so to see lots of games I have on disc only is a gift/curse. There's a lot of impulse purchases waiting to happen but I need to see everything that's on sale this week before I make any decisions.
How did that happen and what model do you have? My old PS3 fat stopped reading disks quite a while back, right after a sony update. It was very strange. Worked one day, did a version update, stopped working. I think it was right before the PSN hack or so. I put a bigger HDD in it and use it on the smaller TV for digital only games but it would be nice to get it working again. I contemplated cracking it open and swapping out the BD player but the old girl still works and i dont want to kill it. I hear these things YLOD eventually anyway

It's not DLC. It's a free update.

Grab your potions and don your mask, it’s time to play as Plague Knight! Shovel Knight: Plague of Shadows is a free update is primed to appear on all existing platforms and regions on September 17th, 2015!! Whether you’re on your favorite system or trying the game in a new way, we hope you enjoy this free update featuring an all new alchemical adventure and Challenge Mode!

oh yeah, I forgot they just made 2 and 3 HD versions for Vita. Weird. Super weird.

it be 99 cents next sale probally.

how does valkyria chronicles 2 look on the vita.. i know you have to download it to the ps3 then vita right

Looks like there was a permanent price drop from $23 to $15 that many thought was a sale at the time in April of 2013, maybe you bought it then.

It looks alright. It's not particularly beatiful or anything. Also yes, you do have to download it to PS3 then move it to vita from there.

I'm liking what I've seen of Destiny 2.0 so far. They've added actual quests to the game, so they can string things together more easily to make it feel more connected and not as much like there's this amorphous blob of quests that you can sort of play through in some sort of order. The weird thing is that there are a few "abandoned" quests you can find on the tower that are newbie stuff for the early missions and as an intro to the tower, which offers some free XP if you're looking for it. You can even set them to track so they show up more easily with the push of the touchpad.

Bounties have a similar treatment as far as tracking is concerned. You can hold up to 16 bounties and can track one of them. It seems like they've fleshed out the types of bounties, though I haven't played 100s of hours to know for sure. Some of the first ones I got were for X precision kills with my primary weapon, some fireteam-specific stuff for the Crucible, and collecting nodes/chests/kills on the Moon.

They've rebalanced the stats for all of the gear and got rid of the current/potential damage numbers for weapons so you just see the current damage number for that weapon. Light is obviously no longer as important to your progression as before, so it's more of a stat buff now. Ghosts now have stats and bonuses attached to them. The Class Armor, or Bonds, seem to have a defense rating attached to them now, so there's more to them than just the cosmetic look. Emotes are now an item that you can equip, though I believe it's just for one of the directions of the d-pad. The pointing emote is the only one that you can replace, so you'll continue to always be able to dance as much as you want. The Intellect, Discipline, and Strength stats have a much better explanation of their effect on cooldowns on the gear page to make it easier to see why I should pay attention to that.

They greatly simplified the faction currency stuff down to just Legendary, Crucible, and Vanguard marks. I didn't play enough to even touch most of that, so it doesn't affect me that much.

The Tower is mostly the same, though they've made some adjustments to that Vanguard room below to show blueprints for special items and find your abandoned quests easily.

The overworld map has also been changed up a bit. The planets/moons move around as you move your cursor around, which is a big deal. They're rebalanced the recommended levels for many of the quests, as the first Crota mission that I had unlocked but not started was around a level 20 mission at first but is now a level 10 mission. The harder versions of those missions seem to be dictated more by Light levels than your overall level, so the Light stuff still plays some part in your progression. They've also moved stuff around on that map to make room for The Taken King.

It's a 120 GB Slim model. It just stopped reading discs but read digital just fine. I kept hearing how easy it was to replace the lens so I tried it after watching some Youtube videos.

And failed horribly.

My PS3 is a brick now. It won't even power up since the wires and ribbon are easy to snag. I also had problems removing a screw which is stripped to no return. Ironically, I had problems removing a screw when replacing the hard drive. At least with that you have room to clench the screw with a needle nose (and made a screeching sound once it was removable).

I am sending it out to Sony for $80 so I will see how it goes from there. In the meantime, I'm frustrated how I can't play so many games - particularly Guitar Hero and Rock Band.

Hmm.. no, i dont think so. I have several copies of it on UMD, so i would have only picked up the digital if it was <$10 or so

lol jeeze, sorry man... makes me think i should just leave my old fat alone then. Im relatively mechanically enclined though. Build computers a lot, have taken apart and cleaned/restored retro systems before. But havent messed with anything PS2 era or beyond.

Thanks for the detailed imps.

It's been long since I played and gave up on Destiny, do you think there may be value in just starting from scratch and playing the "campaign" all over again.

Sure. All of the improvements they've made should give the early parts of the game more structure along with the removal of the light level caps and supposed improved loot drop system.

Debating on Jeanne d'Arc...currently "playing" Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Stupid MGSV and ARK have taken my life.  Getting 0 game beaten lately.

Cool. Hopefully this will feel more like what I had hoped the game was going to be. Thanks!

Just got a Destiny newsletter that says the new maps and Crucible modes for The Taken King are going to be available to everyone until its launch next Tuesday.

"Check out the Crucible's two newest challenges: Mayhem (available Saturday) and Rift (live now). Mayhem drastically reduces Guardian recharge rates, allowing players to use all their abilities much more often. Enjoy the chaos! Rift is a variation on Capture the Flag: score by capturing the Rift orb and returning it to the opponent's base. Dunking the Rift orb to earn style points is encouraged!"

I dunno. I just got the Playstation Store working and downloaded nearly a dozen games myself.

I CAN tell you that Capcom vs SNK 2 is a must, if your roommate doesn't mind losing his PS3 for a while. Great game, one of the all-time best versus fighters. The two Capcom collections I already own in disc form, but I double-dipped anyway because I want them on my Vita as well. (You'll need to borrow that PS3 again to do that.) King of Fighters '96 is a (slightly outdated) gem, probably the first truly excellent game in that series.
So can you play capcom vs snk 2 on the vita? You had my hopes up, but my google search tells me it's not possible. Maybe I misread your post.

I would say so! This is what I said:

You're going to have to play it on the Playstation 3... there's no Vita compatibility for it or any other PS2 Classics game.

Yea totally derped. Flipped capcom collection for vs snk 2 and got too excited. Lol

Hmm... for some reason when i try to buy anything on PSN on my PS3 now it tells me that the last time i signed in was on a different console and forces me over to enter credit card info. I have never used a CC with PSN. I dont feel safe doing so with their horrible security. The card on file is a really old one that's expired. Anyone know how to get rid of this and let me buy stuff again without giving them a CC number? I have ALWAYS used the $ cards you buy in store. I even have like around 20 bucks in my wallet right now. I wanted to get a few games on this sale

Well, everything -might- get cheaper. But it doesn't always happen - Atlus has never repeated the sale where lots of jrpgs/srpgs were 2.50 or so, even though those same games go on sale every other week.

Waiting on Jeanne over $2 is just silliness imo, it's a great game.

I thought VC2 was now directly downloadable... can't swear to it, but i know a bunch recently became directly available and i thought vc2 was on the short list.

Does Psychonauts hold up?

Yes it's cheap but is it worth your time?
It's a platformer/adventure game that doesn't do the platforming part all that well. Some stages are frustrating, while others are confusingly designed. (I had NO idea how to get through the Milkman Conspiracy.) Beyond that, the PS2 version isn't the best available; for that you'd want the PC or Xbox version.

But hey, it's cheap. Whatever floats your boat!
